ATHOL - Daniel F. Giannini, 82, of 739 Daniel Shays Hwy., Athol, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004 in the Health Alliance Leominster Campus.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1922, the son of Raffaile and Rosa (Telloni) Giannini. He grew up in Fitchburg and graduated from Fitchburg High School.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy. He fought in the Pacific Theatres.
He was a regional sales manager for Prince Macaroni for many years. He retired from the City of Fitchburg in 1988 as a heavy equipment operator.
He was a former member of the Westminster Country Club and a member of the Marconi Club in Fitchburg. He was past president of the home owner's association of Riverbend Gardner and Anna “Jennie” Whitney of Templeton, a brother, Richard Bubnel of Gardner, and a close friend, Phil Dupuis. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip, who died in 1980. She was also predeceased by a son, Philip, a daughter, Maureen and a sister, Sophie Zisk, who died in 2003.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13, at the John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Church, 166 Cross St. The Rev. Thomas E. Mahoney, Pastor of St. Michael's the Archangels Church, Mendon, will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Mahoney's memory to the Gardner Board of Health, 95 Pleasant St., Gardner, MA 01440, or to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline Place, MA 02445, or may be left at the funeral home.

ATHOL - Antonia “Sylvia” (Navarro) Bauwens, 68, died Tuesday Nov. 9, 2004, in the HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster after an illness.
Her husband of 21 years, Raymond H. Bauwens, died in 1979. She leaves her son, Ray G. Bauwens and his wife, Michele M. Bauwens, of Worcester.
She was born on Sept. 14, 1936 in Ciudad Guzman, Jalisco, Mexico. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Guadalupe (Reyes) Navarro. After her marriage, she moved to Woonsocket, RI, and then to Athol where she spent the rest of her life.
In the early years of her marriage, Sylvia lived abroad in such countries as Korea and India with her son and husband, who was an engineer for General Electric. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, and caring for her plants and animals. Her friends and family will sorely miss her sense of humor.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13 in the Fiske Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Saturday, Nov. 13 from 9 to 10 a.m in the funeral home.

Sinkovich Services
ORANGE - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, for Stephanie C. (Stys) Sinkovich, 92, formerly of 460 South Main St., who died on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, following an illness.
The Rev. Fr. John Roach officiated assisted by Deacon Joseph Bucci. Theresa Bergquist was the Cantor and Janet Paoletti was the organist. The alter servers were Wilfred Richards and Madeline Kolodziej. The gifts were brought forward by nieces, Irene Rice and Dorothy Truckey. The Readings were offered by Chris Donelan.
Interment followed in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. The pallbearers were John Bergquist, Mike Truckey, Chris Donelan, Carl Holmgren, and Jim Kolodziej.
Witty's Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

ATHOL - Funeral services for Eileen A. (Battersby) Porter, 70, of 33 Oak Ave., who died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, were held Wednesday, Nov. 10, in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home. Nancy Lake officiated.
Burial followed in the Silver Lake Cemetery. The bearers were: Jason Gerard, David Farnsworth, Frank Goss, Joe Cummings, Bob Cummings and Joe Boudreau. J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home directed the arrangements.
John J. Down
ORANGE - John J. Down, 74, of 176 South Main St., died unexpectedly at Athol Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, after being stricken ill earlier at home.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Witty's Funeral Home.

ORANGE - Keith S. Woodcock, 53, of 18 East Myrtle St., died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 10, 2004, at the home of his mother, Nancy, at 63 Adams St., following a lengthy illness.
