ORANGE - Suzanne Forster Stewart, 75, died Monday, May 24, 2004, surrounded by friends and family in her home on Forster Farm.
She was born on the Forster Farm in Orange, on March 19, 1929, and was the second child and oldest daughter of Clifford John Forster and Katherine Louise Foster Forster.
She attended Orange High School and graduated in 1947. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary school teaching from Fitchburg State College in 1951.
Suzanne met Alan Perkins Stewart at a Fitchburg Valentine's Day dance. They were married on Feb. 24, 1951, and had four children: Bonnie Louise Stewart, Cynthia Sue Stewart, Darlene Stewart, and Robert Douglas Stewart, and later extended their family to include Lorraine Martin McNulty.
Suzanne taught at the Monroe Elementary school in 1955 and substitute taught for the Dalton School District from 1968 - 1981.
During the summers, she worked in the craft shop at Sandy Island YMCA Family Camp over 30 years, commuting from their summer haven, Little Two Mile Island on Lake Winnipesaukee in Gardner after a period of failing health.
She was born in Winchendon on May 18, 1917, daughter of the late Pierre and Delphine (Bois) Desmarais, and lived there until moving to Baldwinville in 1986.
Her husband, Rudolph A. Thibaudeau died in 1988.
Mrs. Thibaudeau was head housekeeper at the Winchendon School for nine years prior to her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Vincent dePaul Church in Baldwinville.
She is survived by two sons, Richard P. Thibaudeau of Ashburnham, and Rudy J. Thibaudeau of Hunt Company, Orange.
At his farm on Prescott Road, he raised Registered Black Angus Cattle for many years and especially enjoyed the outdoors. He was always working in the woods, sawing, splitting and selling cordwood until he was 81 years old.
A member of the New Salem Volunteer Fire Dept. many years, he and his wife had restored bought and sold antiques at a shop they operated on Daniel Shays Highway.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed being with his family.
His wife of 48 years, Doris E. (Keach) Cornwell, died in 1997.
He leaves a daughter, Debra J. Lyman and her husband, Walter, of New Salem; two grandchildren, Nikki L. Lyman and Ryan L. Lyman, both of New Salem; two great grandchildren, Kelsie D. Lyman - Meade of New Salem and Dakota Lyman of Athol; two sisters, Lillian Gardner of Orange and Mary Podgorni of Lowell; several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Durward Cornwell and Earl Cornwell, and a sister, Evelyn Farnello.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 25 at 10 a.m. in Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange.
Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
