ORANGE - Edmund W. Soucie, 68, of 15 Oaklawn Ave., died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol after a long illness.
He was born in Athol, on Feb. 26, 1935, son of the late Roland and Rita (Moore) Soucie and lived most of his life in New York. He enjoyed motorcycles, telling jokes, playing baseball and watching baseball games - especially the Mets and enjoyed watching wrestling.
He is survived by one son, Edmund A. Soucie of Long Island, NY and three daughters, Laurie F. Lawton, with whom he lived, Lisa M. Horacz of Westfield and Lenore G. Mundel also of Orange, his former wife, Lorraine (Newton) Soucie, 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Visiting Hours are 6 - 8 p.m. Friday in J. Edward Murphy funeral Home, Athol.
No funeral service is planned.

Browning Services
WENDELL - Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2004 at the North New Salem Congregational Church for Sheila L. (Ferguson) Browning, 44, of 89 Jennison Rd., who died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 in Lunenburg at the home of her parents following an illness. The Rev. Edward T. Boren officiated. Janet Boren was the organist.
The pallbearers were Mark Browning, Jesse Browning, Bruce Browning, William Ferguson III, David Litwak, and James Sawin.
Interment will be later this spring in the North Cemetery, Lunenburg. A reception followed in the church's Fellowship Hall.

Wayne O. Brooks

ORANGE - Wayne O. Brooks, 98, formerly of 383 East River St., died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, in the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center.
Born in Erving, on Oct. 5, 1905, a son of Walter L. and Goldie L. (Cobb) Brooks, he grew up in Erving and lived there until moving to Orange in 1987. He attended Erving Schools and Orange High School.
A maintenance foreman at the time of his retirement in 1971, he had worked at the Rodney Massachusetts Electric Company for 23 years retiring in 1984. He was a communicant of the Our Lady Immaculate Church and a member of the Edward H. Phillips American Legion Post No. 102. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Leona M. (DeGrace) Ziguloski; a daughter, Jane A. Rice and her husband Craig of Athol; a son, Joseph M. Ziguloski and his wife Jamie of Athol; a sister, Ann Eggler of Athol; and a grandson, Daniel M. Ziguloski of Athol. He was predeceased by his sister, Nellie Hunter, and a step sister, Mary Besseck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. at the Our Lady Immaculate Church.
Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in his memory to the Washington, D.C. as a communications officer.
She was released to inactive duty in 1946 as a Lieutenant, j.g. That fall she commenced postgraduate studies at Harvard University earning her Master of Science degree in biology with a minor in botany. During these studies she interned at the Harvard School of Forestry, becoming acquainted with the Petersham and Athol areas. In 1948 she commenced teaching botany at Simmons College in Boston.
On Dec. 27, 1947 in the famous blizzard, she was married to John L. Poor. After teaching for two years she left Simmons College and became a typical navy officer's wife moving about the U.S. and overseas until her husband's retirement in 1972, and since 1973 had resided in Royalston.
Patricia had many interests and talents, mostly related to old houses and antiques including: stenciling, quilting, rug hooking and braiding, restoration of early chinaware and pottery and collecting early to Victorian period antiques. She restored, decorated and furnished her home with the 1840’s period in mind. She very much enjoyed her cats and dogs, bird watching, gardening and houseplants. She was a lifetime baseball fan, suffering with the Red Sox from 1970 until the present.
For many years she was both curator of the museum and secretary for the Royalston Village Improvement Historical Society being a member since 1973. Also belonged to the Royalston Ladies Benevolent Society, serving two terms as president as well as other offices. She served also for several years on the board of directors of the Athol Memorial Hospital Home Health and Hospice until its closing. A past president of the Fitzwilliam Garden Club, she also devoted many hours to the Navy Relief and hospital volunteer work, notably at Framingham Union Hospital.
She leaves her husband of 56 years, John L. Poor, retired U.S. Navy Commander; two sons, Mark W. Poor and his wife Annie Bissinger of Nantucket and Terrance J. Poor and his wife Birdie of Ventura, CA; a daughter, Stephanie C. McClure and her husband John of Royalston; her only grandchild, Sarah W. Poor of Nantucket.
Private graveside services will be held at Lawrence Brook Cemetery in Royalston in the spring.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers it is requested that Patricia be remembered by donating to the Athol Memorial Hospital, 2033 Main St., Athol, MA 01331 or the Phinehas S. Newton Library, the Common, Royalston, MA 01368, both of which she deemed invaluable community assets.

Pearl Fay, 100, Formerly Of Orange
ORANGE - Pearl M. (Harris) Fay, 100, of 179 Hance Rd., Fair Haven, N.J., formerly of Orange, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 in her home.
Born in Gorham, N.Y. for over 20 years until moving to East Northport, Long Island.
While in East Northport, she was a member of the Union Methodist Church, was active in the churchwomen's organization and taught Sunday School. She worked as a secretary at the Discount Corporation of New York for 10 years.
In 1966 the couple moved to Fair Haven, N.J. where she became a member of First Presbyterian Church in Red Bank, N.J. A loving wife and mother, she devoted her time and energy to her family and home. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook.
Her husband of 63 years, Lawrence A. Fay, died in 1992.
She leaves her daughter, Beverly Wrede and son in law, Emil of Lincroft, N.J.; a sister, Bertha Jochim of Erving; three grandchildren, David Wrede and wife, Allison of Lincroft, N.J., Christy Wrede of Eatontown, N.J. and Amy Wrede of Lincroft, N.J.; a great grandson, Andrew Wrede of Lincroft, N.J.; many nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Witty's Funeral Home. Her nephew, The Rev. Mark W. Harris of First Parish of Watertown Unitarian Universalist, will officiate.
Burial will follow in South Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.

ORANGE - Graveside services for Irene A. (Young) Teague, 91, of 357 Warwick Rd., were held Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at the Tully Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. R. Lee Smith, pastor of Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating. The bearers were; Jason Teague, Joseph Teague, Seth Teague, Jonathan Copeta, Timothy Roberts and Chris Rushford.
