Jacqueline A. (Emery) "Jackie" Holden

ORANGE - Jacqueline A. (Emery) "Jackie" Holden, 83, of 383 East River St., died on Wednesday, April 28, 2004, in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, following an illness.
Born in Lebanon, N.H. after her marriage to Gordon M. Holden, later moving to Orange in 1954. Her husband died in 1969.
An employee of the Erving Paper Mills for 33 years, she retired in 1985.
In 2003, she received the N.H., Verna Greene of Seabrook, Gardner on Nov. 10, 1931, the son of the late Frank and Ella May (Smith) Boutwell.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 29 from the Smith - Mallahy - Masciarelli Funeral Home (www.masciarellifamilyfuneralhomes.net), 243 Water St., with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 240 Water St.
Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Pepperell.
Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 5 to 8 p.m., and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Ruth L. Whitney

ATHOL - Ruth L. (White) Whitney, 90, of 359 Twichell St. died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the Athol Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Orange, on Dec. 3, 1913, the daughter of Richard and Myrtie (Newton) White. She lived in Athol most of her life, graduating from Athol High School in 1931.
She had been an active member of the Athol Congregational Church for over 77 years, working on many committees and church functions. She sang in the church choir for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Athol Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, worked in the hospital gift shop, volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Bank and was past worthy advisor of the Rainbow Girls. She enjoyed quilting, bowling, and sending cards and notes to her many friends.
She and her husband O. Fayne Whitney celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary and Ruth’s 90th birthday with a party being held last December at the Petersham Curling Club with many family and friends attending.
Besides her husband she leaves a son, Mark F. Whitney of Dillon, CO; a grandson, Mark A. Whitney of Charlotte, N.H., and graduated from Hinsdale High School.
Following school, he served in the United States Army in Germany.
He was married to Linda (Vladyka) in 1993 and they enjoyed a beautiful, loving marriage of eleven years.
A hardworking man. He was a machinist at G. S. Precision in Brattleboro for 20 years.
An outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, he also enjoyed playing bingo with Linda and being an all around handy man.
Besides his beloved wife Linda, survivors include two sons, John Anderson and Kevin Anderson; a daughter, Marsha Gilson; step - daughters, Anita Wilson, and her husband Perry, of Jacksonville, Fla., Noelle Nebelski, and her husband Bill, of West Dover, Vt., and Maya Tacy of Orange; grandchildren, Philip Littlewood, Linda Wilson, Alan Aristia, Chris Aristia, and Kylie Tacy; a brother, Steven Gilson of Woodstock, Conn.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Fay Gilson Jr., and five sisters, Anna Pratt, Jean Harris, Georgia Sweeney, Verna LaClaire, and Evelyn Monette.
There are no services or calling hours and burial in South Cemetery, Orange, will be private. Friends and relatives are encouraged to visit Linda at 703 East Main St., to share the memories and stories.
