ORANGE - A graveside service was held in South Cemetery on Thursday, Aug. 30, for Christopher M. Fernet, 29, of 100 Summit St. who died at home on Saturday, Aug. 25. The Rev. Vance E. Frank officiated.
Witty's Funeral Home directed arrangements.
Stone Service
Normal: ORANGE - Memorial services for Robert F. Stone, 81, of 292 Mayo Rd., were held Friday, Aug. 31, 2001 in the First Universalist Church. The Rev. Vance E. Frank officiated. Donald Ainsworth was organist.
The Veterans Flag was presented to Mrs. Stone by John W. Smith, Jr., Past Commander of American Legion Post 172. The Marion E. Nason Unity Club hosted a reception in the church vestry following the service.
Charles Young
Charles F. Young, 78, of 459 School St., died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001 in Athol Memorial Hospital following an illness.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Margaret L. (McCarthy) Young; six sons, Timothy J. Young and his wife Becky of Athol, John P. Young of Brewster, Peter J. Young of Greenfield, Brian E. Young of Brattleboro, Vt., Dennis C. Young and his wife Patricia of Mountain View, N.H., a son of J. Raymond and Gertrude (Fowler) Webb. He grew up in Orange and graduated from Orange High School in 1941.
He served with the United States Army during World War II.
A resident of Orange for many years, he moved to Dover at the time General Foods relocated its Minute Tapioca Division there.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and American Legion Post 2, all in Dover.
He leaves his wife, Margaret "Frosty" Webb of Leesburg; two sons, Bruce Webb and Barry Webb, both of Dover; a daughter, Lynn Webb of Niantic, Conn.; a sister, Charlotte Towne of Leesburg, and three grandchildren.
His first wife, Jane (Matthews) Webb died in 1984.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 27 at 1:30 p.m. in South Cemetery.

Emery Service
ORANGE - Funeral services for Janine A. (Landry) Emery, 71, of 168 Brookside Rd., were held Thursday, June 21, in Our Lady Immaculate Church. The celebrant was the Rev. Stephen D. Johnson, pastor. The organist was Theresa Gabis. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Bearers were Ernest Lachance, Brian Emery, Aaron Porter, Michael Lachance, David Mallette and Richard Mallette.
Fiske Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Janine A. Emery, J.F. McElwain Retiree
ORANGE - Janine A. (Landry) Emery, 71, of 168 Brookside Rd. died Sunday, June 17, 2001 in the Athol Memorial Hospital after being stricken ill at home.
She leaves her husband of 51 years, John A. Emery; three sons, George A. Emery of Orange, John A. Emery of Orange, Bruce A. Emery of Athol; a daughter, Linda A. Porter of Royalston; four sisters, Mary Ann Jolly of Gardner, Rita Mallett of Athol, Julieanne Marcotte of Athol, Mary (Alice) Taylor of Concord; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by a sister, Eldora Lachance, who died in 1999.
She was born in Lowell, on Aug. 24, 1929 the daughter of James and Exilia (Landry) Landry. She lived in Lowell for a short time before moving to Athol where she grew up and attended school. She was a resident of Orange for the past 47 years.
She worked at the former J.F. McElwain Shoe Company in Athol for over 25 years retiring when the company closed in 1980. She was a member of the Our Lady Immaculate Church. She enjoyed Bingo, playing yatzee, and cards.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 21 from the Fiske Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church with the Rev. Stephen D. Johnson, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be held Wednesday, June 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Bromfield St. Suite 5, Boston, MA 02108, or to a charity of one's choice.
Albert E. Gravel
TEMPLETON - Albert E. Gravel, 56, of 133 Patriots Rd., died Sunday, June 17, 2001 in Keystone Nursing Home, Leominster. Survivors include three sons, Albert E. Gravel Jr. of Athol, and Adrian A. Aaron L. and Sean M. Gravel, both of Eat Templeton. He lived most of his life in East Templeton.
James M. Deyo; American Legion Commander
James M. "Mike" Deyo, 60, of LaHabra, Calif.
He served 20 years in the United States Marines, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam.
Upon retiring from the military he settled his family in LaHabra. He was the commander of the American Legion, Post 267, in LaHabra.
He was born June 28, 1940, in Gardner, a son of James and Margaret (Hume) Deyo.
He leaves his wife, Pat, of 35 years; a son, Jim Deyo of LaHabra; a daughter, Jacki Riggs of California 90815.
Funeral services were held in California.
Florence E. Loggie, Long - time Area Resident
Florence E. Loggie, 89, of 66 Starrett Ave., died Friday, June 15, 2001 in Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation at Sandalwood in Oxford.
She leaves a son, The Rev. Robert D. Loggie and his wife, Juanita P., of Charlton; two grandchildren, Kevin and Christa Loggie of Worcester; and a great - granddaughter, Hailee E. Cronin - Loggie of Worcester.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Ira Loggie, who died in 1994.
She was born in Dalton on July 6, 1911, daughter of Frederick C. and Elsie (Hand) Wilkey. She grew up in Orange and graduated from Orange High School in 1929.
She worked as a clerk at the former Cox Jewelry Store, and as a manager of the Uptown Cleaners for many years.
Recently she was a member of the Petersham Orthodox Congregational Church, and a former member of the Athol Congregational Church. She volunteered at the Athol Memorial Hospital Gift Shop. She worked at the Athol Congregational Church for several years. She was president of the Worcester Area Women's Fellowship and past president of the church Women's United.
She enjoyed doing needlework and donating things she made to church fairs.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 20 at 2 p.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St., with the Rev. Natalie Maynard officiating. Burial will be private.
There are no calling hours.
