ATHOL - Funeral services for James E. Hause Sr., 64, of 12 Meadow St., were held Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Our Lady Immaculate Church.
The celebrant was Rev. Stephen D. Johnson, pastor. The organist was Theresa Gabis. Burial was in Highland Cemetery. -
Members of the Edward H. Phillips American Legion Post No. 102 provided military honors. They included Robert Carey, past commander; Victory Litcfield, past finance officer; Bucky LaRose, Jim Robideau, and George Terrien, members; and Glenn Frenette, post commander.
Mr. Carey presented the United States flag to Mrs. Jean Hause and Mr. Frenette played taps. - -

Judith C. Bloomquist
Formerly Of Orange
BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - Judith C. - (Fairman) Bloomquist, - 84, of Brooksville, beloved daughter of the late Roland and Myrtle (Cole) Frye, passed - away peacefully Monday, Sept. - 27, 2004, at Brooksville Regional Hospital.
She was born on Sept. 1, 1920 in Greenfield, Mass., and grew up in Orange, Mass. Prior to living in Brooksville, she resided in Orange and was also a South Windsor, Conn. resident for 19 years.
She received her RN at Stamford School of Nursing and worked in nursing for 20 years, many of which were at Manchester Memorial Hospital.
She enjoyed - crafts, quilting, volunteer work and her many activities at Cloverleaf.
She dearly loved her husband, "Bud," children, grandchildren, great - grandchildren, family and friends.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Earl Fairman (1991), two sons, Michael (1978) and William (1999). Her sister Jeanne Sever predeceased her in 1994.
She is survived by her husband LeRoy; two sons, Timothy Fairman of Orange and John Fairman of Bridgewater, Mass.; seven daughters, Martha and her husband Jim Benoit of Chicopee, Mass., Barbara and her husband Richard McLaren of Leominster, Mass., Susan and her husband Terrence Towle of Manchester, Conn., Ann Fairman of South Windsor, Christine and her husband Richard Olmstead of Ellington, Conn., Eileen Hamilton of Suffield, Conn., and Karen Picard of Enfield, Conn.; daughters - in - law Jane Reynolds of Athol, Mass., Sandra Dube of West Springfield, Mass.; 20 grandchildren, Jimmy, Ginger, Regina, Todd, Matt, Becky, Jeff, Brenda, Kim, Heather, Heidi, David, Greg, Timmy, Ricky, - Jacki, Jason, Jennifer, Amy and Kelly; and 16 great - grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at North New Salem Congregational Church, Elm Street, North New Salem, Mass., at 10 a.m. on Friday, - Oct. 8. Burial will follow at Holtshire Cemetery, Holtshire Road, Orange.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donor's choice in her memory.
David R. Welcome
Funeral services for David R. Welcome, 44, of 60 Castle Ave., who passed away Sept. 26, 2004, were held Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, in Fiske Funeral Home. Rev. Alex Ufema officiated. Burial was in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol.
The bearers were Jim McGrath, Dave Ralls, Michael Garcia, Matt Murray, Steven Hughes and Babe Foot.

Elbridge C. Bates
World War II Veteran
PETERSHAM - Elbridge ("Cap") C. Bates, of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and formerly of town, died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at his home.
He was born on Dec. 10, 1921 in Providence, R.I. to Elbridge B. and Gladys E. (Campbell) Bates. He grew up in Petersham and graduated from Petersham High School.
He was an Army Air Corps veterans of World War II serving as a fighter pilot and later, in the United States Air Force as an officer and programming planner. He received many medals for his military service including The Legion of Merit, Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, and The Bronze Star.
He moved to Bradford J. Bates; and a daughter, Bonita A. Bates.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Bates.
Bernadine McBride
ATHOL - Bernadine (Novak) McBride, 65, of 1 Park St., died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at home.
She was born in Wilkes Barre, Penn., on Nov. 23, 1938, a daughter of the late John A. and the late Albina C. (Slavitsko) Novak.
She leaves her husband of 47 years, John F. McBride; two daughters, Debra L. Meehan and her husband Timothy of Franklin, and Sharon A. Wright and her husband Michael of Lakewood, N.H., daughter of Adam and Ursula (Alekevich) Kersavage and was raised in Erving, Mass.
In 1929, Marcella married Ernest at St. Francis Church in Athol, Mass., moving in 1936 to live in Hartford and has resided in West Hartford since 1951.
Mrs. Lashenske had been an employee of the former G. Fox & Co., Hartford, and had retired from Travelers Insurance Co., Hartford.
She was a communicant of Saint Mark the Evangelist Church, West Hartford, was a member of the Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary of the Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, Court 1104 and was a member of the Travelers Insurance Co. Retirees Club.
Mrs. Lashenske is survived by two daughters and a son - in law, Teresa M. and John H. MacDonald of Manchester, and Rita M. Lashenske of West Hartford; seven grandchildren, Stephen MacDonald and his wife, Lori, Joanne Davila and her husband, Frankie, Lawrence MacDonald, Kenneth MacDonald and his wife, Martha, Elizabeth Collins and her husband, James, Marcella MacDonald and Theresa Holder and her husband, Nigel; 18 great - grandchildren and a great - great - granddaughter; four sisters, Catherine, Ursula, Mary and Francis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lashenske was predeceased by four brothers and a sister.
Calling hours will be Friday, Oct. 1, from 1 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. at the Sheehan - Hilborn - Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford.
The funeral will be Saturday, Oct. 2, with a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated at 9 a.m. at Saint Mark the Evangelist Church, 467 South Quaker Lane. Interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in Athol on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Donations in memory of Marcella may be made to Saint Mark the Evangelist Church, West Hartford.

ATHOL - Graveside services for Goldie P. (McPherson) Gillis, 98, of 821 Daniel Shays Hwy., were held Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Silver Lake Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. R. Lee Smith, pastor of Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating. A reception followed followed at Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church.
Goldie was also predeceased by a son, William Gillis, in 1971. Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home directed arrangements.

ATHOL - A graveside service for Inez Shook, 91 of 821 Daniel Shays Hwy., who died on Sept. 13, 2004, will be held on Thursday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. in South Cemetery, Orange.
