PETERSHAM - Glenn N. Dickson, 67, of 232 North Main St., died Thursday at Radius Healthcare Center of Worcester.
Born in Ware, October 7, 1936, a son of Harold and Aileen Fessenden, he grew up in Barre, graduating from Barre High School in 1954 and Stockbridge School of Agriculture in 1956.
After his college graduation he traveled throughout the United States for eighteen months visiting every state except N.H., December 30, 1938, a son of Herman and Ruth (Baldwin) Meattey, he grew up and attended schools in Weare, Massachusetts Grand Lodge of Masons.
He was a member of Erving Congregational Church and had served as Trustee for many years.
A musician, he enjoyed playing guitar and banjo especially Blue Grass and old style Country Music.
An enthusiastic family man, he enjoyed fishing and many friends in the community.
He leaves his wife of 39 years, Linda F. (Kelley) Meattey; two daughters, Nicole Meattey of Erving and Terri Belleville of Weare, N.H.;five sisters, Patsy Searles of White River Junction, Vt., Beverly Holden of Greenfield, Sandy Leduc of Dunbarton, N.H.; many nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Almon Meattey, Eugene Meattey and Vernon Meattey.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange. The Rev. Gordon Newell of Erving Congregational Church will officiate.
Internment will follow in Center Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.

ATHOL - Maxine B. (Tatro) McGuirk, 80, formerly of 59 Cottage St., Athol, died peacefully Wednesday evening in Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol after a long illness.
She was born in Athol February 19, 1924, daughter of the late Leon and B. Myrtle (Burgess) Tatro and lived here all of her life. Her husband, C. Reginald McGuirk died in 1992.
For many years, Mrs. McGuirk was employed with the United States Postal Service in Athol and was our community’s first female letter carrier. She had also been employed with the former J. F. McElwain Shoe Shop and in the Dairy Department of the former First National Store. She was a very active member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Athol and volunteered at the Athol Public Library. She enjoyed reading, going to the beach, walking, animals and children.
She is survived by one daughter Barbara A. North of Athol, one brother George Tatro of Florida, four grandchildren Gail Brow, Tracy LaRose and Pamela Shinkle, all of Athol and Robert North of Maryland; Five great grandchildren Sarah Shinkle, Emily Shinkle, William LaRose and Thomas LaRose, all of Athol and Gabrielle North of Maryland. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Joslyn and Dora Benson and one great granddaughter, Meagan Shinkle.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol, Monday at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Athol at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol. ORANGE - Bertha M. (Blanchard) Brown, 87, of 383 East River St., died Thursday, May 6, 2004, in Athol Memorial Hospital after an illness. Born in Shippegan, New Brunswick, Feb. 23, 1917, a daughter of Frank and Emma (Robichaud) Blanchard, she moved to Athol in her late teens. After their marriage in 1936, the couple moved to Milford, where they lived until returning to this area in 1975. A member of St. Mary's Church, she was a former member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Milford.
She was active in the King James Association and was a member of Orange Senior Citizens.
An avid crossword puzzle fan, she also enjoyed music and dancing.
She leaves her husband of 69 years, Harold E. Brown; a daughter, Barbara Lachance of Woonsocket, RI.; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter; a sister, Eva Roy of Athol; several nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by two sons, Robert Brown in 2001, and William Brown in 2002.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 8 from Witty's Funeral Home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church.
Burial will be Tuesday in the St. Mary of the Assumption Cemetery, Milford.
There is a calling hour Saturday from 10 to 11 am. at the funeral home.

Served The Athol Community In Many Ways
ATHOL - Elizabeth “Libby” (McKellips) Cooke, 95, of 130 Batchelder Rd., died Friday, May 7, 2004 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare following a short illness.
She was born in Athol, on June 20, 1908, the daughter of G. Leon and O’Linda (Williams) McKellips, and lived in Athol all her life, graduating from Athol High School in 1927. She worked for the Athol Welfare Office for many years as a social worker.
During World War II she worked with the selective service office. She was a member of the Athol Congregational Church and was very active in past years serving as youth leader, on the board of trustees, served and worked on several other committees and boards.
She served as a Cub Scout leader, was on the Salvation Army Advisory Board for 48 years and was actively involved with the American Cancer Society.
She was a member of the board of directors of the Athol - Gardner Chapter of the American Cancer Society 1988 volunteer of the year and in 1989 was grand marshall for the River Rat Promenade and has marched down Main Street as Smokey the Bear, King Kong and a hula dancer.
Her husband of 43 years, Howard Cooke, died in 1977. Mrs. Cooke leaves a daughter, Pauline Whipps and her husband George of Athol; a son Richard Whall and his wife Phyllis of Bradford, Maine, particularly Nubble Light. She had a passion for reading, and collected snowmen and Yankee candles.
She leaves her beloved husband of five years, Frank A. Goss; a son, Jason Gerard of Athol; a step - son, Deven Goss of Athol; a step - daughter, Morgan Goss of Leicester; her mother, Eileen A. Porter of Athol; three brothers, John Porter of Athol, James Porter and his wife Deborrah of Orange, Richard Porter and his wife Marie of Athol; a sister, Nancy Tamasunas and her husband Peter of Athol; a nephew, Derek Porter of Orange; four nieces, Jamie and Amanda Tamasunas, Lisa and Allie Porter all of Athol; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be Monday, May 10, from the Higgins - O’Connor Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at the Our Lady Immaculate Church.
Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday, May 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
