Vernon E. Vaughn
World War II Veteran
ATHOL - Vernon E. Vaughn, 80, of 2017 South Athol Rd., died Sunday evening, June 6, 2004, at Athol Memorial Hospital following an illness.
Born in the former Quabbin town of Dana on Sept. 2, 1923, he was a son of G. Clayton and Doris (Carter) Vaughn. He was a member of the last class in the Dana School. He later moved to Barre before coming to Athol.
During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 until being honorably discharged in 1946. He attained the rank of Corporal and served in Alaska repairing airplanes with the Russians.
Following the war, he returned to Athol and built his home on South Athol Road in 1948 and had lived there over 50 years.
He was married to Shirley (Richards) on Aug. 1, 1953 in St. Mary's Church in Orange and they had celebrated their 50th anniversary last summer.
An employee of the former Union Twist Drill of Athol for five years, he later went to work for the Rodney N.H. following an illness. The Rev. Mary Jacobs will officiate.

Allan D. Pecoy

ORANGE - Allan D. “Dave” Pecoy, 65, of 383 East River St., died Friday, June 4, 2004 at his home.
He was born in Orange on Jan. 18, 1939, the son of Joseph and Minnie (Price) Pecoy. He had lived in Orange all of his life and attended Orange schools.
He had worked for Plotkin Furniture and Boston Filter Company, both in Athol and had worked a variety of other jobs during his lifetime. He was a members of Carbs Club for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working at his computer, reading, listening to music, kite flying at the Orange Airport and walking the beaches at Hampton Beach, N. H. and Old Orchard Beach in Maine; two grandchildren, Aleise and Jocelin Pecoy, both of Winslow; and many neices and nephews.
At Dave’s request no funeral services are planned. Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol is in charge of arrangements.
Beatrice J. Larocque
Was Textile Worker
ORANGE - Beatrice J. (Jolin) Larocque, 95, of 49 Warwick Rd., died Friday evening, June 4, 1004, at Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, following an illness.
Born in New Bedford on Jan. 27, 1909, she was a daughter of Pierre and Exilia (Bilodeau) Jolin.
Before retiring, she had worked at several textile mills in the Lawrence area.
She was married to Leo P. Larocque and they came to Orange in 1970. He died on Oct. 30, 1983.
A member of St. Mary's Church, she also belonged to St. Mary's Women's Club and the Orange Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include her son, Paul Larocque and his wife Marcia of Orange; grandchildren, Paul Larocque, Susan Morse, Catherine Larocque, Michael Thomas, Linda Smith, Bruce Thomas, Dennis Thomas, Gail Thomas, Mary Jo Brown, and Jerry Thomas; 10 great - grandchildren; and seven great - grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 8, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 19 Congress St. Interment will follow in South Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Mary's Church, 19 Congress St., Orange, MA 01364, or Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Activities Fund, 821 Daniel shays Hwy., Athol, MA 01331.

Freeman G. Teague

ORANGE - Freeman G. Teague, 43, of 343 Tully Rd., died early Sunday morning, June 6, 2004, at home surrounded by family after a battle against cancer.
Born in Athol on Oct. 22, 1960, he was a son of Alan and Carole (Shumway) Teague and lived in this area all his life.
He had enjoyed 18 years of marriage to Deborah L. (Watson).
Before getting ill, he worked at the Athol Table Company and had previously worked for the Cambium Corp. in Athol and Beaman Lumber of Winchester, Texas; Erin Bass of Greenfield; and Krystle Teague of Orange; a granddaughter, Mykela Teague; a grandson, Alexander Zamudio; his sisters, Lisa Wheeler and her husband Thomas of Orange; Marcie Baker and her husband Corey of Royalston; Jessica Johnson of Brockton; Sara Butterfield and Lori Teague, both of Flint, Mich.; and Trudy Lee of Lynnwood, Mich.; his stepfather Steve Johnson; and his stepmother Melody Teague of Burton,Mich.; and several nephews and nieces. A sister, Heather Petrowsky, predeceased him.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 9, at 2 p.m. in the Tully Cemetery with Dr. Daniel Ervin officiating.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 8, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South main St.

Myron A. Eastwood

ORANGE - Myron A. "Pete" Eastwood, 86, of Redbrook Village, died on Saturday, June 5, 2004, at home after being stricken ill earlier.
Born in Portland, Ore., on Jan. 14, 1918, he was a son of Myron W. and Eva (Flint) Eastwood.
He came to Massachusetts at an early age and had lived in Plymouth and Lawrence before moving to Metheun where he lived for 25 years. He later went on to live in North Andover for nine years before moving to Orange in 1986.
His first wife, Elsie (Kershaw) died in 1981 and his second wife, Alexandra G. (Hatem)(Derany) died in 1997.
An employee of the General Tire Company, he had worked the production line for over 20 years before retiring in 1981. He had previously worked on farms on the North Shore for many years.
Since his retirement, he enjoyed going to auctions and gardening, as well as buying and selling goods at tag sales and flea markets.
Survivors include his stepdaughters, Kathy Schiappa or Orange and Virginia Robinson of West Palm beach, Fla.; a stepson, George Kershaw of Danvers; and several grandchildren.
A sister, Helen Eastwood, predeceased him.
At his request, services will be private. Interment will be in Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover.
