William L. Bergeron
PAXTON - William L. Bergeron, 51, of 349 Pleasant St., died Thursday, January 6, 2005.
He leaves a son, Roger Bergeron of Worcester; two brothers, Nelson Bergeron of Spencer and Wayne Bergeron of Holland; four sisters, Joanne McDonald of Leicester, Stella Odgren of Canada, Ingrid Berube of Tucson, Az. and Erica Potvin of North Brookfield. He was born in Berlin, N.Y., the son of John and Eva (Korall) Bergstrom and lived 49 years in Holden.
Mr. Bergstrom graduated from Classical High School and Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1935. He was a metallurgist and worked many years at Wyman Gordon Company in Worcester.
A private memorial service for Mr. Bergstrom will be held in the Miles Funeral Home (www.milesfuneralhome.com), 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be in All Faith's Cemetery in Worcester. Beatrice C. Kauppila
PAXTON - Beatrice C. (Murphy) Kauppila, 82, of 120 Holden Road, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 in Holden Nursing Home. She leaves her husband of 53 years, Raymond V. Kauppila; three sons, Glenn S. Kauppila of Jefferson, Neil E. Kauppila of Holden and Alan M. Kauppila of Northbridge; two daughters, Beverly A. Donahue of Acton and Marie L. Kauppila of Charlton; a brother, Timothy C. Murphy, Jr. of Topsfield; a sister, Louise M. Terwilliger of Falls Church, Va.; 11 grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
She was born in Boston, the daughter of Timothy C. and Albina C. (Celle) Murphy, and moved to Paxton in 1951. Mrs. Kauppila graduated from the Forsythe Dental School in Boston and worked as a dental hygienist for various dentists in the local area.
She was a member of St. Columba's Church in Paxton and The Finnish American Club.

Margaret A. Larson
HOLDEN - Margaret A. (Stromberg) Larson, 87, of 22 Laurel Hill Lane, died Monday, January 10, 2005 in UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester. She leaves her husband of 63 years, Bertil I. Larson; a daughter, Linda V. and her husband, Richard B. Kasavich of Holden; her twin sisters, Marion Anderson of Monument Beach and Eleanor Goodhue of Worcester; nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John and Alice (Hogvall) Stromberg and lived in Holden for the past 40 years. She worked as a secretary for Norton Co. for 27 years before retiring in 1977. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church and the Naomi Circle. She was also a member of the Vasa Order of America and the Order of the Eastern Star.
The funeral service for Mrs. Larson will be held at noon on Thursday, January 13, in the Epworth United Methodist Church, Worcester. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 13, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden (www.milesfuneralhom.com). Charles H. McDonald
HOLDEN - Charles H. McDonald, 68, of Hyannis, formerly of Holden, died Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the Worcester Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of 43 years, Jane (Currivan) McDonald; one daughter, Kelle Lynch of West Boylston; three sons, Marty McDonald of Paxton, P.J. McDonald of Holden and Todd McDonald of Paxton; 12 grandchildren; three siblings, Kevin McDonald of Holden, Kay Walsh of Mount Dora, Fla. and Terry Schmidlin of Mendon, Massachusetts.
Mr. McDonald helped thousands of students from around the world during his 31 year tenure as headmaster and director of Eagle Hill School in Hardwick. Earlier he was an educator with the Newton Public Schools and a faculty member at Northeastern University and Mt. Wachusett Community College. He was a founder of the National Association of Private Schools for Exceptional Children and involved in the initial opening of the Warren Conference Center in Ashland. Locally, he was active in the National Eye Care Foundation and developed numerous programs for children with learning differences. He was an active Air Force veteran and former member of the Westboro Police Department. He was very active in the Chaffins Men’s Club in Holden, coaching youth basketball for years.
Mr. McDonald was a member of Tatnuck Country Club, Worcester Country Club, a member and trustee of the Hyannis Yacht Club, and a member of the Nantucket Anglers Club. An avid yachtsman, he held a United States Coast Guard captain’s license and spent years boating throughout Nantucket Sound and the waters off Block Island with friends and family. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville and St. George Church in Worcester.
Calling hours were yesterday. The funeral will be held today, January 13, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. George Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

Robert P. O’Malley Sr.
RUTLAND - Robert P. O’Malley, Sr., 57, of 1194 Main St., Worcester, formerly of Rutland, died on Monday, January 10, 2005 in Autumn Village, Worcester after an illness.
He leaves a son, Robert P. O’Malley, Jr. of Worcester; a daughter, Linda J. O’Malley of Worcester; a brother, Philip O’Malley of Auburn; a sister, Judith Dorney of Mansfield; a grandchild, Caius Spring of Worcester; his former wife, Judith L. O’Malley of Worcester; many nephews and nieces. A brother, James O’Malley, Jr., predeceased him. He was born in Clinton the son of James and Jeanne (LaPlante) O’Malley and lived many years in both Rutland and Worcester.
Mr. O’Malley was the head groundskeeper at the former Rutland Height’s Hospital in Rutland where he worked for 23 years. He later operated a coffee shop for the Maine, formerly of Holden, Everett and Kittery, Maine, the daughter of George Brackett and Bessy Sawyer.
Her husband of 52 years, Calvin Francis, died in September 1980.
They had three children, Norma (deceased in 1954), Calvin B. Peters and Martha E. Peters. They reared their family in Kittery, Maine. Mr. and Mrs. Peters owned and operated the Dipsy Baths on Kennebunk Beach until the business was sold in the early 1960s.
Mrs. Peters enjoyed outdoor activities, including swimming, canoeing and camping. She was a world traveler who explored six continents. She was an avid gardener and spent countless summer hours tending to her flower gardens in Falmouth, and frequently traveled to Hawaii and Maine for over 20 years. He died in June 2003. She leaves her son Calvin and daughter Martha; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Louise S. Young
PAXTON - Louise S. Young, 52, of 349 Pleasant St., Paxton, died Monday, January 10, in St. Vincent Hospital after a short illness.
She leaves four brothers, Alfred Germain, Rainell and Herbert Young, all of Worcester, and Raymond Young of Spencer; two sisters, Margaret Alvarado and Carol Young, both of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews. Another sister, Ella Patricia Germain, predeceased her. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Herbert and Margaret (Trudell) Young. She worked as a secretary for the former Commonwealth Gas Co. for many years. She was an avid collector.
The funeral will be held Thursday, January 13 from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
