William A. 'Billy' Martin, 90
FRAMINGHAM - William A. "Billy" Martin, 90, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.
He was the husband of Susanne F. (Tosti) Martin of Framingham.
Born in Walpole, he son of the late John P. and Mary (Cleary) Martin. A lifelong resident of Framingham, Mr. Martin was raised in Saxonville.
Mr. Martin was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
A superintendent for the Framingham Housing Authority for 25 years, Mr. Martin retired in 1983. Previously he was employed by General Motors Corp. in Framingham for many years. He was a member of the Framingham Lodge of Elks BPOE 1264, St. Bridget's Holy Name Society, and an original member of the Framingham Heart Study. He loved to play golf.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Martin is survived by one daughter, Deborah M. Carroll and her husband, Jim, of Hopedale; two sisters, Kathleen Bowman and her husband, Albert, of Westborough, and Sister Mary John Patrick, SMSM, of Waltham; two granddaughters, Christine Carroll and Lauren Carroll, both of Hopedale; his sister-in-law, Mille Deady of Framingham; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Owen, Joseph, Frederick and John Patrick Martin, Anne Frawley, and Mary Brent.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 4, at St. Bridget's Church, Framingham Centre.
Burial followed in St. Tarcisius Cemetery, Framingham.

John Wright, 78
HOPKINTON - John Wright, 78, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at home following an illness.
He was the husband of Rita V. (Cronin) Wright, who died in 1980.
Born in Hopkinton, where he lived all his life, he was the son of the late Walter and Mildred (Downs) Wright.
A graduate of Hopkinton High School, Class of 1943, Mr. Wright was retired from Anton's Cleaners. He had been a longtime member of the Hopkinton Grange and served for many years as a water/sewer commissioner for the town of Hopkinton.
Mr. Wright is survived by five sons, Edward Wright and his wife, Cheryl, of Plainfield, Conn., Robert Wright and his wife, Sheryl, of Hopkinton, Peter Wright and his fiancee, Martha Collins, of Westborough, Paul Wright and his wife, Cheri, of Hopkinton, and Philip Wright and his wife, Yvonne, of Southborough; two daughters, Karen Wright of Southbridge, and Suzanne Quigley and her husband, William, of Grafton; one brother, William D. Wright of Hopedale; one sister, Jean McIntyre of Hopkinton; 15 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wright was also the brother of the late Donald G. Wright, Charles A. Wright, Malcolm E. Wright and Doris Merrifield.
The funeral service will be private.

Dorothy E. Griffin, 86
WESTBOROUGH - Dorothy E. Griffin, 86, of Westborough, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at the Northeast Specialty Hospital in Natick.
She was the wife of Cecil A. Griffin to whom she was married for 63 years.
Born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., she was the daughter of the late George C. and Nora (Warner) Cowling.
Mrs. Griffin was a graduate of Lyndon Normal School in Vermont and was an elementary school teacher for the Westborough Public Schools for 24 years. She was a member of the Vermont.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Edwin W. Griffin of Danville, Ill., and Arland G. Griffin and his wife, Janice (Johnson) Griffin of Frederick, Md.; one daughter, Joyce R. Croci and her husband, Edward, of Milford; one sister, Ruth Drummond of Keene, N.H.; her siblings, John Tibbets and his wife, Hester, of Dalton, Massachusetts, 805 West Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601.
John R. Mahoney, 81
SOUTHBOROUGH - John R. Mahoney, 81, of Southborough, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester after a lengthy illness.
He was the husband of Rita (Plante) Perks Mahoney and the former husband of Carol (Stevenson) Mahoney, who died in 1991.
Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late John and Annie (O'Regan) Mahoney.
Mr. Mahoney was a 1941 graduate of Framingham High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, participating in the North African and European theaters.
After the war, he earned his bachelor and master's degrees in business administration at Northeastern University and became a registered professional engineer.
He pursued his accounting/industrial engineering career at Dennison Manufacturing Co. of Framingham, the Arthur Young Accounting Firm of Boston, and Raytheon Co. of Waltham. Later, he became an officer at the former Bank of Boston and treasurer of Feecon Co. of Westborough.
He enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, dancing and sports. He was a member of the Newman Club of Northeastern University, the American Legion of Framingham, Accounting Engineering Societies of America, Sudbury River Tennis Club of Framingham, Southborough Senior Citizens and St. Matthew Church of Southborough, where he was a communicant. He was formerly a communicant of St. Stephen's and St. Tarcisius, both of Framingham.
Besides his wife, he leaves a stepdaughter, Carol Smith and her husband, Kevin, of Princeton; a sister, Ella L. Mahoney of Marlborough; a granddaughter, Kelina Smith; a cousin, James F. O'Regan and his wife, Mary, of Westborough; and several other cousins living in California.
A Mass of Resurrection was held Monday, Aug. 16, at St. Matthew's Church, Southborough.

Edward H. Dugas, 89
WESTBOROUGH - Edward H. Dugas, 89, of Westborough and formerly of Attleboro, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester.
He was the husband of Ethel (Bursely) Dugas, who died on Sept. 15, 1986.
Born in Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, he was the son of the late Seniah and Lillian (Cloutier) Dugas. He was a lifelong resident of Attleboro and attended Attleboro schools.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, predecessor to the Air Force. He served with the 22nd Bomber Squadron in the South Pacific as an airplane and engine mechanic. He attained the rank of sergeant.
He worked as a heating oil system salesman for W.H. Riley and Co. of North Attleboro for more than 20 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church of Attleboro, a member of the Attleboro Lions Club, the North Attleboro Elks Club and the Dale Carnegie course. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and bowling. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and treasured spending time with his family.
He leaves his daughter, Lynne Richer of Southborough; his son, Steven Dugas of Marblehead; three brothers, Lawrence "Larry" Dugas of Pawtucket, R.I., and Hector Dugas and Donald Dugas, both of Attleboro; his grandchildren, Greg and Adam Richer, both of Southborough; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Emery Dugas, Beatrice Astin, Margaret "Peggy" Bristol and Jeannette Dugas.
A funeral was held Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the Cook-Hathaway Funeral Home, Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian burial, at Holy Ghost Church, Attleboro.
