Lillian J. Nobles, 77, Holliston
HOLLISTON - Lillian J. Nobles, 77, of Holliston, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick.
She was the wife of Robert B. Nobles. They were married for 55 years.
Born in Scotland, she was the daughter of the late David and Marion (Graham) McKellar.
A resident of Holliston since 1946, she was employed as a librarian in the children’s section of the Holliston Library from 1965 to 1990. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, and traveling in the eastern United States and Canada.
Besides her husband, she leaves her son, Frederick Nobles of Middleboro; her daughters, Marion (Nobles) Brockert of Marlborough, Carol Grann of Ashland, and Linda Lannin of Mason, Washington St. (Rte. 16), Holliston. The Rev. Ernest Batton will officiate.
Burial will take place at BayView Cemetery, Hatfield Point, New Brunswick, Canada, at a later date.
Calling hours will be Friday, Feb. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m., prior to the funeral service.

Frank C. Hancock, 74, Wenham
WENHAM - Frank Chalmers Hancock, 74, of Wenham, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at the Soldier’s Home in Chelsea.
He was the husband of Elizabeth Ann (Burbank) Hancock for 50 years.
Born in Chelsea, he was the son of the late Jonathan C. and Henrietta (Lambach) Hancock.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II as a radioman aboard a submarine chaser in the Pacific.
Following the war, he earned his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Northeastern University in Boston.
He was the founder and president of Hancock Survey Associates Inc. in Danvers for 16 years, and was the co-founder of Essex Survey Service in Salem, where he worked for 20 years.
A longtime resident of Wenham, he was a scout master and Water Commissioner for the Town of Wenham. He was a member of the Hamilton Congregational Church and Park Street Church in Boston. He enjoyed hiking with his family, and completed New England’s highest peaks, and Maine, and Jennifer C. Hansen of Lebanon, Pennsylvania and raised in Bridgeport, Conn., he was the son of the late John and Mary (Gallagher) Duffy. Mr. Duffy was a resident of Marlborough from 1964 to 1971, when the family moved to Hudson. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Korean War. Mr. Duffy was employed at Polaroid for 26 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Sharon Booth of Auburn, Sandra Brogie of Acton, James Duffy Jr. and Pam Allinson, both of Marlborough; five grandchildren, Brandon and Brianne Booth and Jennifer, Matthew and Kevin Brogie; two sisters, Mary Jane Lambert of Florida. A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington St., Acton. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery, Concord Road, Acton. Arrangements were under the direction of the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Mass. Ave. (Rte. 111), Acton. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association National Office, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabasas Hills, CA 91391-5104, for research and to benefit families affected by Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Frances L. Lawton, 95, of Framingham, formerly of Chelsea, Medford and Melrose
FRAMINGHAM - Frances L. Lawton, 95, of Framingham, formerly of Chelsea, Medford and Melrose, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001. Born in Chelsea, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary " Minnie " (Ryan) Lawton and had lived in Framingham since 1985. Among her survivors is a great-niece, Heather (McCree) Dwinells and her husband, Keith, of Marlborough. Lona Chappell NORTH ANDOVER - Lona (Eddy) Chappell, 83, of North Andover, died Feb. 19, 2001. Mrs. Chappell was the wife of Charlie Chappell, recently celebrating their 54th anniversary. She was the former wife of the late Staff Sgt. Thomas J. Daigneault of Hudson, who was killed in action in Yokohama, Japan, in 1945. Born in New Haven, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Arthur Calvin and Helen (Molnar) Eddy. Raised in Bell, California and Maureen Barney of Hudson; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday, Feb. 22 at 10:30 a.m. from the F.J. Higgins Funeral Home, 4236 Maine, and Paul Wilcox and his wife, Ellen, of Milton; and four grandchildren, Jacob Stotz and Shania LeDuc, both of Marlborough, and Jesse Wilcox and Alise Wilcox, both of Tucson, Ariz.
A funeral service was Friday, Feb. 16, at 10:30 a.m., at the John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main St., Marlborough.
Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery, Marlborough.
