ATHOL - Funeral services for Yola Calvi, 90, of 51 Hospital Rd., Baldwinville, formerly of Athol, were held Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, in the Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold V. Lloyd, Jr., pastor of Athol Congregational Church officiating.
Burial was in Highland Cemetery and the bearers were: J. Philip Calvi, Roger Gardner, Ronald Fournier, Robert Lane, Larry Barnes and Daniel Superchi.
Thelma E. Hunt
WINCHENDON - Thelma E. (Floyd) Hunt, 92, of 151 Spring St., died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 in the Life Care Center of Action after a long illness.

Retired Hospital Worker
ORANGE - Pauline V. (Barrett) Shepardson, 82, of 383 East River St., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003 in her home after being stricken ill.
Born in Athol on June 26, 1921, a daughter of Walter L. and Bessie J. (Hervey) Barrett, she grew up in Athol, later moving to Orange where she lived most of her life.
She worked at the Worcester State Hospital, Worcester, 10 years before retiring in 1981. Previously she had been employed many years at the former Torrington Company. After retiring she worked briefly as a school bus driver in Athol and Orange.
She enjoyed Friday afternoon tea parties and her family.
Her hobbies included macrame, crocheting and quilting.
She leaves two sons, David Shepardson of Orange and Michael Shepardson and wife Holly of Tewksbury; a daughter, Beverly Blood and husband, Raymond of Spring Hill, Fla.; a brother, Norman Barrett of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a sister, Abbie Johnson of Athol; seven grandchildren, W. Raymond Shepardson and wife, Ruth of Luretto, Tenn., Lynn Hains and husband Timothy of Gardner, Cynthia Doyle and husband, Steven of Orange, Karen Shepardson of Orange, Susan Baldic and husband, Dennis of Spring Hill, Fla., Edward Lightkep III and Richard Lightkep both of Spring Hill, Fla.; nine great grandchildren, William, Timothy and Tia Hains of Gardner, Meghan and Sean Doyle of Orange, Jason Baldic, Elizabeth Cordona and husband, Samuel, Eric Lightkep and Katelynn Lightkep all of Spring Hill, Fla; two great greatgrandchildren, Alexander Cordona and Samuel Cordona, both of Spring Hill, Fla.; several nephews and nieces including Marilyn Johnson of Orange.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 20 at 10:30 a.m. in Witty's Funeral Home. The Rev. Barbara Seamon of the Central Congregational Church will officiate.
Private bural will be in South Cemetery.
There will be a calling hour from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday before the service.

John M. Paparazzi Sr.
Veteran, Shop Owner
ERVING - John M. Paparazzi, Sr, 81, of Mountain Rd., died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003 unexpectedly in his home after being stricken ill.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, on Nov. 20, 1921, a son of Frank and Rapheal (Napadano) Paparazzi, he grew up in Brooklyn and lived there many years.
A United States Army Veteran of World War II, he served in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre with the 756th Bomb Squad. He was awarded the European Campaign Medal and Ribbon with a Silver and two Bronze Service Stars., World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Service Badge and American Campaign Medal.
He moved from Long Island to Northfield in 1968 where he and his wife operated a general store and antique shop, later coming to Erving in 1986. While living in New York City; a brother, Dominick Paparazzi of Inverness, Fla.; a sister, Rose Giordano of Stoneham; several nephews and nieces.
At his request there are no funeral services.

NEW SALEM - Graveside services were held on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 in the North New Salem Cemetery for Robert E. Nelson, 85, of 222 North Main St., who passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol. The Rev. Stanley Dahlman of Northfield officiated. John "Spider" Smith, Department Surgeon of the American Legion Department of N.H.; three sisters, Phyllis I. Nye of Woburn, Gail Archambault of Belchertown and Irene F. Knutson of Peabody and seven grandchildren.

Former Member Of Jumptown Twirlers
ORANGE - Arlene L. "Teenie" (Baldwin) Austin, 87, formerly of Warwick Rd., died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, in the Blackstone Nursing Home, Blackstone.
Born in Irasburg, Vt. Feb. 21, 1916, a daughter of Raleigh and Susie (Page) Baldwin, she grew up in Vermont and graduated from Orleans (Vt.) High School in 1935.
She moved to Orange in 1953 where she worked several years as a clerk at the former Leavitt's Market.
A square dancer for many years, she was a former member of the Jumptown Twirlers. She had an enthusastic sense of humor, enjoyed cooking, homemaking and raising plants. Before moving to Blackstone three years ago she lived at King James Court.
Her husband, Richard F. Austin, died in 1992, a son, Terry Macomber died in 1996 and her daughter, Vicki Sinclair died in 2000.
She leaves a son, Peter Austin of Barkhamstead, Conn.; two sisters, Dorothy Bowman of Orleans, Vt. and Frances Pudvah of Hardwick, Vt.; seven grandchildren; eight great - grandchildren; several nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 11:15 a.m. in South Cemetery. The Rev. Vance E. Frank will officiate.
There will be a calling hour from 10 to 11 a.m. at Witty's Funeral Home.
