Dies, Active In Petersham
PETERSHAM - Kathryn Brunelle, 75, of 53 East St., died on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare.
She was born in Petersham on April 8, 1928 the daughter of Albert S. and Marguerite (Barnes) Brunelle. A life - long resident of Petersham she graduated from Petersham High School in 1945.
Ms. Brunelle worked as an operator and supervisor for the telephone company for 43 years. She was a communicant of St. Peters Church in Petersham. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 415 in Petersham where she was the current treasurer and past president. She was the registrar of voters and a teller at local elections, she was very active in town events and committees and was recently recognized as Petersham Citizen of The Year. She organized card parties for St. Peters Church and the Ledgeville School House. She was treasurer and secretary of the Petersham High School Alumni Association. She was a charter member of the Petersham Council on Aging. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was an avid card player and enjoyed puzzles.
She leaves a brother, George F. Brunelle of Petersham; a nephew, Bernard Brunelle of Port Charlotte, Fla.; five nieces, Bernice Lewis of Ocean Isle, N.C., Jeannine Pimental, Jackie Bronson, Denise Cooley all of Barre, Janet Bromlage of Pons Inlet, Fla.; and many grand nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 8, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peters Church, Main Street.
Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
Calling hours are today from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St., Athol.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to the Petersham American Legion Auxiliary Unit 415 Petersham, Mass. 01366 or to the Oncology Department - Athol Memorial Hospital 2033 Main St., Athol, Mass. 01331.
Grace A. Comradi
ATHOL - Grace A. (Brown) Conradi, 82, formerly of 739 Daniel Shays Hwy., died on Saturday, June 28, 2003 in the Quabbin Valley Nursing Home in Athol after a long illness.
She was born in Newark, N.J., on Nov. 11, 1920, daughter of the late James and Emily (White) Brown and lived several years in Germany, New Hampshire and again in Calif.; one daughter, Linda R. Oldach of Athol; one sister, Betty Brauer of New Jersey, predeceased her.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
There are no calling hours.
The family has asked that contributions in her memory be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 - 4688 or to the American Lung Association of N.Y.
Calling hours at the Walker Funeral Home, 14 High St., Greenfield, will be Tuesday, July 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be Wednessday, July 9 at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Charles Tyree, pastor of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Greenfield.

Chemical Engineer
ORANGE - A. Gordon Hastings, 91, of San Diego, Calif, formerly of Orange, died May 18, 2003 in San Diego.
Born in Lynn, MA., Dec. 25, 1911, a son of Howard and Lottie (Beckwirth) Hastings, he grew up on West Main St., Orange and graduated from Orange High School in 1929.
A chemical engineer, he was a graduate of Northeastern University, Boston. After working at Greenfield Tap & Die Company, Greenfield for several years, he moved to Florida and formerly of Orange who died on June 26, 2003 at the University Of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare - Campus, Worcester, MA after being stricken ill while traveling to New England.
The Rev. Fr. William Lunney officiated. Janet Paoletti was the organist and Theresa Bergquist was the cantor. Roger Mallet offered the Readings. Interment followed in South Cemetery with a reception in St. Mary's Parish Hall following the committal service.

Laughton Services
ORANGE - Graveside services were held on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 in South Cemetery for Edward F. Laughton, 83, formerly of Red Brook Village, who died on June 21, 2003 at the Harborside - Applewood Healthcare in Winchester, NH. Gene A. Laurendeau officiated.
A color guard and honor guard were present from the Orange Police Department. Susan Dunbar was the sololist and John "Spider" Smith, Dept. Surgeon of American Legion Post 172 presented the flag to Mr. Laughton's son, John.
A reception followed at the home of John and Lynn Laughton.

Brailey Services
ATHOL - Funeral services for Linda M. (LaFountain) Brailey, 36, of 252 South St., were held in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home on Monday, June 30, 2003. The Reverend Harvey Collins, interim minister for the Starrett Memorial Methodist Church, conducted the service.
Bearers were Norman La Fountain, Gary LaFountain, Dennis LaFountain, Elton LaFountain, Lawrence LaFountain and John Fortwengler.
