Life - long Resident Of Athol
ATHOL - Christina M. (Taylor) Yonker, 89, formerly of Highland Ave., died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
She was born in Athol on June 25, 1915, the daughter of Alfred and Lovina (Lovering) Taylor and has lived in Athol all of her life. She graduated from Athol High School in 1933 and attended Fitchburg Business School.
She worked for the L. S. Starrett Company for over 30 years until her retirement and was a member of the Athol - Orange Baptist Church.
Her husband of many years, Henry Yonker, died in 1986. She leaves a brother, Bayard L. Taylor of West Yarmouth, and several nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. at Higgins - O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St. with the Rev. Mark D. Bariloni, pastor of the Athol - Orange Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in East Street Cemetery in Petersham and there will be a calling hour from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Ferron Services
ATHOL - A graveside service for Francis R. Ferron Sr., 83, of 210 Wendell Rd., New Salem, was held Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, in Silver Lake Cemetery. His daughters, Barbara R. Couillard and Nancy R. Ferron shared memories.
Members of the Edward H. Phillips American Legion Post No. 102 provided military honors they included Al Souza Past Worceter County Commander, Jim Robideau, member, George Terrien, member, Vic Litchfield, Past Finance Officer, Glenn Frenette, Post Commander, Bob Carey, Past Post Commander. Mr. Souza presented the United States Flag to Mr. Ferron's daughter Barbara R. Couillard. Mr. Frenette played taps.
The J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home directed arrangements.
N.H.; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Ruth (Oliver) Ferron who died in 2002, by a son, John Ferron who died in 1990, and by a son, Francis Ferron Jr. who died in 1967.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, at noon at Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Gardner after a long illness. Pastor Julia Daley officiated. Janet Haley was the organist. Harriet's son, Bruce, offered the eulogy.
A reception followed in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
Interment in Erving Center Cemetery was private.

Elizabeth Thompson
ATHOL - Elizabeth M. “Betty” Thompson, 62 of 208 Main St., died Tuesday, Oct. 12, in Athol Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Athol, on Jan. 19, 1942, the daughter of the late Beatrice (Gravel) Hoke.
She leaves one daughter, Donna McCoy of Rochester, N.Y.; one brother, Bernard Hoke of Mystic, Conn.; three grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Derek Brown, Kelly McCoy; her companion, Larry Jones of Athol.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St.
Burial will be private.
A calling hour will be held Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Helen Hymanson
Former Athol Teacher
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Helen (Nolan) Hymanson, 78, formerly of 260 Riverbend St., Athol, Mass., died Oct. 8, 2004, in the Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas.
She was formerly of 2346 Amana Dr., Henderson, Nev. 89044.
She had been a former teacher for 20 years in the Athol schools and a resident of Athol for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her husband, Nathan; a daughter, Gail Jones; a son, Philip Hymanson; a sister, Edith Draper; a brother, Thomas Nolan; and many nephews and nieces.
She was cremated in Las Vegas and the family plans a memorial service at a later date.
