PETERSHAM - Funeral services for James C.C. "Jamie" Tower, 22, of 4 East Street, who died on Sunday, May 18, 2003 in Hubbardston, were held Friday, May 23, 2003 at the Community Church of North Orange and Tully with the Rev. Lois Buchiane officiating. Rev. Andrea Hoslett of Bethany Lutheran Church in Orange read Psalm 121. Readings and rememberances were offered by both Jamie's parents, brother Chay, and several close friends. The prelude, "On Eagle's Wings," was sung by soloist Chuck Berube as well as"You'll Never Walk Alone." The organist was Violet Bidwell.
Interment will be private.
A reception followed the service in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

BOSTON - Jennifer L. Stowers, 23, of South Boston, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 21, 2003 in Boston.
She was born in Derry, New York; two brothers, Robert Barber, Francis Barber both of Greenfield; two half - brothers, Robert Felton and Richard Felton both of Greenfield; an aunt, Mary Biskerski of Greenfield; 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services with will be held Saturday, May 24, at 11 a.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Bariloni Pastor of the Athol - Orange Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held, Friday, May 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to the Barre Players Club - Joan C. Labonte Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 279, Barre, MA 01005.
Steven H. Temple
ORANGE - Graveside services for Steven H. Temple, 57, of 25 High St., who died Nov. 20, 2002, at home, will be Saturday, May 24 in Tully Cemetery. The Rev. Vance E. Frank will officiate.

Joan Labonte
ATHOL - Joan Catherine (Barber) Labonte, 64, of 51 Winters St., died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at home following an illness.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Fiske Funeral Home were incomplete at press time.
Barbara S. Bachelder
Long Time Resident
Barbara S. (Frost) Bachelder, 81, of East Village Place, East Longmeadow and formerly of Athol and Orange, widow of Clarence W. Bachelder, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 12, 2003 at the Baystate Medical Center, Springfield.
She was born on June 20, 1921 in Athol, the daughter of the late Jed and Maude (Wright) Frost. She had resided in the Athol and Orange area for 78 years and in East Longmeadow for the past three years.
Barbara was an avid bridge player and enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, painting and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed watching wild birds and loved her cats. Above all else, she adored her grandchildren and great - grandchildren.
Barbara was loved by her seven children and their families; Sharon Haney and husband, Richard, of York, Calif., Charles Bachelder of Gardner, Lane Bachelder of Laconia, Maine; 23 grandchildren and four great - grandchildren She also leaves two sisters, Muriel Wagner of Treasure Island, Fla., and Mildred Tweedy of Quincy; a brother, Wayne Frost of Athol and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Barbara will be held on Sunday, May 25 at the Starrett memorial Methodist Church in Athol at 1 p.m.

George B. Downer III Accident Victim
GREENFIELD - George B. Downer III, 16, of 178 Davis St., died Saturday following injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Phillipston.
Born in Greenfield, Dec. 6, 1981, son of George B. Downer Jr., and Pamela M. Burdick Downer, he was a ninth grade student at Greenfield High School. Prior to moving to Greenfield he attended Gardner public schools where he played junior high football and baseball.
He was an active groomer for many years in the area of harness racing, a skill taught him by his grandfather. He enjoyed skateboarding, playing basketball with friends, was an accomplished handyman and could perform carpentry and electrical wiring. He enjoyed rap music and was an avid angler in earlier years.
He was described by his family has having a 'heart of gold' as he was friends with and was loved by many people. He had worked at the McDonald's Restaurant in Greenfield and had done lawn care service, mowing and trimming for several families.
He was active in the local teen center and traveled throughout the United States with his grandfather, associated to harness racing interests they shared. He also enjoyed card playing and Nintendo and watching television.
Besides his father of Turners Falls and his mother Pamela M. Burdick of Athol, he leaves a sister, Lisa A. Burdick of Greenfield; two half - sisters, Aimee C. Downer and Elizabeth E. Downer of Turners Falls; a step - sister Marilyn 'Keri' Hoisington of Turners Falls; his grandparents, George B. and Jean Downer of Beverly and Allen and Janet L. Burdick of Gardner; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a nephew. A grandmother, Jacqueline Downer died in 1994.
A memorial service will be observed Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the McCarthy Funeral Home, 36 Bank Row, with Rev. Timothy J. Campoli, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church officiating.
Visiting hours will be from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a fund in his name at the Greenfield Cooperative Bank, 63 Federal St., Greenfield 01301, for a memorial tribute to be determined by his family.
