ATHOL - Gerald D. Messier, of town, passed away at his home after a battle with cancer.
He is the beloved husband of Jocelyn Messier (Sturrock - Robertson). Son of the late Leonard and Yvonne Messier of Marlborough, brother of Ronald (deceased), Paul and Roger Messier of Marlborough, and sister Rhea (Messier) Zanca of York Beach, Maine, and most of all spending time with his wife Jocelyn, his family and his grandchildren.
He was born in Marlborough and moved to Athol two years ago.
Calling hours will be held today at the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central St., (Rte. 62), Hudson, from 4 to 8 p.m. with services at 7 p.m.
Burial will be private.
Henry Schneider
Former UTD Machinist
ATHOL - Henry Schneider, 65, of 97 Burma Rd., died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004 in the St. Vincent Medical Center, Worcester, following an illness.
He was born in Laurel, Miss. on Oct. 31, 1938, the son of Henry and Nellie (Martin) Schneider and had lived in Athol since 1972.
He was a machinist operator at the former Union Twist Drill Company. He was a former member of the Athol - Orange Lodge of Elks. He attended the Evangelical Peoples Congregational Church in Ashburnham.
He leaves his wife, Edith (Reed) Schneider of Athol, and two sons, Joseph D. Schneider of Greenfield and Geoffrey L. Schneider of Athol.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, in the John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner. The Reverend Mark Bariloni, pastor of the Athol - Orange Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in New Cemetery, Ashburnham, in the spring.
A calling hour from noon to 1 p.m. will be held prior to the funeral service in the funeral home.
Glenn H. Copeland
Mechanic, Veteran
WARWICK - Glenn H. Copeland, 74, of 259 Rabbit Hollow Rd., Winchester, NH, and formerly of Warwick, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004 in the Harborside Applewood Healthcare, Winchester.
Born in Warwick on March 4, 1929, a son of William and Marian E. (Harris) Copeland, he grew up and attended schools in Warwick.
He continued his education at the New Salem Academy, New Salem before entering the U.S. Air Force in 1947. He served during the Korean Conflict with the Air Police Unit and also served as an Honor Guard on burial details for serviceman who died during the war.
An auto mechanic at Johnnie's Sales and Service for many years, he enjoyed working on cars and trucks. Previously he worked for Wheaton Plumbing in Orange.
He lived in Texas and Rachel Bergquist and husband, Roger of Warwick; many nephews and nieces including a niece, Marian Brostek of Winchester, who was his caregiver.
He was predeceased by a brother, William Copeland, Jr., two sisters, Fannie Pippin and Emma McKnight.
A grave side service will be held at the Center Cemetery, Warwick, in the spring.

Kenneth R. Holmes

Born in Worcester on Aug. 3, 1966 he grew up and attended school in Spencer. A resident of Fitchburg for over 10 years, he moved to Orange in 1997 and later to Athol in 1999.
He was a park ranger at Mount Monadnock in Wisconsin; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, on Tuesday, Jan. 20 followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady Immaculate Church at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
A calling hour at the funeral home will precede the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

NEW SALEM - A memorial service for Lillian V. (Dill) Miller, 93, of 125 Fay Rd., was held Thursday, Jan. 15, in Witty's Funeral Home, Orange. The Rev. Edward T. Boren of North New Salem Congregational Church officiated. Organist was Janet Boren and soloist, Jennifer Gray. Burial was in South Cemetery, Orange. A reception followed at the home of Robert and Joni Duley.
Paul Partridge
DENVER, Colo. - Paul Partridge, 82, of Denver, formerly of Orange, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004.
He leaves three sons, Paul Jr., Brendan and James; two sisters, Virginia Collins of Orange and Barbara Belletete of Athol; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Amelia E. Karpowich
ATHOL - Amelia E. Karpowich, 86, of 821 Daniel Shays Hwy., died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004.
