Born in Dublin, Ireland on Sept. 15, 1929, he was the son of Frank and Mary (O’Callaghan) Mangan and arrived in the United States 31 years ago.
He was a computer assembler employed by Stratus Corp. of Hudson for eight years, retiring in 1994. He graduated from Westland Rowe High School in Dublin and was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Fitchburg.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, and he enjoyed music and working around the house.
He leaves his wife of 11 years, Louise J. (Beville) Mangan of Fitchburg; two sons, Tony Mangan, Brian Mangan and his wife Nora all of Dublin; one daughter, Ann Salmon and husband John of Dublin; three stepsons, John P. Page and wife Betty of Dayton, Gardner is in charge of arrangements.

NEW SALEM - Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 in Witty's Funeral Home, Orange, for Verna R. (MacKnight) Sweet, 91, of 9 Fay Rd., who died on Friday, July 16, 2004 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol following an illness. The Rev. Vance E. Frank officiated.
Interment followed in South Cemetery, Orange. The pallbearers were Wilfred Brailey, Beau Brailey, Daryl Brailey, and Mark Richards.
Witty's Funeral Home of Orange directed the arrangements.

ROYALSTON - Dorothy E. Hayden, 56, of 187 Athol Richmond Rd., died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at home.

ATHOL - Funeral services for Dale Allen Tatro, 53, of 88 Goddard St., were held Monday, July 19, 2004, in the Fiske Funeral Home. Pastor Curtis Phelps of the Higher Ground Ministries officiated. Following cremation a graveside committal service will be held Friday, July 23, at 10 a.m. in SilverLake Cemetery.

ATHOL - Patricia A. (Palady) Detroyer, 67, of 416 Main St., died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.
She was born on Jan. 9, 1937 in Woonsocket, R.I. and graduated from Woonsocket High School. She later moved to Michigan she worked for the Yamoto International Corperation until her retirement. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching people.
She leaves two nieces, Joyce Christenson of Phillipston and Lisanne Bunko of Munro, Mich.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
The Higgins - O’Connor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ATHOL - Graveside services were held on Saturday, July 17th in Tully Cemetery, Orange, for David W. Boyer, 41, of 368 Harvard Ave., who died May 14, 2004. The Rev. Vance E. Frank officiated.

ATHOL - Dale Allen Tatro, 53 of 88 Goddard St., Athol, MA, died Friday, July 16, 2004, in the UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, Worcester, MA. He was born in Montgomery, VT, on August 4, 1950, the son of Arlene (Robtoy) and Merton Tatro, Sr. He graduated from Athol High School in 1969 and was a life - long resident of Athol.
Mr. Tatro was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army.
Mr. Tatro was employed by Harrington and Richardson in Connecticut and later the Bronx, NC, Theresa Manning of Indianapolis, IN, Christine Richards, Katherine D‚Orto and Lorraine Brailey all of Athol; thirteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth MacKnight of Orange and Richard MacKnight of Ervine, CA.; two sisters, Erma Spencer and Shirley Bundy both of Orange; many nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Leon MacKnight, Paul MacKnight, Robert MacKnight, Edwin MacKnight and a sister, Grais Mullen.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 20th at 11 a.m. in Witty‚s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange. The Rev. Vance E. Frank will officiate. Burial will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.

ATHOL - Funeral services for Xavier K. W. "Pooh Bear" Reynolds, 3, of 183 Lake St., were held Thursday evening, July 15, 2004 at the Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home, with Captain Sharon Whispell of the Athol Corps of Salvation Army officiating. Special music was done by Ethan Stone at the keyboard, and Jennifer Robichaud was the soloist.
