Ann T. Whittle
Worcester - Ann T. (Celesius) Whittle, 90, of Worcester, died Sunday, Dec. 19, in Christopher House of Worcester.
She leaves a son, Robert E. Whittle of Worcester; a sister, Adele Novia of Worcester; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Christopher, and Robert T. Whittle, all of Worcester; nephews and nieces. A sister, Bernice Knight of Denver, CO, predeceased her. A niece, Carol Peterson of Shrewsbury, died recently. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Charles and Antoinette (Balcius) Celesius and lived here all her life. She graduated from Commerce High School.
Mrs. Whittle was a stitcher at Brown Shoe Company for several years before retiring. She also worked at C.T. Sherer Company at one time.
She was a member of St. Casimir Parish. She enjoyed Bingo and playing cards.
The funeral will be held Thursday, Dec. 23, from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence St. Burial will be private. A calling hour is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, in the funeral home.
Joseph J. Tauras
WORCESTER - Joseph J. Tauras, 89, of Dolly Dr., formerly of Millbury St., died Friday December 17 in Blaire House of Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Helen A. (Urevich) Tauras, a daughter, Marion M. Tauras of Worcester; a son, Joseph F. Tauras of Windham, NH; two sisters, Anne Gionet and Helen McDermott, both of Worcester; two grandsons, Nicholas and Matthew and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Charles Tauras, Alexander J. Tauras and Mary Rouleau. He was born in Worcester, son of Alexander and Mary (Alukas) Tauras and has lived here all his life.
Mr. Tauras was a wire coater in the annealing dept. of National Standard Co., for many years and retired in 1980. He was educated in Worcester schools.
He was a member of St. Catherine of Sweden Church, the Lithuanian Social Club and he enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday Dec. 22 from HENRY – DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 1 Wiser Ave. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday Dec. 22 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Stanley Blasko
WORCESTER - Stanley Blasko, 92, formerly of Cape Cod and most recently a resident of Clark Manor Nursing Home, died early Wednesday morning.
Mr. Blasko was born February 19, 1912 in Worcester a son of Martin and Malwina (Harasinowicz) Blasko. He was predeceased by his wife Blanche (Jendza) Blasko, who died in 1994. They were married on December 26, 1933.
Mr. Blasko had a long standing in Worcester civics. He was the founding member of the Polish National Independence Club from its inception. Mr. Blasko received a “Key to the City” from then Mayor James O’Brien for his involvement in the Worcester community. While in Worcester Mr. Blasko with his wife and daughter owned and operated three fruit and produce stores known as “Stanley’s Fruit Stores”. In 1964 he relocated to Cape Cod where he and his wife owned Blasko’s Guest House for close to 20 years. Upon retiring Mr. Blasko was involved in the founding of the Polish Society of Cape Cod and the Islands. He was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Hyannis and the Knights of Columbus and was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.
Mr. Blasko is survived by his only child, Florence Teresa (Blasko) Canny, wife of the late Michael P. Canny who died on Aug. 16, 2004. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Lisa Petersen of Denver, Co; Susan Towner of Amherst, NH; and Cristina Ethier of Londonderry, NH; four great-grandchildren and several nieces.
The funeral will be held on Monday Dec. 27 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Monday Dec. 27 from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
Valerie A. Ledger
HUBBARDSTON - Valerie A. (Lawrence) Ledger, 48, of 19 Abenaki St., died Sunday December 26 from injuries received in an automobile accident in Leominster.
She leaves two daughters, Sarah L. Ledger of Hubbardston and Jessica A. Ledger of Kalamazoo, Michigan; her father, Richard E. Lawrence of Crestview, Fl; one sister, Pamela Puchala of Millbury; three brothers, Richard Lawrence of Hubbardston; Robert Lawrence of Princeton and Randall Lawrence of Auburn; her maternal grandfather, Sammie Bonanno of Worcester a grandson, Caiden, her stepfather, Fred Simon of Sturbridge and aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. She was born and raised in Worcester, her mother, Sharlene R. (Fortin) Simon died May 5, 2004.
Ms. Ledger was a service representative 5 years for Verizon in Worcester and also worked many years at the Wigwam Restaurant in Worcester.
She was a graduate of South High School, Worcester and Fitchburg State College.
Valerie liked to travel and cook and enjoyed basketweaving. She loved being with her family, especially her grandson Caiden.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday January 2 at 5:30 p.m. in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, Worcester. Burial will be Tuesday January 4 at 1 p.m. in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday January 2 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
Christine D. Kudron
WORCESTER - Christine D. (Kimbar) Kudron, 69, of Autumn Village Nursing Home, 25 Oriol Dr., died Thursday Dec. 30 in the nursing home.
She leaves her husband of many years, Raymon P. Kudron; three daughters, Donna M. Joppas of Worcester; Lisa A. Kierstead of Clinton and Janine V. Penny of Worcester; a brother, Henry J. Kimbar of Worcester; four sisters, Jane M. Kimbar and Sophie M. Kimbar both of Worcester; Mary T. Conway of North Weymouth and Sr. M. Audrey Kimbar, CSFN of Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Tara, Amanda and David and two great-grandchildren, Allyson and Jackson and nephews and nieces. She was predececeased by a sister, Bertha Kimbar and seven brothers, Thomas, Chester, Joseph, Stanley, Charles, Edward and Jan Kimbar. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Alexander and Josephine I. (Sokolowski) Kimbar and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Kudron was a teacher for the City of Worcester and taught several years at Rice Square School and Dartmouth Street School and retired many years ago. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Worcester State Teacher’s College. Christine was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.
The funeral will be held on Monday January 3 from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10 : 30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

Helen T. Turecki
CENTREVILLE, VA - Helen T. (Wojdakowska) Turecki, 86, of 15215 Honsena Dr., formerly of Worcester, MA., died Thursday Dec. 30 in Fair Oaks Hospital, Fairfax, Va. Her husband of 53 years, Felix C. Turecki died July 3, 1996.
She leaves two daughters, Jeanne S. Nelson of Centreville; and Nancy E. Savy of Hobe Sound, Fl., a brother, Chester Wojdakowski of Hyde Park, Ma., three grandchildren, Caroline, Natalie and Joshua and several nephews and nieces. She was born in South Boston, daughter of Anthony and Lillian (Turecki) Wojdakowski and lived most of her life in Worcester before moving to Centreville.
Mrs. Turecki was an office manager and bookkeeper many years for Millbrook Distributors. She retired in 1987. Helen was a former member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Worcester.

Mary Ann Jurgiel
WORCESTER - Mary Ann Jurgiel, 84, of 45 Upland Gardens Dr., died Saturday January 1 in her home.
She leaves a brother, George R. Jurgiel of Worcester and a sister, Anne M. Portelance of Leicester; 8 nephews and nieces, 11 grand nephews and grand nieces and 16 great grand nephews and great grand nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Stephen Jurgiel, Joseph Jurgiel and Stephanie Jurgiel and a half brother Fred A. Berestin. Her step father, John Berestin and step brothers and step sister, Thomas Berestin, John Berestin and Stella Garrett also died before her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Vronicka) Jurgiel and lived here all her life.
Miss Jurgiel worked 25 years as an accountant for Guaranty Bank and retired many years ago. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s School and Commerce High School. Mary Ann was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Jennifer D. Kalinowski
WORCESTER - Jennifer D. Kalinowski, 19, of 121 Perry Ave., died Monday January 10 in St.Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
Jennifer leaves her parents, Joseph C. Kalinowski, Sr. and Joan M. (Gustowski) Kalinowski, two brothers, Joseph C. Kalinowski, Jr. and Edward T. Kalinowski, two sisters, Katherine J. Kalinowski and Victoria M. Kalinowski all at home; her maternal grandmother, Edna T. Gustowski of Worcester and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was born in Worcester January 9, 1986.
Miss Kalinowski attended Westfield State College and was a member of the Class of 2008. She graduated with honors in June 2004 from St. Mary’s High School where she was an honor student, an Honor Society member, a member of the drama club and also played soccer. Jennifer loved music and her computer and has an extensive CD collection.
She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Jennifer was an organ donor.
