ORANGE - Eunice B. (Taylor) Mackie, 74, of 419 East River St., died Monday, April 12, 2004 in the Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield.
Born in Wendell, on Jan. 22, 1930, a daughter of Warren E. and Maude A. (Carey) Taylor, she grew up in Wendell and lived in the Franklin County area all of her life.
Prior to retiring, she worked as a nurse's aide in the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility, Greenfield. She had previously worked as a cashier at the Stop and Shop Supermarket, Greenfield.
A graduate of New Salem Academy in 1948, she enjoyed her family, especially her many grand and great - grandchildren. She was an enthusiastic reader, liked to play the lottery, and visiting with people.
She was predeceased by two sons, Robert Berry in 1950 and Kenneth Paul Berry in 2000; two brothers, Norman Taylor and Warren Taylor, Jr.; four sisters, Alberta Hodkins, Myrtle Randell, Dorie Kaplan and Beatrice Brown.
She leaves five sons, James Berry and wife, Rose of Turners Falls, Douglas Berry of Greenfield, William Berry and wife, Sally of Orange, Charles Berry and wife, Doris of Whitinsville and Michael Porey and wife Carol of Ararat, Va.; three daughters, Nancy Porey of Brattleboro, Vt., Joan Goulette of Athol and Carol Kazinkas of Orange; a brother, Wayne Taylor of West Royalston; two sisters, Janice MacEwen of Athol and Rosetta Ramsdell of Orange; 26 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 15 at 2 p.m. in Witty's Funeral Home. The Rev. Vance E. Frank will officiate.
Burial will be in South Cemetery, and a reception will follow at the American Legion Hall, 30 Whitney St.
There will be a calling hour from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday.

ORANGE - Funeral services were held on Monday, April 12, 2004 in Witty's Funeral Home for Destan Berisha, 82, of 130 Colrain Rd. in Greenfield and formerly of Holtshire Road, Orange, who died Saturday, April 10, 2004 in the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility, Greenfield. Following the Muslim prayers offered by Clerics from Thompson of Athol; four sisters, Myrna and husband Donald Bruce of Broomfield, Texas, and Peggy Schemahorn and Louise Greene, both of Wichita; one brother, Clarence W. Fell Jr. of Fort Smith, Ark.; two sisters - in - law, Janet Burdett of Orange and Irene Canavan of North Randolph; long - time, close friend Betty Soucie; several nieces and nephews; many friends; and her beloved cat Jessie. A sister, Jacqueline Fell, of Wichita, died in 1998.
By Patsy’s own request, there will be no formal mass or funeral services. Following cremation, a private memorial ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested by the family that contributions be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice. Sympathy cards can be mailed to the family at P.O. Box 452, Athol, Mass., 01331.

Destan Berisha
Insurance Co. Worker
ORANGE - Destan Berisha, 82, of 130 Colrain Rd. in Greenfield, and formerly of Holtshire Road in Orange, died on Saturday morning, April 10, 2004 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield following an illness.
Born in Kosova, Yugoslavia on April 16, 1921, he was a son of Sait and Zam (Ramadan) Berisha and grew up there before moving to New York, he worked for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for many years and then moved to Northampton, Mass.
An attendant at the Northampton State Hospital for 14 years, he retired in 1979 and moved to Orange in 1993.
He was married to Ottilie (Steer) for many years. She died on Oct. 14, 2001.
Destan is survived by sisters living in Kosova; friends, Charles and Estelle Elliott of Northampton and Ajrac "Avis" Misini of Florida, and Paul Britt of Orange; four step - daughters, Sharon Mason of Athol, Lucille Carpenter of Orange, Roberta Britt of Athol,and Corrine Britt of Springfield; two grandchildren, Robert J. Blaser, Jr. of Petersham, Katherine M. Blaser of Leominster; two great - grandchildren, Krystel M. Jankowski of Leominster, and Lance J. Crossman, Jr., of Orange; several step - grandchildren and step great - grandchildren; a brother, Orson H. Rathburn, Jr. of Orange; four sisters, Anna L. Angelini of Somerset, Edith L. Anders of Falmouth, Bonnie J. Woodbury of Athol, and Irene Cusato of Advance, Maine, formerly of Wendell, died March 27, 2004 at the Skolfield House, Brunswick.
Born in West Dummerston, Vt., on Jan. 5, 1923, he was the son of Frank J. and Rose M. (Swindell) Hildreth. He attended West Dummerston schools.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Oklahoma Division. He married the former Yvonne Simmonds on March 14, 1945. She died June 16, 1982.
Hildreth was employed for 25 years at the Ashuelot Paper Co. in Maine in April 2001.
Besides his sister, Bertha Richardson of Greenfield, survivors include four sons, Peter Hildreth of Athol, Joseph W. Jr. and his wife, Paula, Rusty and his wife, Monica, both of Brunswick, and David J. and his wife, Nancy, of Hollywood, Fla.; two daughters, Geneva Lachut of Palmer and Debra Taylor of Fort Mill, S.C.; and many grandchildren, great - grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held March 31 at the Brackett Funeral Home. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Winchester, Maine 04086.
