WEBSTER – Dorothy J. (Nowak) Piasta, 79, formerly of Nelson Street, died Monday, March 29, in Hubbard Regional Hospital. Her husband of 50 years, Walter J. Piasta, died in 1995.
She leaves 2 daughters, Mrs. Victor Cutroni of Oceanside, CA, and Debra Shepard of Thompson, CT; a sister, Rita Katrenak of Webster; 9 granchildren, Michael Cutroni of Alburquerque, NM, Timothy Cutroni of Cherry Valley, MA, Loreen Cutroni of Mililani, Hawaii, Scott & Carol Ann Shepard, Genna, Daniel, Colyn & Dana Petre all of Thompson, CT; 6 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was born in Webster, daughter of John and Helen (Kroll) Nowak. Mrs. Piasta worked as a stitcher at Webster Shoe Company for many years and then as a mender at Anglo Fabrics Co. for several years before retiring.
The funeral will be held Saturday, April 3, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Saint Joseph Church, 12 Main Street, North Grosvenordale, CT. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. A calling period will be from 8:45 to 9:45 Saturday morning at the funeral home.
George F. "Joe" McFadden

WORCESTER - George F. “Joe” McFadden, 92, formerly of 24 Victor Avenue, died Sunday, June 2nd in St. Mary Healthcare Center. His wife Mary (Sullivan) McFadden died in 1974. He leaves two nephews; Richard McFadden of Auburn and Kenneth Paradis of Leicester and two nieces; Jane Bourgeois of Worcester and Mary Early of Auburn.
He was born in Worcester the son of Michael and Bridget (Barron) McFadden. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. Mr. McFadden was a truckdriver and warehouse worker for New England Grocers for over 30 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, Local 170 teamsters union and the Worcester Chapter 4 Disabled American Veterans.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 6th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 5th in the funeral home.

HOLDEN-Mary M. Loughlin, 84 died Monday, June 3rd in Holy Trinity Nursing Home after an illness. She leaves her brother, James Loughlin of Worcester; nieces and nephews. A brother, John V. Loughlin predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester son of John and Nora (O’Connor) Loughlin and lived in Holden for many years. She graduated from Commerce High School and St. Vincent School of Nursing. Ms. Loughlin was an x-ray technician at the former Holden Hospital for many years before retiring.
The funeral will be held Thursday, June 6th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a mass at 10:00 AM in St. Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton Street, Worcester. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.

WORCESTER - Therese E. (Gatto) Conway, of Worcester died Friday, June 7th in Salisbury Nursing Home after an illness. Her husband, Joseph T. Conway died in 1999. She leaves 2 sisters, Rose L. Stolulonis and Lorraine C. Olson both of Worcester; many nephews and nieces. 5 brothers, Thomas P., Frederick W., Francis E., Arthur B., Joseph H. Gatto and a sister, Mary R. Madonna all predeceased her.
She was born in Auburn daughter of Thomas P. and Alma L. (Darche) Gatto and lived in Worcester for many years. Mrs. Conway was the owner of Conway Realty for 15 years retiring in 2000. She was a member of Christ the King Church.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, June 11th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Entombment will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be Monday, June 10th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL-Christine J. (Leary) Wells, 76, of Port Charlotte, died Wednesday, July 24th in Medical Center Hospital, Punta Gorda, FL after a brief illness. She leaves her husband of 49 years, Charles E. Wells; a brother, John J. Leary, Jr. of Milton, MA and several nephews and nieces. A brother Thomas C. Leary predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, MA the daughter of John J. and Mary C. (Mahoney) Leary and was a graduate of Commerce High School and the Worcester School of Business Science. Mrs. Wells was employed by Squibb Pharmaceutical Company in Philedelphia and previously worked at Rockwood Sprinkler Co., Ashworth Textile Card Co., and the Worcester School of Business Science. She was a communicant at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Port Charlotte, where she served as a eucharistic minister and as a past officer of the Council of Catholic Women. Mrs. Wells had been an active volunteer for St. Joseph and Fawcett Memorial Hospitals and was a member of the Irish American Club.
The funeral will be held on Monday, July 29th from O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, MA with a mass at 10:00 AM in St. Bernard's Church, 228 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 28th in the funeral home.

WORCESTER - Sophia R. (Roszko) Veleno, 91, of 101 Chadwick Street, died Wednesday, July 31st, in Saint Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after a heart attack. Her husband, Michael Veleno died in 1991. She leaves 4 daughters, Patricia L. Zambarano of Worcester, Judith Boehlein of Gainesville, FL, Michele M. Morris of Auburn and Margaret M. Chapman of Worcester; a brother, Constantine Roszko of Oxford; 3 sisters, Hilary Simone and Sally Harris both of Worcester and Stasia Gustowski of Framingham, MA; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. A brother, Raymond Roszko and 2 sisters, Eleanor Gallagher and Therese Abdella predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Thomas and Eleanor (Gajkowska) Roszko and has lived here most of her life. She attended Our Lady of Czestochowa High School. Mrs. Veleno worked as a stitcher for the Toomey Co. and also the David Clark Co. where she had stitched the inner liner of John Glenn’s helmet for NASA. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angles Church. She was an avid card player and an expert crocheter.

WORCESTER - John J. Carrigan, 79 of 15 Leslie Road and Centerville died Saturday August 3rd at home after an illness. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Marion M. (Allen) Carrigan; a son, John P. Carrigan of Marston Mills; a daughter, Nancy P. Carrigan of Centerville; 3 grandchildren, Deirde P. Carrigan and Colleen M. Carrigan both of Marston Mills, Stephanie J. Carrigan of Springfield. 2 sisters, Helen K. Daley and Rose Liberty both predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester son of Patrick M. and Nora (Foley) Carrigan and lived here all his life. He graduated from South High School. Mr. Carrigan worked as a salesman for 30 years for H.P. Hood & Sons in Boston. He worked for 20 years as a Worcester Superior Court Officer and Deputy Sheriff for Worcester County retiring in 1997. He was a member of the H.P. Hood Quarter Century Club, Retired State, County & Municipal Employees Association, a retired member of the AFL-CIO Local 254 and a past member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
The funeral will be Wednesday, July 7th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, July 5th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, July 6th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the funeral home.
