ATHOL - Gladys M. (Robichaud) Venette, 93, formerly of town, died March 27, 2004 in the Lourdes - Noreen McKeen Residence of West Palm Beach, Fla. where she had been a resident since July, 2003.
She was born in Athol on Feb. 11, 1911, daughter of the late Phillip and Madeline (Savoy) Robichaud.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis (Buck) Venette. She is survived by one son, Wayne E. Venette and his wife Donna of West Springfield, and one daughter, Lana M. Boutot and her husband Dennis of Boca Raton, Fla.; two grandsons, Steven Venette and Scott Boutot and a step grandson, Grant Richardson, Jr. and step great - grandson Grant Richardson III. She is also survived by one sister, Annie (Robichaud) Mallett of Athol. She was predeceased by two brothers, Leroy and Peter Robichaud; five sisters, Ezilda Robichaud, Mabel Savoy, Beatrice Gibbs, Alice Mailloux and Cecile Greene and several nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family.

ORANGE - Corinne J. (Levasseur) Savaria, 92, of 465 Tully Rd., Orange, and formerly of 24 Leamy St., Gardner, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 in her residence.

ORANGE - Gloria P. (Goodwin) Bobilin, 78, formerly of 7 Eddy St., died Sunday, March 28, 2004, in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Fiske Funeral Home are incomplete.

ORANGE - Ivar “Scottie” Lawson Jr., formerly of Orange, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at his home in Starks, La.
A native of Orange, Mass., Larson was born on Sept. 16, 1927, to Ivar Lawson Sr. and Mabel (Peterson) Lawson. After serving in the United States Navy in World War II, he moved to Starks and went to work for Temple Inland as a machinist.
He was a life member of the VFW Post 2885 of Orange, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Belva “Ma Bell” Lawson, of Starks, La.; sons, Michael Lawson, Marion, Texas; and Ivar B. “Chris” Lawson, Starks, La.; daughters, Gwen Hutchison, of Starks, La., Sandra Deranger of Deweyville, Texas. Veterans of Foreign Wars Chaplain Hank Perkins officiated the service; and burial was in the VFW Cemetery in Starks.
Richard Stowell Sr.

ATHOL - Richard (Dick) Stowell Sr., 61, formerly of Athol, died Friday, March 19, 2004 in Crossville, Tenn.
He was born in Greenfield on May 19, 1942 to Leoman and Norma (Haselton) Stowell.
He leaves his wife, Ruby; a brother, Doug and wife Florence of Virginia; a half - brother, Leoman Jr. and wife Jean of Athol; half - sisters, Linda McKnight and husband Kevin of Orange, and Pansey McKnight and Will of Orange; a son, Richard (Ricky Jr.) of Cape Cod and a daughter, Rhonda of Springfield; a stepdaughter, Julie Adams of Petersham; and step - sons Rick Valley of Athol, and Shawn Valley and wife Tina of Orange, one grandchild, seven step - grandchildren, and nephews and nieces.
He is predeceased by a sister Cindy Pace and a brother Dennis.
He graduated from Pioneer Valley Regional School in Northfield. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Virginia. In 1961 he joined the United States Air Force and served until 1965 when he joined the United States Navy, retiring in 1978. He served in Vietnam for two tours and received the Purple Heart while there.
He was a life member of the DAV Chapter 46, founder of the AmVets and life member of Post 793, VFW Post 2158 Winchendon, life member of VVA, life member of Chapter 340, American Legion Post 102.
In the veteran organizations he held many town and state offices.
He was executive director of the Montachusett Veteran Outreach Center in Gardner, and counselor for 16 years for substance abuse, alcohol and drugs.
He worked for Hannaford security and was a private investigator in South Carolina and Virginia.
He worked for GAAHA, Gardner for many years, then in Gardner for a few years and had also managed a service station in Gardner for several years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 27, at noon in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 16 West St., Leominster. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.

ATHOL - A Memorial Service was held for Dot F. (Kennedy) Wallace, 71, of 137 Hill St., on Wednesday, March 24, at Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home, with the Rev. Peter Hey, pastor of Christ United Methodist
Church in Northampton. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery at a later date. A reception was held following the service at the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church.
David A. Ambrose

ATHOL - David A. Ambrose, 62, of 140 Fish St., died on Monday morning, March 22, 2004 at the Farren Care Center, Montague, following an illness.
Born in Athol on June 11, 1941, he was a son of Walter P. And Mary A. (Pazora) Ambrose and grew up in Athol, having attended schools there.
He was employed by the L. S. Starrett Company in Athol as a sandblaster for 38 years starting in July of 1963. He left the company in November of 2001 due to illness.
A hardworking and caring man, he enjoyed skiing, watching TV, and working around the house. He was also a member of the Franco - American Club in Athol.
Survivors include his companion of many years, Theresa Tillson, with whom he lived in Athol; a daughter, Mary Ambrose of Athol; sons David Langlois of Athol and Edward Langlois of Daytona, Fla.; two grandchildren of Daytona; a sister, Natalie Ferrari of Athol; a brother, Walter Ambrose of Palm Beach, Fla.; step daughters, Jean Smith of Athol and Corrine Nubuor of Worcester; and step sons, Thomas Smith of Athol and Henry F. Smith of Radcliff, Ky.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 26, from the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the St. Francis of Assisi Church. Interment will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Marion J. Lefebre
Former Dietitian
FELTON, Del. - Marion J. (Smith) Lefebre, 79, formerly of Orange, Mass. and Dover, Del., died March 13, 2004 in the Bayhealth Kent General hospital after a long illness.
She was born on July 16, 1924 in Wallingford, Conn., the daughter of the late Albert and Florence (Gingras) Smith.
She married Francis F. Lefebre of Orange, on June 24, 1950 where they raised their family until Francis was transferred to Dover with General Foods.
She was formerly a dietitian. She was employed at Grants Department Store and Capital Cleaners. For many years she did volunteer work with the food pantry at Holy Cross. She also handed out calendars and water to residents at Westminster Village, and was a member of the Samaritans and St. Mary's Woman's Club at Holy Cross.
Her favorite hobbies were knitting, cross stitch, needlepoint and reading. She also enjoyed traveling, and traveled to Bermuda, Canada, and Panama, among other places.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Francis, on June 24, 1986 which was their 36th wedding anniversary. Their son, Craig J. Lefebre, predeceased her on Nov. 22, 1993.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna J. Freck and her husband John of Felton, and Anne - Marie Smith and her husband Robert of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Bernice M. Stone and her husband John of Orange; and four grandchildren, Nadine, Brian, and Philip Smith all of Mesa, and Jennifer Albright of Felton.
Burial was in Sharon Hill Cemetery.
