PLYMOUTH-Liberty F. (Fotiades) Kontos, 90, of 68 Beach Street died Tuesday, August 12th in Mayflower Nursing Home. Her husband, Nicholas Kontos died in 2000. She leaves a stepson, James Kontos of Waltham; 2 stepdaughters, Mina Davos of Chestnut Hill and Pauline Berliss of Needham; 2 brothers, Louis G. Fotiades of Raliegh, Massachusetts, 01609-1908.
Frances L. Scherner

WORCESTER-Frances L. Scherner, 90 of 54 Glendale Street died Sunday, August 10th in UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus. Her husband, Charles E. Scherner died in 1970. She leaves a son, Robert K. Scherner of Worcester; 2 daughters, Marion S. Leonhard of Palos Verdes Estates, CA and Nancy S. Hayes of New Providence, NJ; 2 grandchildren, Scott M. Leonhard of San Diego, CA and Keith Hayes of New Providence, NJ.
She was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia the daughter of Leon and Marion (Chisholm) Smith. Mrs. Scherner was a homemaker and previously worked for Crompton & Knowles Co. She loved her cat Molly, her children and her grandchildren. Her hobbies included bowling, traveling, gardening, walking, reading, and the Boston Celtics. She especially enjoyed visiting Moore State Park in Paxton.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 16th in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Thursday, August 14th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Hospital, 300 Longwood Avenue, Boston, NC, James McBride of Oakland, CA, Ronnie McBride of NJ, George, Russell and Phillip McBride all of Worcester, 2 sisters Dorothy Telfore and Rosa Amegah both of Worcester, her former husband Milton A. Price, Jr. of Worcester, 19 grandchildren, many nephews and nieces and cousins. A brother, Larry McBride predeceased her.
She was born in Louisville, GA the daughter of George McBride, graduated from the High School of Commerce and attended Worcester State College and Quinsigamond College. Mrs. Price worked as a teachers aide for the Worcester Public School System for many years until retirement. She was a foster mother for the Dept. of Social Service for over 20 years before and after her retirement. She was a member of the Nokomis Temple #36 and the Nora F. Taylor Council #111, where she served as the financial secretary for both divisions, the past Granddaughter Rulers, N.E. State and Eastern Canada, daughter of Elk-active member of beauty and talent and enjoyed gardening and her grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 29th in Second Baptist Church, 14 Hammond Street. Burial of cremains will be in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour is from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM the morning of the funeral in the church. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing the arrangements.

Donald John Price, Jr., 54, of 19 Grove St., died Saturday, Nov. 27 at home after a long battle with cancer.
He leaves two sons Graeme J. Price of SanFrancisco, Parker all of Worcester,two brothers Kevin A. Price of Westfield, Stephen W. Price of Worcester, three sisters Ellen A. Chauvin and Mary Anne Carlson both of Spencer, Cathleen A. Kelly of Tucson, Az., five grandchildren, Jillian, Michael, Matthew, Megan and Allistaire, many neices and nephews.
Mr. Price was an automotive consultant for A.D.M.I. Corp. of Arizona in 1979. He enjoyed hiking, travel, music and spending time with his family. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 30 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer. Louis H. Dumas, 75 of 205 Rawson Street, died Friday Dec. 3 in the Life Care Center of Auburn after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 35 years Ruth A. (Anger) Dumas, two sons Matthew E. Dumas and his wife Leah of Paxton and Philip L. Dumas and his wife Laurie of Norwell, a brother Eddie Dumas of Brownsville, Texas, three grandchildren Melissa A., Sarah M. and Lauren E. Dumas of Paxton, and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers Alfred and Arthur Dumas.
Mr. Dumas was born in Worcester son of Eli and Rosalie A. (Strack) Dumas. He graduated from Commerce High School and Worcester Junior College. He was an accountant for 25 years at Sydney & Saul Feingold, CPA, formerly of Worcester, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Pius X Church in Leicester. He enjoyed computers, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Monday Dec. 6 from the Morin-Morrison Funeral Home, 1131 Main Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, 1154 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held Monday from 8:30-9:30 AM in the funeral home. Eugene R. Hurley

Eugene R. Hurley,76, of 48 Lake St., died Friday, Nov. 26 at UMASS Memorial, 55 Lake Ave. in Worcester following an illness.
He leaves his wife of 30 years, Ann O. (Daigle) Hurley, a brother Robert Hurley of Deerfield Beach, Fl., two sisters Sr. Marion Hurley with the Sisters of St. Joseph in Springfield and Eleanor Morrissey of Holyoke, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hurley was a business teacher for 31 years at David Prouty High School in Spencer and 2 years as faculty manager of the Athletics Dept., before retiring in 1989.
He graduated from St. Jerome's High School in Holyoke, Holyoke Junior College, American International College in Springfield where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master's Degree at Univ. of Mass. in Amherst.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church where he played the organ and sang in the choir for several years as well as attending the adoration chapel weekly for many years. He also played the organ at Notre Dame Church in Worcester at onetime. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Hurley, along with the support of his wife ran the successful David Prouty High School Booster's Club since 1960. In honor of his longtime work the David Prouty High School Football field was named for Mr. Hurley. From 1960-77 he was in charge of the David Prouty High School Cheerleading Tournament (oldest in Central Mass.). "Gene" was known to all who came in contact with, attended or graduated from David Prouty due to his longtime and daily involvement with the school even after his retirement in 1989.
Born in Holyoke, he was the son of Eugene and Margaret (Hannon) Hurley.
The funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 29 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St. Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer.
