Stuart W. Morrow
PAXTON- Stuart W. Morrow, 79, of 59 Rockland St., died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at home after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Mabel E. (Davidson) Morrow; a son, Andrew S. Morrow of Paxton; a daughter, Evelyn L. Morrow of Worcester; two brothers, Richard and Donald Morrow, both of Paxton; two sisters, Lillian Milner of Dudley and Emily Martin of Lexington; and a grandson.
He was born in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, son of William J. and Sarah A. (Priest) Morrow, and was raised in Grafton. He lived 20 years in West Boylston before moving to Paxton in 1953. He graduated from Major Edwards High School, West Boylston.
Mr. Morrow was a self-employed farmer and owned and operated Morrow Brothers Farm for 49 years. He was a member of the National Farmers Association. He enjoyed sports cars and motorcycles. He was also an inventor and held several welding and woodworking patents.
The funeral service was held August 2, in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial was in Howard Cemetery, Sutton. Donations may be made to Autism Resource Center of Central Calif.; a sister, Helen "Pat" Black of Denver, Col., and a granddaughter. She was born in Cranbrook, British Columbia, and lived in Worcester for six years and Paxton for 20 years before moving to Sun City West in 1984.
Mrs. Fenton was a member of Desert Palms Presbyterian Church, and volunteered for Sun Health Hospitals and UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus, Worcester. She was active in charitable organizations including the Worcester County Association for the Blind and the American Red Cross.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 14, in Desert Palms Presbyterian Church, 13459 Stardust Blvd., Sun City West. Burial will be in Sunland Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 919 N. Calif.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. His first wife, Dorothy (Oikle) Pelley, died in 1970. A sister, Dorothy Timmons, and a brother, John Pelley, also predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Daniel and Daisey (DeMary) Pelley, and lived in Red Bank, Worcester and Holden before returning to Red Bank in 1972.
Mr. Pelley was a supervisor in the electrical department of Wyman-Gordon Co., Worcester, for 29 years, retiring in 1971. He was a member of Burncoat Baptist Church, Worcester, the Mystic Lodge of Masons 21 in Red Bank and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in the Valley of Trenton. At 17, he obtained a pilot's license, becoming the youngest licensed pilot in Calif., Edward J. Polwrek of Greenfield and Richard K. Polwrek of Goshen; a daughter, Sandra P. Shoro, with whom he lived; a sister, Barbara Polwrek of Northampton; seven grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Elizabeth Matusewicz and Catherine Celmar, predeceased him. He was born in the Haydenville section of Williamsburg, son of John and Catherine (Matrishon) Polwrek, and lived in Florence before moving to Holden seven years ago. He graduated from Williamsburg High School.
Mr. Polwrek was a machinist for Northampton Cutlery. He was a member of St. George's Church in Worcester and the Friends of the Holden Council on Aging. He enjoyed Polish music and gardening.
The funeral was held from Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St. (www.milesfuneralhome.com), with a Mass on December 5, in St. George's Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester. Thaddeus H. Roddenbery
HOLDEN - Thaddeus H. Roddenbery, 81, of Newtown, Pa., formerly of Holden, died Sunday, November 17, 2002 in Newtown.
His wife, Isabelle (Peale) Roddenbery, predeceased him. He leaves a son, Thomas Roddenbery of Lawrenceville, N.J. He was born in Moultrie, Ga., son of Robert S. Roddenbery Jr. and Lucie (Bland) Roddenbery, and lived in Holden before moving to Newtown in April. He graduated from Mercer University, Macon, Ga., in 1943 and was an Army veteran of World War II. He received a masterŐs degree and a doctorate in economics from Boston University.
Mr. Roddenbery worked in the financial services industry in Boston before joining the faculty of WPI, Worcester. From 1975 to 1976, he was a visiting professor of economics at City University of London. He attained emeritus status at WPI in 1990. An accomplished musician, painter and gardener, Mr. Roddenbery was active in the Holden Historic District Commission and was a member of the Worcester Club.
A celebration of life will be held in Worcester in the spring. Burial in Hamilton will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Friends Nursing Home, 99 Barclay St., Newtown, PA 18940.
Jean Crocker
HOLDEN - Jean (Dawe) Crocker, of 101 Chadwick St., Worcester, formerly of John Street, Holden, died Sunday, January 26, 2003 in UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus, Worcester, after an illness.
Her husband of 51 years, D. Cameron Crocker, died in 1990. She leaves a son, David L. Crocker of Worcester; a brother, Earl Dawe of Nova Scotia; a sister, Hildred Lorenzon of Toronto; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Hazel Crocker and Beulah Mann, predeceased her. She was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, daughter of Cyril M. and Maude (Stevens) Dawe, and lived in Worcester and Holden before returning here.
Mrs. Crocker was a planning clerk at Morgan Construction Co. for 15 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of Chaffin Congregational Church and the Friends of the Holden Council on Aging, and was a volunteer with the meals program at the Holden Senior Center.

Curtis Fage
STERLING - Curtis Fage, 79, of 103 North Row Road, died Thursday, January 23, 2003 at home after an illness.
He leaves his wife, Dorothy (Porter) Fage; five sons, William and Gary Fage, both of Sterling, Eric Fage of Leominster, Ronald Fage of Worcester and Scott Fage of Maine. A brother, Gerald Fage, predeceased him. He was born in West Amherst, Nova Scotia, son of Roy D. and Olive (Smith) Fage, and came to the United States many years ago, settling in Sterling.
Mr. Fage worked 40 years at Modern Tool and Die Co., Leominster, before retiring.
The funeral service and burial were private. Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, directed arrangements.
Bernadette Fontaine
STERLING - Bernadette "Bonnie" (LaBossiere) Fontaine, 60, of Basin Street, Daytona Beach, Fla., formerly of Sterling, died Thursday, January 23, 2003 at home.
She leaves her husband of 40 years, George A. Fontaine; a son, Marc LaRose of Altamonte Springs; a daughter, Lauren Niford of Charlton, Mass.; five brothers, Gerald LaRose of Worcester, Mass., David LaRose of Ocklawaha, Richard LaRose of Oxford, Mass., Daniel LaRose of West Brookfield, Mass., and Michael LaRose of Barre, Mass.; two sisters, Betty Ann Harding of Cherry Valley, Mass., and Jeanette Sullivan of Hubbardston, Mass.; and two grandchildren. She was born in Oakdale, daughter of Homer LaBossiere and Elizabeth (Ryan) LaBossiere LaRose, and lived in Sterling before moving to N.H. and Alan R. Goodell of Rutland; two daughters, Jo Ann Hathaway of North Adams and Robin L. Goodell of Charlton; her mother, Jane G. (Patch) Grant of Lexington, N.C.; a brother, Roger Grant of Spokane, Wash.; three sisters, Ardita Powers of Marlboro, Vt., Harriett Morgan of Lexington, N.C., and Diane Smith of Blandford; her husband, Edwin G. Goodell of Leominster; 10 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Springfield, daughter of the late Sidney B. Grant, and lived many years in Stamford, Vt., before moving here 29 years ago. She graduated from Arms Academy in Whitingham, Vt. She was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Ms. Goodell had been an interlibrary loan clerk at Goddard Library at Clark University in Worcester since 1975. She loved the outdoors, camping and gardening. She was a bird enthusiast and a book collector.
