ORANGE - Richard A. Gowey, 44, of 6 North Main St., died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004 in Athol Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Athol on Aug. 23, 1959, son of the late Robert and Jacqueline (Morin) Gowey and lived here all of his life.
He is survived by one son, Christopher A. LeClaire of Fitzwilliam, NH; his longtime companion, Lori B. LaRhette, with whom he lived; six brothers, Robert Gowey, Jr. of Ware, Alfred Gowey and Dean Gowey, both of Turners Falls, John Gowey of Lowell, Steven Gowey of Greenfield and Matthew Gowey of Fitzwilliam; three sisters, Pollyanna Zatowski of Fitzwilliam, Shirley Paige of Richmond and Lisa Pringle of Keene; and one granddaughter, Abigail LeClaire of Fitzwilliam.
The funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family.
There are no visiting hours.

Marion T. Sarsfield
WORCESTER - Marion T. (Looney) Sarsfield, 76, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, in Memorial Hospital after an illness.
Bradley W. Schwab
Toxicologist
ATHOL - Bradley W. Schwab, 53 of 186 Wallingford Ave., died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at home after an illness.
He was born in Blue Island, IL, the son of the late Robert W. and Texas in Houston.
Mr. Schwab married Margaret S. Shaughnessy on Aug. 21, 1976. He was a resident of Athol for the past 20 years.
He was a toxicologist employed by AMEC in Westford for the past 10 years.
He leaves his wife of 27 years, Margaret S. (Shaughnessy) Schwab; a daughter, Mary Claire Schwab of Orford, NH; a son, Robert Shaughnessy Schwab of Athol; his mother, Maine.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 7, from Fiske Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at noon in the Our Lady Immaculate Church.
Burial will be private at a later date.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice.
James C. Stewart, Jr.
Motors Owner
ORANGE - James C. Stewart, Jr., 80, of 519 East River St., died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 in the Heywood Hospital in Gardner.
He was born in Cape May, NJ, on Feb. 21, 1923, son of the late James C. and Margaret E. (Owens) Stewart and lived here many years. He was a graduate of the Athol High School class of 1942 and was his class president.
His wife, Esther M. (McDonald) Stewart, died in 1978.
For 18 years, he owned and operated James Stewart Motors. Following his retirement in 1984, he moved to Las Vegas and resided there before returning to Orange in 1999.
He was a communicant of the Our Lady Immaculate in Athol and a member of the Athol/Orange Elks, the American Legion in Athol and a former member of the Athol Boosters, the Ellinwood Country Club and STEBS.
He enjoyed golf, Las Vegas, talking at the local coffee shops and playing cards.
He is survived by one daughter, Bonnie L. Stewart of Athol; his companion for 25 years, Natalie J. (Trenoweth) Russell, with whom he lived; two sisters, Marguerite Donnelly of Fitchburg and Cynthia Trinque of East Bridgewater; Natalie's four children, Lynn Tepper of Manchester, NH, Patti Dodge of Athol, Sharon Deane of Orange and Thomas Russell of Ware; his sister - in - law, Elizabeth MacDonald of Athol and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Howard MacDonald and Roger MacDonald, and two sisters, Dorothy Stone and Winifred Gormley, all of Athol.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home in Athol on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady Immaculate Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. today.

Louise J. MacDonald
Insurance Co. Worker
ATHOL - Louise J. (Young) MacDonald, 79, of 739 Daniel Shays Hwy., died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at her home.
She was born in Lexington, Mass. on Oct. 25, 1924, the daughter of Ralph and Josephine (Laviguerre) Young. She grew up in Lexington, graduating from Lexington High School.
She later had lived in Newton, Maynard, Acton and East Lempster, NH, and since 2001 had resided in Athol.
She had worked for 12 years at Sentry Insurance Company in Concord. She was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church, enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, and gardening in her earlier years. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She leaves her husband of 47 years, James C. MacDonald; four sons, H. Richard Stanley of Rutland, Paul Stanley of Austin, N.H. on June 5, 1919, son of the late Ivoe and Myrtle (Shute) Haynes.
Mr. Haynes was a United States Army Veteran of World War II.
He leaves no immediate survivors.
A graveside service will take place in the chapel at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 1 p.m.
