ATHOL - Irene L. (Lamothe) Rochon Wright, 90, of 821 Daniel Shays Hwy. in Athol, formerly of Springfield, died Monday evening, March 15, 2004, in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare of Athol where she had been a resident for four years.
She was born in Holyoke, on Oct. 20, 1913, daughter of the late Frederick and Albina (Florence) Lamothe. The family moved to Springfield where she attended public elementary schools and the High School of Commerce, graduating in 1950.
She married Ernest Rochon in 1934.
An avid knitter, she taught for the Red Cross during World War II and later taught knitting at adult education classes. She and Ernest were active in square dancing clubs for 20 years, until his passing away in 1979.
In 1984 she married Robert Wright of Springfield. He died in 1995. Mrs. Wright is survived by her son, Rolland F. Rochon and his wife Helen of Winchendon; her granddaughter, Deborah Knott and her husband William M. Knott and their sons Evan and Braden of Laurel, MD; three grandsons, Paul F. Rochon and his wife Barbara and girls Kori and Jill of Wrentham; Glenn D. Rochon of Leominster and Daniel F. Rochon of Seattle, WA. Her older sister, Lillian Cellilli of Springfield, died this past January.
It being her request, the funeral service is private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

PETERSHAM - Jeanne Shannon - Daley, 76, of Pawtuxet Village, R.I., formerly of North Main Street, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, in Providence, R.I.
She was born in South Boston, on Dec. 16, 1927, a daughter of Timothy and Catherine (Shannon) Daley. She grew up in Athol, graduated from Athol High School in 1945, and from the University of N.H. school district and Narragansett School district in Templeton. She was an avid reader, encouraging all of her children in reading, a world traveler, storyteller, bird watcher, skier, swimmer, camper, outdoors person and an avid blueberry picker.
She leaves two sons, Timothy Cookman of Morin Heights, Quebec and Christopher Cookman of Makawao, HI; three daughters, Karen Cookman of Providence, RI, Janne Cookman of Boulder, CO, and Cecily Cookman Westervelt of Narragansett, RI; a brother, James Daley of Westfield, MA; a sister, Elizabeth Paulin of Berwick, ME; five grandchildren, Nicholas and Jonah Chinman, both of Boulder, CO, Daniel Rockwood of Chicago, IL, Zachary Rockwood of Providence, RI, and Devon Cookman of Morin Heights, Quebec.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, March 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 18 North Main St.
Calling hours will be Thursday, March 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a time for sharing memories about Jeanne at 7 p.m., at Higgins - O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol.
Private burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Winchendon at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Athol Public Library, 568 Main St., Athol, MA 01331 or the Petersham Memorial Library, the Square, Petersham, MA 01366.

FLORIDA - Mrs. Laura A. Bergantino, 69, of Willoughby Hills, passed away in Ohio. She was a retired secretary for the Cleveland Heights - University Heights Public School District. She was a member of St. Noel’s Roman Catholic Church.
Mrs. Bergantino is survived by her husband, Robert E. Bergantino; sons, Robert A. Bergantino of New Salem, Mass., David C. Bergantino of Dundee, Scotland, Craig S. Bergantino of Willoughby Hills and Joel A. Bergantino of Cincinnati; and seven grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, at St. Noel’s Roman Catholic Church, 35200 Chardon Rd., Willoughby Hills. Dorothy G. Kakitis

ATHOL - Dorothy G. (Gagas) Kakitis, 97, formerly of 507 South Royalston Rd., died early Saturday morning, March 13, 2004 in the Baldwinville Nursing Home in Baldwinville after a long illness.
She was born in Chios, Greece, on March 9, 1907, daughter of the late Athanasious and Filia (Psichoulis) Gagas and lived in Athol most of her life.
Her husband, Harry Kakitis, died in 1965. Mrs. Kakitis was employed with the former Ansin and J.F. McElwan shoe factories in Athol for many years prior to her retirement in 1972. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Fitchburg and enjoyed her home, cooking, gardening and making afghans.
She is survived by two sons, John H. Kakitis of Athol and Leon “Nick” H. and his wife Sally (Day) Kakitis of Gorham, Massachusetts Turnpike, and the Athol Co - operative Bank.
He was a long - time member of the Franco American Club, a 51 - year member of the Elks, a 45 - year member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association of Massachusetts Legislators Assoc. and Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great - grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews survive him.
Services will be held at a later date in Athol.

ORANGE - Marian (Lee) Moore, 86, of 148 Walnut Hill Rd., died Friday, March 12, 2004, in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol.
Born in Orange, Feb. 1, 1919, a daughter of John R.and Ethel L. (Fellows) Lee, she lived in this area all her life. A member of Orange United Methodist Church, she had been a volunteer for the Franklin County United Way, American Red Cross and American Cancer Society during their local fund raising drives.
She was a member of Auxillary of American Legion Post 172 and its Drum Corps Wives, a former Brownie Leader and member of the Athenaeum Club. Active in the Orange Woman's Garden Club for many years, she also served as Chairman and Registrar of the Red Cross Bloodmobile sponsored by the Woman's Club.
She was an avid golfer, longtime member of Ellinwood Country Club, Athol and she enjoyed traveling, flower gardening and needlepoint.
Her husband of 48 years, Roger W. Moore, died in 1994. She leaves a sister, Arlene Doyle of Framingham; a nephew, Paul Doyle of Ashland; four nieces, Suzanne Bean of Fitzwilliam, N.H., Patricia Beynon of Framingham, Marianne Egezeino of Hollywood, Fla. and Roseanne Lee of Tularosa, N.M.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 16 at 1 p.m. in South Cemetery. The Rev. Julia Daley, Pastor of Orange United Methodist Church, will officiate.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to a charity of one's choice.
