CHARLEMONT - Eleanor M. (Graves) Lane, 58, of Main Street, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003 in the Baystate Medical Center.
Joseph J. Tauras
WORCESTER - Joseph J. Tauras, 89, of Dolly Dr., formerly of Millbury St., died Friday December 17 in Blaire House of Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Helen A. (Urevich) Tauras, a daughter, Marion M. Tauras of Worcester; a son, Joseph F. Tauras of Windham, NH; two sisters, Anne Gionet and Helen McDermott, both of Worcester; two grandsons, Nicholas and Matthew and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Charles Tauras, Alexander J. Tauras and Mary Rouleau. He was born in Worcester, son of Alexander and Mary (Alukas) Tauras and has lived here all his life.
Mr. Tauras was a wire coater in the annealing dept. of National Standard Co., for many years and retired in 1980. He was educated in Worcester schools.
He was a member of St. Catherine of Sweden Church, the Lithuanian Social Club and he enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday Dec. 22 from HENRY – DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 1 Wiser Ave. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday Dec. 22 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 3 Wiser Ave., Worcester, 01607, The Blaire House Activity Fund, 116 Houghton St., Worcester, 01604 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, 02140.
Louise E. Thayer
Waitress, Caterer
PETERSHAM - Louise E. (King) Thayer, 89, of 15 West St., died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
She was born on Nov. 10, 1913 in Worcester the daughter of Louis and Mary (McCormick) King. She lived in Maynard before moving to Petersham in 1923. She attended schools in Petersham and graduated from Petersham High School.
Mrs. Thayer worked as a waitress at the former Nichewaug Inn in Petersham. She went on to be a caterer for many events and functions in the Petersham area.
She was a life member of the Petersham Gun Club and a member of the Petersham American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed decorating, wallpapering, and refinishing furniture.
Her husband of sixty - three years, Robert H. Thayer, died in 1996. She leaves two sons, Robert E. Thayer, John W. Thayer both of Athol; three daughters, Carolyn E. Coughlin of Arlington, Patricia A. Kellogg of Florence, Michaele L. Bartus of Petersham; a brother, Gilbert King of Fitchburg; a sister, Alice Greanier of Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St., Athol.
Burial will follow in East Street Cemetery, Petersham.
Calling hours will be held, Friday, Feb. 21, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to a charity of one's choice.

ATHOL - Funeral services were held for Paul S. Buzzell, 81, of 616 Cottage St., who died Tuesday, Feb. 11, were held Feb. 14 in the Fiske Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Bariloni, pastor of the Athol - Orange Baptist Church, officiating. The organist was Janet Haley.
Burial was in the Silver Lake Cemetery.
Edward L. Dobson

GARDNER - Edward L. Dobson, 55, of 17A Knowlton St., Gardner, and formerly of Royalston, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
He was born in Gardner, Jan. 13, 1948, the son of William and Lilly (Kirkman) Dobson. He grew up in Royalston and was educated in the Athol - Royalston schools.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Army. He entered the military on May 26, 1966 and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged, May 25, 1972.
He worked for Harrington and Richardson 1871 LLC in Gardner and Lenard Lucier of Tennessee and several nephews and nieces.
There are no calling hours.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in his memory to the United Way, Texas and her husband, Kenneth.
Russell Johnson was employed by the American Friends Service Committee from 1950 to 1984 as Peace Education Secretary in the New England office. He was an energetic speaker on peace and international issues and a tireless organizer of conferences and other activities directed toward better understanding between peoples of the world. He became an expert on issues relating to the Cold War, the Vietnam war, and Asia. He and Irene and traveled extensively in the United States and around the world in the course of his work; Irene documented their travels photographically.
In the years 1960 through 1965, Russell directed the Quaker - sponsored Conference and Seminar Program for diplomats and young leaders in South and Southeast Asia, living with his family in New Delhi, India. After retiring from the AFSC in 1984 Russell spent one year as the acting executive director of the Unitarian - Universalist Service Committee.
From the early 1950s the Johnson family's home has been on West Road in Petersham. In later years Russell was active in the Petersham Unitarian Church. He loved the country life and was an expert at chopping firewood. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics.
After retirement Russell and Irene traveled the United States in their camper. They particularly enjoyed attending blue grass music festivals and fishing. Fresh - water fishing is a Johnson family obsession, shared by sons and grandchildren, dating from Russ's early years in Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held in Petersham in the spring, on a date to be announced.
Henry M. Kennedy
LAKE WALES, FLA. - Henry Matthew Kennedy, 86, of Lake Wales, died on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003 at the Lake Wales Medical Center of heart failure.
He was a World War II veteran service in the United States Marine Corps 5th Division in the Pacific. He was in communication and oversaw the Navaho code talkers.
Edward L. Dobson
