GARDNER - Roger R. Ward, 65, of 6 Moran St., died on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003 in the Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield, following an illness.
Born in Gardner for several years until his retirement in 1976.
Mr. Ward was a member of the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1960 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He recceived his GED in the United States Air Force.
He was a member of the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
He leaves one sister, Mildred L. Dirth of Orange; five nieces, one greatnephew and several cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Ernest and Howard Ward.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 28 from the Boucher Funeral Home, 110 Nichols St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St.
A calling hour at the funeral home will be held Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Burial in the spring will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

ATHOL - Funeral services for Geneva M. (Hains) Peterson, 87, of 739 Daniel Shays Hwy., were held Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003 in the Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home with the Rev. Fr. James B. Callahan, associate pastor of Our Lady Immaculate Church officiating.
Burial was in Silver Lake Cemetery and the bearers were: Steven Christensen, Michael Peterson, Derik Peterson, Ronald Fournier and Robert Lane.
Trombley Services
ATHOL - Funeral services for Jason D. Trombley, 19, of 167 Cobb Hill Rd., were held Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003 in the Athol - Orange Baptist Church. Rev. Rick Truesdell pastor of the North Quabbin Bible Church officiated. Words of remembrance were offered by his close friend Billy Goulette and his father Michael Bridgwood.
Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery. The bearers were, Nicholas Bridgwood, Billy Goulette, Jake Rigopoulos, Victor Perez, Nick Jakoulov, Ryan Rathburn, Andrew Chaisson and Pete Arsenault.
Fiske Funeral Home directed arrangements.
Sister Marie Simoneau
Professed 68 Years Of Religious Vows
PETERSHAM - Sister Marie Simoneau, 90, of the Sisters of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin on North Main Street, died Monday evening, Feb. 24, 2003, at the infirmary of Assumption Residence. Formerly known as Sister Marie - de - Montfort, she professed 68 years of religious vows.
Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of Elzear and Leda (Labreche) Simoneau. She attended the Sacred Heart Parochial School in Southbridge and Assumption Boarding School in Becancourt, Quebec, where she obtained a diploma from the Laval Academy of Music of Quebec. During her years of employment at the American Optical of Southbridge, she studied piano with Professor Tapin, the reputed organist at Notre - Dame Church of Southbridge.
Sister Marie's field of specialization was music. She was recognized as an accomplished piano and violin teacher, church organist, classroom music instructor, rhythm band director, accompanist for choral and orchestra groups.
She further studied string class pedagogy at the School of Music at Boston University, and was a student of Gregorian Chant and solfeggio at the Newton College of the Sacred Heart. In the 1950s Sister Marie became a member of the Boston Diocesan Orchestra. During five years under the direction of Professor and Director of string instruments, Dr. George Barnoff, she organized the St. Joseph String Orchestra of Salem.
Sister taught music during 60 years at the parish schools directed by the Congregation in Lowell, Notre Dame of Southbridge, Indian Orchard, Millbury, and Salem. She came to Maria Assumpta Academy in Petersham in 1974 and spent the next 14 years at Assumption Residence where the music school was relocated in 1984. She also served at community services as cook and community leader.
She leaves her sister, Cecile, a religious of the Congregation of Marie - Repatrice of Montreal; a sister - in - law, Mrs. Florence Simoneau of Prince Edward Island, Canada; and a niece, Madeleine, Mrs. Edward Goding of Kittery, Florida he worked as a driver for the Rainbow Valley and repaired lawnmowers in his spare time. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, fishing and camping.
He leaves his wife of 32 years, Nancy (Rabideau) Young; a son, Louis Young of El Dorado, Calif., Lisa Barrios of Winter Haven, Fla., Diane Clough, Billie Jo Britt, Renee Gates and Kelly Harris, all of Orlando, Jody Tafts of Winter Haven, and Casey Young of Orlando; 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were in Orlando and graveside services will be held Friday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m. in Highland Cemetery in Athol.

Blanchard Services
ATHOL - Funeral services for Leola M. (Guignard) Blanchard, 81, of 317 Brooks Rd., were held Monday, Feb. 24, 2003 with a Mass in Our Lady Immaculate Church. Rev. Stephen D. Johnson, pastor, was the celebrant of the Mass. The organist was Robert Lemoine and the cantor was Jean Partridge.
Burial was in Silver Lake Cemetery. Bearers were John Kucinskas, John Vaitkunas, Richard Verock, Dennis Carey, George Carey, and Alex Clifford.
The J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Jason D. Trombley
Business Major
ATHOL - Jason D. Trombley, 19, of 167 Cobb Hill Rd. went to be with the Lord on, Feb. 21, 2003 in Athol Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 26, 1983 in Greenfield. He grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the class of 2002. He was a student at Mount Wachusett Community College where he was majoring in business. While a student at Athol High School, Jason was a member of the football and volleyball teams. His tenacious work ethic earned him the nickname of "Heart Attack."
Jason enjoyed time with his family and close friends, Billy Goulette, Jake Rigopoulos, Victor Perez and Nick Jakoulov. He spent much time outdoors playing pickup football games and weightlifting in the family game room. He was an active member of the North Quabbin Bible Church. He enjoyed spending time and caring for small children.
He leaves his parents, Michael G. and Barbara A. (Chaisson) Bridgwood of Athol; four brothers, Nicholas M. Bridgwood, Michael P. Morandi, Christopher M. Bridgwood, Cody N. Bridgwood all of Athol; two sisters, Ashley E. Bridgwood, Cassandra L. Bridgwood both of Athol; his maternal grandfather, George Chaisson and his wife Shirley of Ware; his maternal grandmother, Bernadette Chaisson of Athol; his step - grandmother, Velma A. Bridgwood of Edmunds, N.H., Charlene Allen of Del Ray Beach, Fla., Kandace Reed of Athol; two special cousins, Andrew Chaisson of Athol, Ryan Rathburn of Florida; and many additional aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jason is now with his paternal grandmother, Mary - Lou Reed who passed away in 1995.
Funeral services with will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. in the Athol - Orange Baptist Church located at Walnut and Church streets.
Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to the Jason D. Trombley Scholarship Fund c/o Athol Credit Union 513 Main St., Athol, MA 01331. An annual scholarship will be given to an Athol High School graduate.
