ATHOL - Donald A. DuPray, 65, of 19 Pine St., died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, in the Athol Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Gardner, on Sept. 6, 1939, the son of the late Donald and the late Florence (Parker) DuPray. He was eudcated in Athol schools.
Mr. DuPray was a shoe maker, employed by several local shoe manufacturers. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.
He leaves his wife of 43 years, Gerry (Willette) DuPray; three daughters, Lucinda Chaisson of Athol, Tammy Detwiler of Tacoma, Wash., and Peggy DuPray of Greenfield; one son, Donald A. DuPray, Jr. of Wendell; one sister, Patricia LaBarge of Winchendon; one brother, Jim Garner of Phillipston;17 grandchildren; four great - grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his brother, Henry DuPray. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. at Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St. Burial will be private at a later date.
A calling hour will be held Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church - Building Fund, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331.

ATHOL - Ruth E. (Allis) Goodyear, 83, formerly of Millers Falls, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare.
She was born on June 9, 1921, the daughter of Lucius and Florence (Bowman) Allis. She attended schools in Deerfield and was a graduate of Deerfield High School. She also graduated from Northampton Commercial College.
Mrs. Goodyear was a resident of Sunderland most of her life before moving to Millers Falls in 1968. She worked at Lunt's Silversmith in Greenfield from 1968 until l986 as an accounts receivable clerk.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Millers Falls.
She enjoyed painting and sewing.
Her husband, Harry R. Goodyear, died on Aug. 6, 2001. Among her survivors are two daughters, Jeanne R. Goodyear of Erving, and Joyce A. Wilson and her husband Bruce of Orange; two sisters, Ethel Kinner of Greenfield and Ester Howes of Lexington; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational church in Millers Falls. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in millers Falls.
Calling hours will be tonight, (Sept. 20), from 6 to 8 at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.

ORANGE - Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 23, at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., at 11 a.m. for Mary E. (Barrett) Gray, 64, of Panama City, Fla., and formerly of Orange, who died in N.H. - Hazel M. (MacDonald) Rahaim, 75, of 6 Butternut Dr., and formerly of Athol, Mass., died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home are incomplete.
Robichaud Services
ATHOL - Funeral services for Maurice E. Robichaud, 75, of 1023 South Main St., were held Thursday, Sept. 16, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Immaculate Church. The celebrant was Rev. Stephen D. Johnson, pastor. The organist and cantor was Theresa Gabis. Burial followed in Gethsemane Cemetery.
The bearers were William Frisch, Thomas R. Mailloux, Ronny R. Cote, Russell J. Cormier, Frank J. Pfeiffer and Dennis Cormier.
Members of the Edward H. Phillips American Legion Post No. 102 provided military honors. They included Vic Litchfield, Past Finance Officer; Bucky LaRose, member; Pete Krustapentus, Adjutant; George Terrien, member; Glenn Frenette, Commander; and Bob Carey, Past Commander.
Mr. Carey presented the United States flag to Mrs. Gloria Robichaud. Mr. Frenette played taps.

Vi Goodnow;
Legendary Coach
BUCKLAND - Vi Goodnow, 68, of East Buckland Road, legendary coach at Frontier Regional High School in Deerfield, died at home Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004 from cancer.
Goodnow, who dedicated her life to children, teaching and sports, earned a reputation for being both tough and loving during her 44 - year career of coaching.
Goodnow was unrivaled in the Pioneer Valley, winning 84 percent of her 1,500 varsity softball, basketball and field hockey games combined, with an 86 percent win - tie record. She coached a total of 97 athletic seasons.
Goodnow, whose players affectionately called her Miss G, hated more than anything to lose an athletic contest.
Friends and players said the former physical education teacher didn't use a computer. She kept all of her hand - written and typed statistics in filing cabinets.
Goodnow coached field hockey and basketball from 1958 to 2002 and softball from 1958 to 1971. During those years, her teams won numerous league and state championships. She was also a physical education instructor at Frontier for more than 40 years.
She was named “Coach of the year” by the National High School Coaches Association in 1980 and, today, the top female player in western Massachusetts receives the “Vi Goodnow Award.”
In 1988, Goodnow received the Dr. Catherine E. Comeau Award for outstanding leadership and professional achievement.
In June of 1998, the Frontier Regional School gymnasium was renamed the “Goodnow Gymnasium.”
She retired in 2002.
She was born in Buckland on March 26, 1936, a daughter of Merle and Hazel (Dyer) Goodnow. She was a 1954 graduate of the former Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls and a 1958 graduate of Bridgewater State Teachers college.
Besides her mother, of Buckland, survivors include: two sisters, Gladys H. Page of Liverpool, NY and Joyce H. Fuller of Mashpee, MA; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Shirley E. Goodnow, in 1992.
Friends and family will celebrate Goodnow's life on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m. in the Goodnow Gymnasium.
A private burial in East Buckland Cemetery will follow.
