ATHOL - Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003 at Witty's Funeral Home in Orange for Frank P. Cara, 87, 26 Earl Drive, who died on Friday, Sept. 12, 2003 at his home after an illness. The Rev. Fr. William Lunney of St. Mary's Church in Orange officiated.
Interment will be private.
A reception was held at the Caras' home in Athol.
Witty's Funeral Home, Orange, directed the arrangements.
Roy W. Wandell
Military Veteran
SCARBOROUGH, MAINE - Roy W. Wandell, 78, formerly of 17 Webster Rd. in Lisbon, Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY on Aug. 22, 1925, a son of Roy Charles and Florence (Judd) Wandell.
He was educated in Brooklyn, NY schools and was a lifelong resident of this community, living for a brief time in Athol, Mass.
Mr. Wandell was a military veteran having served his country in the 106th Infantry Division of the Army at the Battle of the Buldge during WW II. While in the Army, he was recognized for his bravery and heroism as he received a Silver Star, four Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.
After the service he spent many years working as a building contractor spending most of those years in commercial construction.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, VFW Post 9459 in Lisbon and American Legion Post 158 also in Lisbon. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and target shooting.
He leaves a daughter, Vera E. Wandell of Peekskill, NY; a son, Roy of Lisbon; two grandchildren, Roy J. Wandell and Amber Wandell; and a sister, Elizabeth Nielsen and husband, Theodore of Highland Falls, NY. He was predeceased by a sister, Florence Zimmerman of Shrub Oak, NY.
Graveside committal prayers will be said at the New Maine; two granddaughters, Amy Linn of Denver, Calif.; one brother, Eugene F. Bissel and his wife Alyce of Beverly; and many nephews and nieces. A sister, Lillian V. Suchenicz of Holyoke, predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, from the Fiske Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church.
Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of one's choice.
Guimond Services
ORANGE - On Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, Allan A. Guimond, 59, of 187 Daniel Shays Hwy., who died on Aug. 5, 2003, took one last ride to his final resting place at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Templeton.
He arrived on his 100th Anniversary Heritage Harley Davidson motorcycle. Accompanying him on the ride were his sons, Allan L. Guimond and Michael A. Guimond. Joining them at the cemetery for a private service were his wife of 41 years, Marjorie (Hurd) Guimond, his son, Mark T Guimond, and his daughters, Tammy Guimond and Shelley Haley. Also attending the committal service were some close friends and family members, along with 15 of his fellow bikers.
Munro Services
ATHOL - Funeral services for Lawrence F. Munro, 90, formerly of Euclid Street, were held Monday, Sept. 15, 2003 at the Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold V. Lloyd, Jr., pastor of Athol Congregational Church officiating. Several members of Lawrence's church family shared memories.
Burial followed at the East Street Cemetery in Petersham and the bearers were: Tom Doody, Luke Doody, David Harris, Tom O'Connor, Ron Fournier and Robert Lane.
MacIsaac Services
ORANGE - A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, 19 Congress St., on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003 for Mary D. (McGiuggan) MacIsaac, 95, of 180 Athol Rd., who died on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003 at the Atrium Rxtended Care in South Middleboro.
Private interment will be in Jones Cemetery.

Irving J. Donahue Jr.
Philanthropist, Businessman
SHREWSBURY - Irving James (Jim) Donahue, Jr., 81, of Shrewsbury, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus. He was chairman of Donahue Industries and with his wife gave generously to local organizations and schools.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Barbara May (Grant) Donahue raised in Athol; two daughters, Susan E. (Donahue) Falzoi, wife of Thomas A. Falzoi of Shrewsbury, and Judith L. Donahue of Shrewsbury; and three grandchildren, Laurie K. Falzoi of Brookline, Debra S. Falzoi of Worcester and Curtis J. Falzoi of Los Angeles. Mr. Donahue was born in Shrewsbury, son of Irving James Donahue and Ethel (Larson) Donahue, and lived here his entire life.
He graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1940 and from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1944. He served in the United States Navy in World War II, after being commissioned at the U.S. Naval Academy. He graduated from Harvard Business School in 1948.
His involvement in the community predates his work as head of Donahue Industries. He was a selectman from 1953 to 1968. He helped bring Selectman - Town Manager and Representative Town Meeting form of government to Shrewsbury in 1954. He served on the Shrewsbury Finance Committee for nine years. He was a former chairman of the board of Worcester Memorial Hospital, a former trustee of WPI, past director of the Worcester Area Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of the Lake Quinsigamond Commission, past president of the Central Massachusetts League of Cities and Towns and past director of the Washington state; his mother and father, James J. and Susan (Leblanc of Fitchburg; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was born in Fitchburg in June 27, 1980 and lived in Lunenburg and Fitchburg for most of his life. He attended Notre Dame High School in Fitchburg and graduated from Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School in 1998 from the Drafting Technology Program. Throughout high school Eric was an active member of the United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol. Realizing his life's work by age 15, he completed Para Rescue Organization Course at Kirkland Air Force Base in New Mexico. He also graduated from the United States Coast Guard Basic Training, Cape May, N.J. in 1998. From there he served from September of 1998 to April of 2003 in Alaska. There he served on a small Search and Rescue boat directly resulting in eight lives being saved. He was awarded the Coast Guard Achievement Medal on Oct. 2, 2000. Petty Officer Bourque's other assignments included the USCGC Acushnet, the Long Range Aid Station in St. Paul, Ala., and most recently in USCGC William Tate in Philadelphia, Penn.
Eric lived every day with zest, humor and a strong sense of family. He lived his life to the fullest each day, leaving no dream unchallenged.
Arrangements entrusted to the Lavery - Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg with calling hours on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. Full Military Honors will be presented at a graveside service on Friday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. in St. Bernard's Cemetery on 4th Ave.
