Wesockes Services
ATHOL - Funeral services for George A. Wesockes, 84, of 169 South Athol Rd., who died Jan. 29, 2004 at the University of Mass. Medical Center, were held Monday, Feb. 2, 2004.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at the St. Francis of Assisi Church by Father James Callahan, associate pastor. Theresa Gabis was the cantor and organist.
The pall was placed on the casket by Timothy and Crystal Wesockes. The gifts were brought forward by Lynn Wesockes, Kaitlin Mabey, and Bonnie Wesockes.
Burial followed at Gethsemane Cemetery.
The bearers were: Raymond St. Hilaire, Dell St. Hilaire, Kenneth St. Hilaire, Andrew St. Hilaire, Timothy St. Hilaire, John Porter and Keith Johnson.
Members of the American Legion, Robert Carey, Victor Litchfield, Peter Krustapentus, and James Robideau, conducted a service and presented the American flag to his wife, Helen Wesockes.
The J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home directed arrangements.
Myrtle E. King
PETERSHAM - Myrtle E. King, 80, of 62 South St., died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home, Fitchburg.
Among her survivors she leaves two brothers, John A. LePoer and Bernard A. LePoer, and one sister, May (LePoer) MacDonnell.
She was predeceased by one son, Raymond F. King; three brothers, C. Frederick Coolidge, Earle B. Coolidge and Roger E. Coolidge; two sisters, Grace (Coolidge) Barnes and Marion (Coolidge) Russesll; and one grandchild, Jennifer L. Stowers.
Myrtle and Gilbert were planning to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary as of Feb. 3, 2004.
James M. Bednarz

NEW SALEM - James M. Bednarz, 47, of 96 Michael Lane, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 at the Athol Memorial Hospital where he had been taken by ambulance.
Born in Holyoke, Sept. 11, 1956, a son of Michael J. and Ann L. (Gagnon) Bednarz, he grew up in Chicopee and graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1974.
After moving to New Salem in 1974, he and his father founded Orange Cash and Carry Lumber Co., Orange. He served as vice president of the company for several years. He was sales manager of Leader Home Center, Greenfield, where he had worked for the past five years.
An outdoorsman, he enjoyed winter sports, four wheeling and boating.
He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Well known for his hospitality, he served breakfast every Sunday morning to his friends and neighbors at his clubhouse on Eagleville Pond.
He leaves his mother, Ann Bednarz of New Salem; his fiancee, Kathryn Norton of New Salem; two sons, Daniel Bednarz of Westfield and Jeremy Bednarz of Athol; three daughters, Julie Adams of Orange, Catherine DeGrood of NC, Shirley Bryfogle of Greenwood, DE, and Althea Allen of PA; six grandchildren, Emily Dumas and Catherine Dumas of Worcester, Zachary Robson of Southborough, Steven Waugh, Alexandra Waugh, and Ariana Waugh, all of GA; nephews and nieces. He also leaves the Theodoss family whom he has adopted and treated as his own. He was born in Worcester, son of Norman C. and Doris (Wolcott) Allen and lived there all his life, before moving here two years ago. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. He was a purchasing agent for the Neles Jamesbury Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1997. Mr. Allen was a member of the Greendale Retired Mens Club and the American Bowling Congress. He was an avid bowler.
Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Norman's memory may be made to Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital, 189 May St., Worcester, MA 01602. DIRSA - MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., Worcester, is assisting with arrangements.
Lorraine M. (Proulx) Bouthiller, 73
PAXTON- Lorraine M. (Proulx) Bouthiller, 73, of 19 Walbridge Rd., formerly of Southbridge, died Friday, Dec. 10th, in Hospice Residence, 10 Judith Rd., Worcester, after an illness.
She leaves a son, Richard L. Bouthiller of Paxton; a grandson, Jared R. Bouthiller of Providence, RI; nieces and nephews. Her daughter, Michelle Bouthiller, died in 1996. She is also predeceased by two brothers, Norman C. Proulx and Roland G. Proulx. She was born in Southbridge, the daughter of Charles and Lorina (Letourneau) Proulx.
Lorraine was the owner and operator of Curtain Concepts in Southbridge and Sturbridge for over 30 years. Recently she was a decorating consultant for Porro’s in Worcester. She was a member of St. Columba Church in Paxton and was a member of the Womens Outdoor Sports Club in Worcester.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 15th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Notre Dame Church, 446 Main St., Southbridge. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge. A calling hour at the funeral home will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 15th, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass.

Alfred J. Bacigalupo Jr.
Mechanic, Veteran
ATHOL - Alfred J. Bacigalupo Jr., 56, of 59 Park St., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 at the Athol Memorial Hospital following an illness.
He was born in Montague on Nov. 19, 1947, the son of the late Alfred J. Bacigalupo Sr., and Irene T. (St. John) Bacigalupo.
He was a 1966 graduate of Athol High School. He served in the United States Navy for three years, and the Army National Guard for 18 years. He worked as a mechanic at a plastic company for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 102 of Athol, and a member of the South Athol United Methodist Church. He was an outdoor sportsman enjoying hunting, fishing and camping.
Mr. and Mrs. Bacigalupo were married on Aug. 30, 1986.
He leaves his wife, Wendy A. (Carey) Bacigalupo of Athol; a son, Justin R. Bacigalupo of Athol; two daughters, Jessica L. Bacigalupo and Jennifer L. Bacigalupo, both of Athol; two sisters, Rosemarie Duel of Phillipston, and Louise M. Bacigalupo of Erving.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas Macewkeon will officiate.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Walter C. Ware

ATHOL - Walter C. Ware, whose friends knew him as “Gooch," 80, of 132 Simonds St., died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004 at the Athol Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Athol on Dec. 27, 1923, the son of Clinton and Lillian May (Benjamin) Ware and the stepson of Edward W. Ogilvie. He grew up in Orange and graduated from Orange High School in 1942. He moved back to 132 Simonds St., (the house he was born in) in 1942.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy as a radioman third class. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked at the Union Twist Drill for seven years. He then went to work for the Boston Mutual Life for four years, and for Metropolitan Life for 21 years. After leaving Metropolitan, he worked for the Digital Corporation in Westminster until his retirement in 1985.
He coached little league in Athol for 19 years and was chairman of the Athol Recreation Commission for 10 years. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 102, VFW Post 650, and the Athol - Orange Elks. He was a sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed baseball. His hobbies included coin collecting, swing music, and dancing. Gardening was his favorite hobby, having pride in his vegetable garden and flowers.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Mary (Palazzi) Ware of Athol; four sons, William B. Ware and his wife Colleen of Central Square, Calif., twins Robert E. Ware and his wife Linda of Lake Oswego, Ore. and Richard E. Ware and his wife Laura of Longwood, Fla.; one daughter, Susan M. Dornbos and her husband William of Woodlands, Texas; and nine grandchildren, Jonathan, Jennifer, and Katherine of Lake Oswego, Robert of Woodlands, Tyler, Timothy Jason and Kenneth of Central Square, and Alexandra and Logan of Longwood.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 4 p.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home.
There are no calling hours.

Myrtle E. King
Active In Community
PETERSHAM - Myrtle E. King, 80, of 62 South St., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home, Fitchburg.
She was born in Petersham on Feb. 21, 1923, the daughter of Bernard A. LePoer and Myrtle F. (Barnes) LePoer, and was a lifelong resident of Petersham.
She attended Petersham High School. She worked as a telephone operator, at the Barre Woolen Mill Company, and did private home nursing. She taught home economics at the Maria Assumption Academy. She was a Girl Scout leader in Petersham for many years. She was a member of the Catholic Women's League, the St. Peter's Church Sodality, the Petersham Grange, the Petersham Women's Auxiliary, and the American Legion Post 415 of Petersham. She was a member of the St. Peter's Church and enjoyed crafts.
Mr. and Mrs. King were married on Feb. 3, 1940.
She leaves her husband of 63 years, Gilbert M. King Sr., of Petersham; two sons, Gilbert M. King Jr. of Petersham and Earle W. King of Athol; a daughter, Ellen Stowers of Derry, NH; two brothers, John P. LePoer and Bernard A. LePoer, both of Petersham; 10 grandchildren and four great - grandchidlren. A son, Raymond King, died in 2001.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5 with a 10 a.m. Mass in St. Peter's Church.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2 to 3:30 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St., Athol.
Burial will be in East Cemetery.
