Joseph J. Collier III, 46
Joseph J. Collier III, 46, of 112 Water St., Clinton, died Friday, Nov.
22, 2002 in UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 18 years, Lori (Granata) Collier; his mother,
Rose (Kinosian) Polewarczyk of Clinton; two sisters, Tara Dowd and
Eden Tejada, both of Clinton; a brother, Tracy Polewarczyk of
Hampton, Va.; nieces and nephews.
A brother, Edward J. Polewarczyk, died in 1996. He was born in Clinton,
son of the late Joseph J. Collier II, and graduated from Clinton High
School in 1974.
Mr. Collier was a salesman for various car dealerships in the
Worcester County area. He was a self-employed car dealer for the past
five years.
Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience
of the family. Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., is
directing arrangements.
John A. Reardon, 70
John A. Reardon, 70, of 22 Ivy Drive, Lancaster, died Friday, Nov.
22 in Clinton Hospital as a result of smoking.
He leaves his wife of 45 years; Geraldine D. (Gulliver) Reardon, a
son, David M. Reardon of Clinton, a daughter, Jacqueline A. Folger of
Lancaster, two brothers; Ralph Reardon of Sterling and Donald
Reardon of Las Vegas, three grandsons, several nieces and nephews. A
son, Jeffrey J. Reardon, died in 1976. He was born in Clinton, son of
Ralph and Mary (Garrity) Reardon and lived in Lancaster for many
years.
He owned and operated Reardon’s Barber Shop of Clinton
for 15 years and later worked as an assembler for General Motors Corp.,
formerly of Framingham until its closing. He attended Clinton High
School.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War and received
four Bronze Stars. During the Vietnam War, he was a peace
activist who supported and participated in the anti-war movement.
Mr. Reardon was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church,
Clinton, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the United
Auto Workers Union. He was a former member of the Clinton Lodge of
Elks and a former member and past president of the local chapter of the
Barbers Union. He enjoyed tennis, skiing and canoeing and was an avid
reader.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Nov. 26 from the Robert J. McNally
Funeral Home, 304 Church Street, Clinton with a Mass in St. John the
Evangelist Church, 80 Union Street, Clinton. Burial was in St. John’s

Patrick Windward Jr., 78
Patrick J. Windward Jr., 78, of 1 Magnolia Way, Sterling, a U.S.
Navy veteran of three wars and a retired postmaster, died Thursday,
Nov. 21, 2002 in UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus,
Worcester, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Marcelle R. (Bacon) Windward;
nine sons, Patrick J. Windward III of Lancaster, Brian A.
Windward of Holden, Brendan P., Shaun K. and Glenn F. Windward,
all of Sterling, Michael B. Windward of Orange City, Fla., Dana V.
Windward of the Gilbertville section of Hardwick, Richard T. Windward
of West Boylston and Marc A. Windward of Clinton; four
daughters, Cheryll A. Lein and Renee M. Traina, both of Sterling,
Paulette T. Fuller of Clinton and Marcelle D. Skidmore of Fitchburg;
24 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was born in Fort Meade, Md., son of Patrick J. and
Helen (Grimley) Windward, and lived in Sterling most of his life. He
attended Clinton High School.
Mr. Windward served 22 years with the Navy during World
War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, retiring in 1963 as
chief warrant officer. He then worked two years for Scott Associates
of Clinton before becoming postmaster at the Sterling Junction
Post Office for 17 years until his retirement. He was a member of St.
Richard of Chichester Church, Worcester County Chapter of the
Retired Officers Association, American Legion and Veterans of
Foreign Wars. He was a member and past president of the Postmasters
Association and a founding member and coordinator of the Alcoholics
Anonymous meetings at St. Richard's Church. He was a
deep sea diver.
The funeral was held Monday, Nov. 25, from Robert J.
McNally Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, with Mass in
St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St. Burial will be in St.
John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Memorial donations may be made to
Alzheimer's Association of Eastern Florida Vitale of Beverly; 16 grandchildren;
many great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; nieces and
nephews. A sister, Louise LeMire, predeceased her. She was born in
Lowell, daughter of Alfred and Marie L. (Maheu) Guilmette, and
lived in the Hudson and Marlboro area for 70 years.
Mrs. Estabrook worked many years at the Farley School cafeteria
before retiring.
The funeral was held Friday, Nov. 22, from Merrill-Carleton
Funeral Home, 1 Pleasant St., with a Mass in St. Michael's Church, 21
Manning St. Burial was at Forestvale Cemetery. Donations may be
made to a charity.
Ferdinand Martinez, 75
Ferdinand Martinez, 75, of 44 Flagg St., formerly of Belmont,
died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002 in Clinton Hospital after an illness.
He leaves three sons, Pablo Martinez of Belmont, David Mart inez
of Springfield and John Mart inez of Munich, Germany; a daughter,
Marie Malcolmson of Clinton; a grandson; nephews and nieces. A
brother predeceased him. He was born in Tampico, Mexico, son of
Angel and Maria (Padilla) Martinez.
He graduated from City College and received a master's degree
in chemistry from Brooklyn Polytechnical College, both in New
York. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Martinez worked for Coulter Corp., Bedford, before retiring.
He was a member of Presbyterian Church U.S.A.
The memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, in
Presbyterian Church U.S.A., 175 Chestnut St. Burial will be at the
family’s convenience. Donations may be made to Dialysis Department,
UMass Memorial Medical Center-Hahnemann Campus, 281 Lincoln St.,
Worcester, MA 01605.

Marion Bednarcyk, 81
Marion “Betty” (Karlonas) Bednarcyk, 81, of 19 Belmont
Ave., Worcester, a retired crossing guard, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002
in Hermitage Nursing Home, Worcester, after a brief illness.
Her husband, Joseph Bednarcyk, died in 2000. She leaves a
son, James R. Bednarcyk of Clinton, with whom she lived; and several
nephews and nieces. She was born in Hudson, daughter of Joseph
and Elizabeth (Pulonis) Karlonas, and lived in Lithuania before
returning to Hudson and graduating from Hudson High
School. She lived many years in Clinton.
Mrs. Bednarcyk worked at Myron Mills and was a school
crossing guard for the town of Clinton before retiring. She was a
member of St. John the Evangelist Church.
The funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 5, from Philbin-Comeau
Funeral Home, with a Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial
was in the parish cemetery.
