100 - Yr. - Old Athol Woman
ATHOL - Catherine M. (Forsyth) Shute, 100, of town, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, in Baldwinville Nursing Home.
She was born on July 28, 1903 in Boston, the daughter of James S. and Jeanie (Gowans) Forsyth. She grew up in Dorchester and attended schools there.
Her family moved to Orleans, MA and she graduated from Orleans High School.
Mrs. Shute was a homemaker; she resided in Connecticut from 1959 to 1975, when she moved to Braintree to live with her sister until 2000.
She enjoyed sewing and traveling.
She leaves two daughters, Jean C. Clough of Hanover, Marie L. Cunningham of Templeton; a sister, Jean Hutchinson of Braintree; four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Her husband, Robert W. Shute, who died in 1975, a sister, Jessie Taylor, and two brothers, William Forsyth and John Forsyth, all predeceased her.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home 1356 Main St., Athol.
Burial will be private.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Baldwinville Nursing Home 51 Hospital Rd., Baldwinville, MA 01436.

Harry L. Cetrone
ATHOL - Among the survivors of Harry L. Cetrone, age 82, of 739 Daniel Shays Hwy., who died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at home, are companions Melanie and Kevin Edens of Athol and Emelda Haughton of Phillipston.
His companion of many years, Helen Boudreau, died in 2002.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home. Burial will be private, and there are no calling hours.
Eileen C. Buckley
ATHOL - Eileen C. (Deere) Buckley, 95, of 1820 Main St., died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, in the Athol Memorial Hospital.

Bertha M. Simeone

ORANGE - Bertha M. (Flemming) Simeone, 79, of 10 Sunset Dr., died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004 in the Athol Memorial Hospital, where she had been taken after being stricken ill at home.
Born in Barre, March 13, 1924, a daughter of Irving and Hazel (Grimes) Flemming, she grew up in Barre and graduated from Barre High School in 1942.
She came to Orange 45 years ago and worked at Riveto Manufacturing Co. more than 20 years before retiring.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She enjoyed trips to the ocean, reading, cooking, playing cards and movies.
She leaves her beloved husband of 45 years, Gildo J. Simeone; two sons, Michael DiRuzza and wife, Norma of Harwich, Peter Simeone and wife, Peggy of Virginia Beach, Va.; three daughters, Linda Chiasson and husband, Douglas of Athol, Mary Ann Burnett and husband, David of Orange, Paula Whelpley and husband Jeffrey of Athol; nine grandchildren, Kristen Quido of Macon, MO, Michael DiRuzza, Jr. of Sturbridge, Nicole Marion of Gill, Nathan Burnett of Erving, Matthew and Meagan Simeone of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeffrey Robichaud, Nicholas and Ryan Whelpley all of Athol; eight great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. in Witty's Funeral Home. The Rev. Fr. William Lunney of St. Mary's Church will officiate.
Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours are from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the charity's of one choice.

Starrett Retiree
WARWICK - Emily L. (Hubbard) Benoit, 86, of 24 Kirk Rd., died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004 in the Harborside Applewood Healthcare, Winchester, NH.
Born in Warwick, on May 31, 1917, a daughter of Walter and Carrie (Fisher) Hubbard, she attended the Brush Valley School, graduated from Orange High School in 1935 and lived in Warwick most of her life.
She worked at the L.S. Starrett Company 30 years, until her retirement.
A member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church and Warwick Women's Guild, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and making quilts.
She loved her family and many friends.
Her husband, Wilfred H. Benoit, died in, 2002, and a son, Richard Taylor died in 2003.
She leaves a son, Bruce Benoit of Warwick; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be held at Center Cemetery in the spring.
There are no calling hours.

Harry L. Cetrone
U.S. Army Veteran
ATHOL - Harry L. Cetrone, age 82, of 739 Daniel Shays Hwy., died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at home of natural causes.
He was born on May 7, 1921 in Shelton, Conn., the son of William Olento and Frances Nichols Cetrone, and lived in Woods Mobile Home Park.
He was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, from January 1943 to March 1946. He was a military policeman in the 789th Military Police Battalion, 65th Infantry Division and 9th Infantry Division. He served in the African, European Theatre operations, in France, Germany and Austria. He was stationed in Linz, Austria when the war ended in May 1945. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 102 in Athol.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home.
Burial will be private, and there will be no calling hours.
Ellis services
ATHOL - Funeral services for William Ellis Sr., 87, of 493 Pequoig Ave. were held Thursday, Jan. 15, at Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold V. Lloyd Jr., pastor of Athol Congregational Church officiating.
Several members of the family shared memories and a reception followed at the Ellinwood Country Club. Private burial was held Saturday, in Silver Lake Cemetery.
