ATHOL - Funeral services for Kim A. (Cote) Carver, 43, of 160 Spring St., were held Tuesday, March 11, in the Fiske Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Bariloni pastor of the Athol - Orange Baptist Church officiated. Burial followed in Silver Lake Cemetery.
The bearers were Charles Cote, Gilbert Cote, Chris Carey, Brian Carey,
Albert O'Lari and Walter Hall.
Helen T. Turecki
CENTREVILLE, VA - Helen T. (Wojdakowska) Turecki, 86, of 15215 Honsena Dr., formerly of Worcester, MA., died Thursday Dec. 30 in Fair Oaks Hospital, Fairfax, Va. Her husband of 53 years, Felix C. Turecki died July 3, 1996.
She leaves two daughters, Jeanne S. Nelson of Centreville; and Nancy E. Savy of Hobe Sound, Fl., a brother, Chester Wojdakowski of Hyde Park, Ma., three grandchildren, Caroline, Natalie and Joshua and several nephews and nieces. She was born in South Boston, daughter of Anthony and Lillian (Turecki) Wojdakowski and lived most of her life in Worcester before moving to Centreville.
Mrs. Turecki was an office manager and bookkeeper many years for Millbrook Distributors. She retired in 1987. Helen was a former member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Worcester.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday January 4 from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday January 4 from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Arthur C. Tate, Foreman, Supervisor, Mass. Port At Logan
PETERSHAM - Visiting hours will be observed in the Vertuccio Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), in Revere, today from 5 - 9 p.m. for Arthur C. Tate, who died suddenly at his Revere home on Saturday, March 8, 2003. He maintained his full - time residence in Petersham.
He was due to retire on March 20 from Mass. Port at Logan Airport, where he had served for 29 years as their general foreman and building supervisor of maintenance.
A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, March 13 at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Pine Hill Cemetery, Peterborough, Maine and lived most of his life in Waltham and Petersham. He was a member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks.
He is the son of the Rev. Gordon P. Tate of Petersham and the late Rosalie (Doleman) Tate. He is the brother of Harold P. Tate and his wife Janet of Merrimac, N.H. He was the father of Julie Delicata and Robin Leonard, both of Newton; William C. Jennings of Arlington, Carole Lane of Barnstable. He was best friend to Coleen Furullo of Revere. He is also survived by his former wife, Patricia A. (Worth) Tate of Arlington, and five grandchildren and a great - granddaughter.

Mary Ann Jurgiel
WORCESTER - Mary Ann Jurgiel, 84, of 45 Upland Gardens Dr., died Saturday January 1 in her home.
She leaves a brother, George R. Jurgiel of Worcester and a sister, Anne M. Portelance of Leicester; 8 nephews and nieces, 11 grand nephews and grand nieces and 16 great grand nephews and great grand nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Stephen Jurgiel, Joseph Jurgiel and Stephanie Jurgiel and a half brother Fred A. Berestin. Her step father, John Berestin and step brothers and step sister, Thomas Berestin, John Berestin and Stella Garrett also died before her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Vronicka) Jurgiel and lived here all her life.
Miss Jurgiel worked 25 years as an accountant for Guaranty Bank and retired many years ago. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s School and Commerce High School. Mary Ann was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday January 5 from HENRY – DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

Daniel C. Varno, Founder Of Varno Industrial Products
ATHOL - Daniel C. Varno, 65, of Acton, formerly of Athol, died Monday, March 10, 2003 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was born in Athol on Oct. 21, 1937, son of Charles W. and Grace A. (Morris) Varno, and son - in - law of William T. and Alice (Perry) McBride of Athol.
He was president and founder of Varno Industrial Products in Boxboro for the past 21 years. He served his country in the 26th Yankee Division of the National Guard for eight years.
For many years he played Santa for local charities and Mass Mother's of Twins Association. He spent many summers at Camp Wiyaka in Richmond, Calif.; daughter Victoria of Leominster; son Daniel Jr. of Littleton; son Thomas and wife Robin and two grandchildren Stephanie and Michael of Keene, Calif. He is also survived by his sister Gloria J. Varno of Warwick, his sister Sylvia (Varno) Brown and nephew Jeff Brown of East Longmeadow.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, March 13, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Mass Ave. (Rte. 111), Acton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington St., Acton.

Cecelia A. "Cece" Dike Active In Service Groups
ORANGE - Cecelia A. "Cece" (Plummer) Dike, 71, of 13 Shelter St., died Saturday, March 8, 2003 at the University of N.H., on Jan. 25, 1932, a daughter of Ralph E. and Florence L. (Baker) Pllummer, she grew up in the Keene, N.H., in 1965.
After her marriage in 1976, she traveled with her husband during his career in the United States Marine Corps, living in Japan and Maryland. While they were overseas she visited Korea and the Phillipines. She was active in several women's service groups during her husband's military service assignments. They returned to Orange after his retirement in 1984.
She was a member of Orange United Methodist Church and was skilled at making crafts, especially enjoying embroidery and ceramics.
She leaves her husband of 26 years, James E. Dike; three sons, Harry L. York, III., Michael R. York and Mark D. York all of Keene, N.H.; a half brother, Martin Malinowski of Westfield; four granddaughters, Stephanie York, Bonnie York, Mindy York and Casey York, all of Keene, N.H.; three step grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. An infant son, Michael H. York, died in 1950.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 14, at 11 a.m. in Witty's Funeral Home, www.wittysfuneralhome.com.
Burial will follow in South Cemetery.
There will be a calling hour from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.

LEOMINSTER - Matthew J. Preville, 35, of 22 Eden Glen, died on Thursday, March 6, 2003 at home after an illness.
Robert L. Shaida Accomplished Artist
ORANGE - Robert L. Shaida, 36, of 102 New Athol Rd., died Saturday, March 8, 2003 at the home of his foster parents, Ronald and Judith Rowe, following an illness.
Born on Oct.10, 1966 in Greenfield, he was a son of Benjamin and Mary (Wyman) Shaida Sr. He had lived in New York; brothers, Benjamin Shaida Jr. of Greenfield, and Lawrence Shaida of Brattleboro, Vt.; sisters, Charlotte Atwood - Gay of Erving, and Marion Blake of Orange; a half sister, Spring, and half brothers, Brian and Samuel, as well as several nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be held in the Levitt Cemetery in Charlemont in the Spring at a date and time to be announced.
Witty's Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.
Ann T. Whittle
Worcester - Ann T. (Celesius) Whittle, 90, of Worcester, died Sunday, Dec. 19, in Christopher House of Worcester.
She leaves a son, Robert E. Whittle of Worcester; a sister, Adele Novia of Worcester; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Christopher, and Robert T. Whittle, all of Worcester; nephews and nieces. A sister, Bernice Knight of Denver, CO, predeceased her. A niece, Carol Peterson of Shrewsbury, died recently. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Charles and Antoinette (Balcius) Celesius and lived here all her life. She graduated from Commerce High School.
Mrs. Whittle was a stitcher at Brown Shoe Company for several years before retiring. She also worked at C.T. Sherer Company at one time.
She was a member of St. Casimir Parish. She enjoyed Bingo and playing cards.
The funeral will be held Thursday, Dec. 23, from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence St. Burial will be private. A calling hour is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, in the funeral home.
