Braintree – Pearl J. (Jacobs) Butt, 98 years of age, entered Life Eternal at her home on Tuesday April l3, 2010 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born at Ochre Pit Cove, Newfoundland on January 8, l9l2. She received her education in Newfoundland and then became a Registered Nurse having graduated from the Whidden Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Everett, MA. Pearl had been a school nurse at the Tilton School in New Hampshire. She had also been a private duty nurse for patients in the Boston area and at Nantucket Island. She moved to Braintree in 1952 having formerly lived in Quincy. Pearl was the beloved wife of the late Rowland Hill Butt who died in 1996. She is survived by two sisters Armorel Lucy Butt of Everett, MA and Marjorie J. Bursey of Tujunga, CA. She is the aunt of Cheryl Webb of St. Louis, MO., Bradford E. Butt of Glastonbury, CT., Persis and Ralph Loveys of N.J., Harris Bursey and Ralph Bursey both of CA., Glenn Gillingham, Allan Gillingham, Reg Jacobs and Ray Jacobs all of Canada. Pearl is also survived by many great nieces and great nephews including Bradford Webb of St. Louis, Haley Webb of Boston, Lauren Butt of CT., Linda Loveys Jeffrey of Saugus, MA., Donna Sellars Sutton of Canada, Erin Bacon, Evan Bursey both of California, and Heather Bursey of New York. She is also survived by her special friends Mary (May) Riordan, Karen Toomey, and Nancy and Joe Mahoney all of Braintree. Pearl was the sister of the late Everett Jacobs, Violet Loveys, and Ella Gillingham. She was the sister-in-law of the late Julia A. Butt of East Braintree. Pearl loved everyone and her sunny nature ensured that people loved her too. She also had a deep connection with all of God’s creatures. She was an avid bird watcher and could identify dozens of birds by their calls and plumage. She was entranced by animals and they were drawn to her, often eating gently from her hand. An enthusiastic swimmer, Pearl enjoyed many summers and weekends on the Cape. She was a friend to many and loved by all. She especially related to her cats Whitey and Spot. For many years Pearl was an active member of the Union Congregational Church of Weymouth and Braintree where she belonged to the Ladies’ Circle. She was an expert at knitting and made many baby sets for the annual Church Fair. In the words of her niece, Cheryl Webb, “Pearl was an independent woman long before it became fashionable”. Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N. Peck – Russell Peck Funeral Home 5l6 Washington St., BRAINTREE on Friday, April l6th from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held at the Union Congregational Church of Weymouth and Braintree WEYMOUTH LANDING at 1:30 P.M. on April 16th. Burial will follow at the Village Cemetery, Weymouth Landing. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or donations may be sent to the Union Congregational Church of Weymouth and Braintree 74 Commercial Street, East Braintree, MA. 02184. The Reverend Earl Alger, former pastor of the Church, will officiate at the services. Philip G. Byrnes, 82 years of age entered Life Eternal at Ellicott City, Maryland on Monday, June 21, 2010. He was born in Milton and raised in Milton. He was educated in Milton and was a graduate of University of Massachusetts Boston. He was W.W. II Army Veteran. He was longtime Postal Employee. He had been an essay judge for the Profiles in Courage essays at the J.F. Kennedy Memorial Library. He also was a volunteer for the Boston Council on Aging. He was a parishioner at Saint Mary of the Hills Church in Milton. He was the husband of the late Mary (Lewis) Byrnes. He is the devoted father of Eileen M. Fox of Columbia, Maryland, Mary E. Byrnes of Perry Hall, Maryland, Philip G. Byrnes, Jr. married to Cheryl Byrnes of Crofton, Maryland, Attorney Kevin E. Byrnes of Arlington, VA. And James D. Byrnes of Silver Springs, MD. He was the brother of the late Gordon F. Byrnes, Charles Melvin Byrnes, Vincent Byrnes and Carol Hickey. He is also survived by six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a gathering at the Mortimer N. Peck – Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington Street, BRAINTREE on Friday, June 25th at 9:30 A.M. with a visiting hour until 10:30 A.M. to be followed by A Funeral Mass in Saint Mary of the Hills Church, Saint Mary’s Road, MILTON at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Father Christopher J. Hickey a nephew of Philip Byrnes officiating. Burial will follow the Funeral Mass at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.

Luigi Contrino
Luigi Salvatore Contrino, 85 years of age, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Luigi was born and raised in Quincy. He was a longtime resident of Weymouth. He was a former Truck Driver for Old Colony Crushed Stone Company of Quincy for 38 years. Luigi enjoyed spending time with his large Italian family, watching wrestling on TV, and in his younger years playing the accordion for his family. He was the loving husband of the late Barbara (White) Contrino who passed away in 1990. Luigi is survived by five devoted children; Tony Contrino married to Darren Contrino of Holbrook, Louise Contrino of Weymouth, Peggy Contrino of Maine, Dottie Contrino of Whitman and Brenda Contrino of Abington to which he made his home with and his adopted daughter Diane Cormier of Abington. Luigi was the loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren: Michael, Jessica, Anthony, Erin, Stephanie, Scott, Shayna, Lauren, Lisa, Alex, Kaitlyn, Chris, Shayla and her husband Hector and seven great-grandchildren: Mia, Anthony, Sophia, Madison, Brielle, Amani and Tyson. Luigi was the loving brother of Theresa Contrino of Quincy, the late James Contrino, Joseph Contrino and Frances Contrino. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. A Catholic prayer service will be held at the Mortimer N. Braintree – Commander Peter J. Callaghan, U.S. Navy retired, 44 years of age, of Braintree died accidentally at Las Vegas, Nevada on October 23, 20l0. He had recently moved to Las Vegas. He as born in Quincy December 22, 1965. Commander Callaghan received his commission from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD. in 1988 where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He received a Master of Arts Degree in Information Systems Management from Websters University, Kansas City, MO. In 2001 he attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. In 2006 Commander Callahan reported to the Navy Element, Command and General College, Fort Leavenworth, for instructor duty. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with four gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars and numerous unit and campaign awards. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service. He was a veteran of the Gulf War and other campaigns. In 2010 he began working for the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation in the Lower Colorado region office involving the waterways and Hoover Dam. Commander Callaghan is the beloved son of John “Jack” Peter Callaghan and Helen Callaghan of Braintree Highlands. He is the loving brother of John P. Callaghan, Jr. and Maureen A. Williams both of Braintree Highlands and Stephanie Radner married to Scott Radner of Dedham. He is the loving uncle of Colin, Andrew, Finn and Sarah. He maternal grandmother is Camille Rusnak of Lynn. He paternal grandparents are the late Bartley and Sarah Callaghan formerly of Dorchester. He is the nephew of Stephanie Rusnak of Swampscott and Francis and Alice Callaghan of Westwood. He is the husband of Chelle Burnett. There will be a gathering at the Mortimer N. Marshfield - Gertrude June Cunniff, 86 years of age, passed away Monday, November 1st in the Radius Healthcare Center at Quincy Medical Center. Gertrude was a bookkeeper and a supervisor at the Draper Laboratories-MIT in Cambridge for many years. She was an avid skier and Red Sox fan. Gertrude was an accomplished baker. She is survived by her sister Patsy Cunniff of Boston. She is sister of the late John Cunniff, Eugene Cunniff, James Cunniff, William Cunniff, Constance Cunniff, Mary Durkin, Dorothy Hayes, Mildred Ritchie, and Lillian Schell. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Funeral service will be held at the Mortimer N. Rockland – Lloyd Charles Buker, 91 years of age entered Life Eternal at his home in Rockland on January 10, 2011. He was born in Braintree on June 25, 1919 to Charles and Mary Ethel (King) Buker. He was a graduate of Braintree High School Class of 1937.
He became a graduate apprentice Pattern Maker for Fore River Shipyard in Quincy in 1942 and was a longtime employee of Bethlehem Steel Corporation and General Dynamics Corporation until the shipyard closed. He received Vocational Teaching Certificate in 1965. Lloyd attended and graduated from Fitchburg State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1972. Thereafter he received a Master of Education Degree from Boston State College in 1974. After his shipyard employment he became a teacher and taught at the Quincy Vocational Technical High School where he taught woodworking for nineteen years. An active member of the Masonic Order he was Master of Manet Lodge in Quincy during the years 1973 and 1974. Lloyd was a Braintree Town Meeting Member from 1959 until Town Meetings were abolished in 2008 making way for the new form of government under Mayor Sullivan. He was a Past Member of the Safari Club International. He was Past President of the Wardco Manufacturing Company of Braintree. He was known to be an avid hunter and golfer. Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy J. (Quigg) (Molineaux) Buker. He was the husband of the late Louise E. (Coolidge) Buker who died in 1988. He is the loving father of Raymond L. Buker and his wife Anne of Duxbury, Howard C. Buker and his wife Joan of Easton, Sandra L. Stack and her husband Don of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Beverly. Cangiano and her husband Franco of Maine. He is the step-father of John L. Molineaux and his wife Lisa of Rockland, Christine Toland and her husband John of Quincy and Joseph Molineaux of Rockland. Lloyd is also survived by twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Lloyd is survived by his brother, Earl Buker, of Sweden, Maine and his sister, Viola Cobb of Augusta, Georgia. Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington St., Braintree on Friday, January 14th from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Delta Lodge A.F. & A.M. will conduct a public Masonic Service at the funeral home Friday evening at 7:00 P.M. Plymouth – Peter Leonard Candelora, 35 years of age, passed away unexpectedly in Weymouth on Saturday, March 19, 2011. He was born in Weymouth and was a graduate of the South Shore Vocational Technical High School at Hanover. Peter had been a cook at the 99 Restaurants in Plymouth and Quincy. He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing, cooking and being outdoors. Peter was known for his art ability. He is survived by his father Leonard J. Connell - Reverend Father Stephen Jr., of Braintree, 75 years of age entered Life Eternal at his home in Braintree on Friday, April 1, 2011. He resided in Braintree since his retirement four years ago. He was a Parish Priest in the Diocese of Wilmington, Delaware. He was born in Boston September 29, 1935 a son of Stephen J. Connell and Mary V. (Gill) Connell. Father Connell graduated from Saint Bonaventure College and Christ the King Seminary both at Olean, New York. He was ordained in 1962 and served in the Priesthood for 48 years. He served as Pastor at Saint Joseph on the Brandywine at Wilmington, Delaware, Saint Mary Star of the Sea – Holy Saviour Parish at Ocean City, Delaware and the Church of the Holy Child at Wilmington, Delaware. Father Connell is the beloved brother of Richard E. Connell, Robert K. Connell and his wife Margaret, and James P. Connell all of Braintree, Mary E. Colley and her husband Frank of Arlington and Elaine N. Webb and her husband John of Quincy. He was the brother of the late Margaret F. Hatherley formerly of Weymouth. Father Connell is also survived by many nieces and nephews and by grandnieces and grandnephews. There will be Visiting Hours at the Mortimer N. Helen P. (Paul) Clement, 99 years of age, of Weymouth, passed away on Friday at the Colonial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Weymouth. She was the wife of the late Stanley L. Clement who died in 1992. Her late husband was a Dean of Continuing Studies at Bridgewater State College. Helen and Stanley Clement were the Parents of the late Sister Barbara Clement of the Sisters of Saint Joseph in Boston. A Prayer Service will be held at the Mortimer N.
