ATHOL - Funeral services for Irene Rochon Wright, 90, who died March 15, 2004 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, were held Monday, March 22.
Reverend John Kelly celebrated the funeral Mass at the Holy Cross Church in East Templeton. Readings were shared by Deborah Knott, granddaughter, and Evan Knott, great grandson. The gifts were presented by Paul and Barbara Rochon.
Burial followed at St. Michael's Cemetery in Springfield. The bearers were: Paul Rochon, Glenn Rochon, Daniel Rochon, Evan Knott, Brady Knott, and Greg Rushford.
Prayers at the cemetery were offered by Bill Knott.
The J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home directed the arrangements.
David A. Ambrose
ATHOL - David A. Ambrose, 62, of 140 Fish St., died Monday morning, March 22, 2004, at the Farren Care Center in Montague following an illness.
Funeral arrangements are pending with the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home in Athol.
Dennis L. White

WHEELWRIGHT - Dennis L. White, 67, of 41 Church Ln., died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at his home.
He was born in Tacoma, Wash., Feb. 27, 1937, a son of Charles and Ruth (Jones) White. He grew up on Vashon Island, Wash., and graduated from Vashon Island High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army for three years and had lived and worked throughout the United States. Mr. White worked in civil services for the U.S. Government for over 30 years, working with the Army, Air Force and the Navy. He retired in 1992 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Maynard. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and was a member of A.A.R.P.
He leaves his wife of 25 years, Elaine (McGowan) White; a son, Leon White of Adams; two daughters, Roxann White of Valdez, Alaska, Rosella White of Bonner, Mont.; three grandsons, William and Charles Breedlove of Bonner, and Landon White of Adams. He was predeceased by a brother Larry and a sister Lorna.
At Mr. White’s request no funeral services or calling hours are planned. Private burial will be on Vashon Island at a later date.

ATHOL - Dorothy F. “Dot” (Kennedy) Wallace, 71, of 137 Hill St., died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at her home.
She was born Nov. 28, 1932 in Athol, a daughter of Milton and Emma (Nylander) Kennedy, and has lived in Athol all of her life, graduating from Athol High School in 1950.
Dot was an avid golfer, being a long - time member of the Ellinwood Country Club where she was club champion for many years, served as president of the Ladies Association, the Ellinwood Bowling League, and was on the Mass State Golf Team representing the Ellinwood. She and her husband spent golf vacations on the east coast traveling from New England to N.H.; a daughter, Lynne D. Wallace of Northampton; two brothers, Russell Kennedy of Athol and Richard Kennedy of Hamden, Conn.; a sister, Barbara Woodcock of Greenfield; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 24, at 5:00 p.m. at Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the N.H., Daniel Gebo and wife, Lorraine of Rindge, N.H., following an illness.
Sarah M. Cunniff
Athol High Graduate
ATHOL - Sarah M. (Shaw)"Queenie" Cunniff, 95, of 8 Glen Terrace, Shrewsbury and 37 Highland Ave., Hampton Beach, Florida.
Mrs. Cunniff was predeceased by her husband, James F. Cunniff; three brothers, Alexander Shaw Jr., Francis J. (Huck) Shaw; James F. Shaw and a sister, Anne C. Coolidge. She is survived by 13 nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cunniff was born in Manchester, England in 1908, daughter of the late Alexander and Mary F. (Bowe) Shaw and came to the United States in 1910. She lived in Athol, graduating from Athol High School, and later lived in Mansfield and Shrewsbury, where she settled in 1940. She graduated from Athol High School in 1927.
During her working years, she was a bank teller for several area banks, including the former Guaranty Bank. She spent her winters in Shrewsbury, where she was a member of St. Mary’s Church and its Jet Set Club for seniors. She was also active with the Shrewsbury Senior Center.
Her summers were spent at Hampton Beach, Massachusetts to enjoy a day on the beach.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 19, from the Britton - Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main St. Shrewsbury.
Burial will take place in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 18, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. in the funeral home.
