LITTLETON, Texas, on Sept. 17, 1957, the son of Charles A. and Joan (Pickard) McCorquodale. He grew up in Townsend, Mass., graduating from North Middlesex Regional School in 1976 and attended Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts State Corrections Officer for the past 14 years, working at the MCI Shirley and NCCI in Gardner, obtaining the rank of Sergeant in 1999. He had also worked as a police officer for the town of Royalston.
He was very active in youth sports, coaching teams in Townsend, Orange and Athol. He was a dog trainer and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member of the North New Salem Congregational Church.
He leaves his wife of 25 years, Pamela (Moore) McCorquodale; three sons, Joshua M. McCorquodale and his companion Amanda Smith of Athol, Shawn A. McCorquodale, Kyle D. McCorquodale; and a daughter, Sarah D. McCorquodale and her companion Brian Bauch, all of Royalston; his mother, Joan Pickard of Townsend; his father and step - mother, Charles and Charlotte J. McCorquodale of Murrells’s Inlet, Pennsylvania, Sandy Freeman, Debby Maciorowski, both of Gardner, Rhonda Whitman of New Salem, Kimberly Geddes of Massachusetts Team. He earned letters and pins in football, basketball, soccer and track and field.
He earned a bachelors degree in fine arts at the University of Connecticut and New York City. He and his wife settled in Plainfield, where he was employed by the United States Postal Service as a supervisor.
Besides his wife Yvonne Hammonds, he leaves his mother, Alice Lewis of Silver Spring, MD; his sister, Monica and Alfonzo Williams and family of Olney, MD; his brother Gassawallice and Marsha Lewis and family of Athol; and his brother Daniel and Dionesia Lewis of North Easton.
Anthony B. Butkus
Formerly Of Gardner
PHILLIPSTON - Anthony B. Butkus, 73, of 395 Petersham Rd., died on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, in the Athol Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Gardner and graduated from Florida; Jim Kelley of Royalston and Nantucket; Joseph Kelley of Duxbury and Tim Kelley of Kansas.
On Oct. 23, the Naval Academy honored his memory at a service in the Academy Chapel.
Eulogies were presented by Admiral Kinnaird McKee, U.S. Navy retired; Dr. Bruce Davidson, Academic Dean retired; and Dr. Don Wilckens, Captain U.S. Navy retired and head surgeon at the John Hopkins Hospital in Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Naval Academy Alumni Association, Class of 1976, at 247 King George St., Annapolis, MD 21402.
