James A. Adams
U.S. Army Veteran
ATHOL - James A. Adams, 77, formerly of Main Street, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003 at the Veterans Medical Center, Northampton, where he had resided for the past four years.
Born in Athol, Aug. 2, 1926, a son of Collis and Paulina (Stone) Adams, he lived in Athol most of his life.
A 1944 graduate of Athol High School, he was a United States Army Air Force Veteran of World War II. He served with the 32nd Air Depot in Okinawa and was awarded the Army of Occupation and Victory Medals.
Prior to his retirement, he worked at Athol Table Manufacturing and had previously been employed at the former Union Twist Drill Co.
He enjoyed bowling.
He leaves six brothers, Collis J. Adams of Erving, Clifford G. Adams of Athol, George C. Adams of South Weymouth, John "Jack" Adams of Belchertown, David Adams of Manchester, CT and Thomas Adams of Webster, NH; two sisters, Elizabeth Raymond of Monson and Barbara Adams of Tampa, FL; several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert M. Adams and Paul E. Adams.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, from Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange, with a Liturgy of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 19 Congress St., Orange.
Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to Athol Veterans Park, 134 Chestnut Hill Ave., Athol, 01331 or a charity of the donors choice.

WENDELL - Nellie Belinda Ricketts Parson, 91, of Wendell, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 in the Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield, after a brief illness.
MacIsaac Services
NORTH ORANGE - A Memorial Mass was held on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003 in St. Mary's Church, Orange, for Mary D. (McGuiggan) MacIsaac, 95, of 180 Athol Rd., who died on Sept. 10, 2003 in the Atrium Nursing Center in Middleboro where she had briefly resided.
The Rev. Fr. James Diemand was the celebrant and the Rev. Fr. William Lunney concelebrated. Janet Paoletti was the organist and Theresa Bergquist was the cantor. Kerry Fuqua offered the reading from the Old Testament, Jenny McIsaac read from the New Testament, Frank McIsaac the General Intercesions, and Tom and Mary Mullaney brought the gifts forward. Charles "Chuck" McIsaac read the eulogy. A reception followed the Mass in St. Mary's Parish Hall.
Interment in Jones Cemetery, Orange, was private.
Witty's Funeral Home, Orange, directed the arrangements.

ATHOL - Funeral services for Naomi B. (Buckley) Ferris, 75, formerly of Athol, who died Sept. 12, 2003 in the Silver Lake Center, Bristol, Penn., were held Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Rev. Fr. James Callahan officiated. The organist was Theresa Gabis. Those taking part in the funeral Mass were: Readings by Mark Ellis, son; a poem was read by Heidi Hamel, and a song was sung by Danielle Ellis, both granddaughters.
Burial followed at Gethsemane Cemetery. The bearers were Steven Boudreau, Erin Boudreau, Nathaniel Ellis, John Ellis, Corey Ellis and MacKenzie Ellis.
The J. Edward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ann T. Wood
Devoted To Family
ATHOL - Ann T. Wood, 78, formerly of Athol, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003 at her home in Milford, Conn.
She was born on June 28, 1925 in Athol, daughter of the late Bronislaw and Veronica (Modzele) Karluk. She resided in Connecticut, where she lived in Milford and Easton.
She will always be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include four children: Karlene of Milford, Harold of Ridgefield, Susan of Fitzwilliam, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Gregory, Matthew and Katrina; one great - granddaughter, New Jersey. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Ave., Milford, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
The Commerce Hill - Radozycki Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport, Conn. (on the Trumbull line) is entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Washington, D.C. 20017, or to the donor's choice.

ORANGE - A Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, Sept. 18, in St. Mary's Church for E. Jane (Richards) (Preece) Vorce, 80, formerly of 50 Hamilton Ave., who died on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003 at the Wachusett Extended Care in Holden. The Rev. Fr. William Lunney officiated. Theresa Bergquist was the cantor and Donald "Spin" Ainsworth was the oganist. Interment followed in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. The pallbearers were Brian Preece, Shawn Preece, Mark Preece, Colin Preece, David Preece, and Guy Preece. A reception followed the committial service at St. Mary's Parish Hall. Witty's Funeral Home, Orange, directed the arrangements.

ATHOL - Funeral services for Eva J. (Bissel) Horrigan, 84, of 383 East River St., Orange were held Thursday, Sept. 18, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Immaculate Church. The Rev. Stephen D. Johnson, Pastor, celebrated the Liturgy. The organist was Theresa Gabis. Burial was in Silver Lake Cemetery. The bearers were, Daniel Bissel, Steven Bissel, Donald Sandos and Jeremy Jeffers. Fiske Funeral Home directed arrangements.

TURNERS FALLS - Irene F. (Stone) Miner, 72, of 37 O Street, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003 at the Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.
Lois N. Dunbar
Lab Technician
PHILLIPSTON - Lois N. (Paige) Dunbar, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, of 185 Ward Hill Rd., died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at the Lachance Center in Gardner.
She was born in Rindge, Florida for many years and since 1986 has resided in Phillipston with her daughter and son - in - law Suzanne and Alan Hooley.
She worked as a lab technician for the University of OH, three grandchildren, Richard Thibeault, Jr., and his wife Susan of Phillipston, Christopher Thibeault and his wife Darlene of Athol, Eric Kajca and his wife Melissa of Richlands, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m., at Central Congregational Church of New Salem, South Main Street, New Salem, with the Rev. Stanley Dahlman, interim pastor officiating.
There are no calling hours and burial for both Elbridge and Lois will follow in Center Cemetery, New Salem.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to: Swift River Valley Historical Society, c/o Helen Towne, 12 Sargent St., Belchertown, MA 01007.
