GARDNER - Daniel F. “Cocoa” Arsenault, 53, of 77 Emerald St., died umexectedly Saturday, March 6, 2004 in Heywood Hospital.
He was United States Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.
Muriel E. Wagner

ATHOL - Muriel E. (Frost) Beers Wagner, 84, of Treasure Island, Fla., died Monday, March 1, 2004 at her home.
She was born in Athol on March 2, 1919, the second daughter of Jed and Maude (Wright) Frost. She was a graduate of Athol High School, Class of 1936. She married Raymond P. Beers on July 24, 1937. Most of their married life was spent in Westminster, until they relocated to St. Petersburg, Fla., in 1978. Ray predeceased her on June 17, 1982.
Muriel was manager for Craine Travel, Inc. of Fitchburg from 1965 - 1972. She later was co - owner with Ray of Westminster Travel, Inc., with branch offices in Athol and St. Petersburg. Tauck Tours, Inc. honored Muriel in 1975 for being the highest travel producer in New England. She also arranged tours of England for the students at Narragansett Regional and Murdoch High Schools.
Muriel enjoyed reading, gardening and travel and was an avid antique collector. During her years in Westminster she was actively involved with the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, PTA, the Westminster Bicentennial Committee and many other community events. Muriel was a long time member of the First Congregational Church and its choir and also served on the board of trustees.
She was a member of the National Travel Agents Association, the International Travel Agents Association, Order of the Eastern Star and the Florida, she was an active member of the Pasadena Community Church and a past president of the Garden Club of St. Petersburg.
Survivors include a brother, Wayne C. Frost and his wife Diane of Athol; a daughter, Marcia Edmonds of Montague; a son, Mark Beers and his wife Nancy of Moorpark, Florida arrangements.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Westminster.

Bernard J. Hause

ATHOL - Bernard J. Hause, 91, of 677 Court St., Keene, and formerly of Athol, died Friday, March 5, 2004 at the Cheshire Medical Center following a period of failing health.
He was born in Athol, on May 23, 1912, the son of Leon and Clarisse (Deyo) Hause, and resided in Worcester prior to moving to Keene in 1983.
He was the manager and coowner of Dawn Dairy, in the Athol area, a dairy products business that sold milk to retail stores.
He graduated from the Athol High School and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp. He served during World War II and held the rank of sergeant in the 1108th Base Unit of the 61st Carrier Group. During his tour of duty, he had served in Sicily, Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arno, Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland.
He retired from the Wyman - Gordon Company as an inspector, where he had been employed for 25 years.
Survivors include one son, Larry A. Hause of Keene; two sisters, Jeanne Rowe of Lighthouse Point, Fla., and Clarisse Sinclair of Athol; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at the Fletcher Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, on Wednesday, March, 10 at 7 p.m. Friends are invited. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the start of the funeral.
Burial will take place at the family lot in the Oak Hill Cemetery in West Swanzey later in the spring.
William A. Wessell

ORANGE - William A. Wessell, 85, of 5 Clark Ave., died Saturday, March 6, 2004 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol.
Born in Orange, Dec. 9, 1918, a son of Granville and Maude (Parmenter) Wessell, he grew up here, attended Central School and graduated from Orange High School in 1937.
He served with the United States Army Air Corp Reserves during World War Two. He worked in the shipping department of the Rodney Maine; two sisters, Elizabeth "Honey" Lawrence of Orange and Esther Mallette of Athol; three grandchildren, Gary Wessell of Las Vegas, Nev., Erza Bowers and Jon Bowers both of Wendell; one great grandson, Robert Wessell of Rosamond; Woods and formerly of Leverett, who died on Tuesday, March 1, 2004 at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, N.H. on Jan. 8, 1920, daughter of the late Howard and Lizzie (Thurston) Wiggin and lived here many years.
She attended Stratham schools, The Robinson Female Seminary in Exeter and the Concord College of Business. For many years prior to her retirement, Ruth was employed with the L.S. Starrett Co. of Athol.
She was an active member of the Daughters of Isabella and enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming and other outdoor activities.
She leaves her husband of 62 years, Joseph A. Gawronsky; one son, John A. Gawronsky of Athol and one sister, Alice Timmins of Derry, Maine - Robert Edward Lovett, 81, of Searsport, formerly of Ludlow, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at the Belfast Hospital.
A veteran of World War II he served as a pilot in the Army Air Force from 1943 - 1945.
James E. Hebert

GILBERTVILLE - James E. Hebert, 81, of Main St., and formerly of Athol and Orange, died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at the Athol Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Avis (Lawson) Hebert, who passed away in November.
He leaves two sons Gary Hebert of Keene, Texas and Susan Dennis of Wheelwright; one brother Peter Hebert of Athol; three sisters Eleanor Lawson and Marian Caldwell both of Athol, and Elaine Girouard of Newport Richey, Fla.; ten grandchildren and five great - grandchildren.
He was born in Athol, son of Thomas and Marjorie (Best) Hebert. He moved to Gilbertville in 1972. He was a graduate of Athol High School.
A United States Army Veteran of WWII, he was awarded a Purple Heart and took part in the Normandy Invasion.
An avid patriot, he was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Posts in both Gilbertville and Orange. He was the past - commander of the VFW Posts in both locations.
He was a retired mason at UMass - Amherst, last working in 1987.
He was an avid geologist, gardener and historian.
He was a member of the Pilgrim Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 8, at the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St. Ware, at 6 p.m. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 6 p.m.
