WILLIAMSPORT - Joan Flock Hamilton, 65, formerly of 16827 Hampton Road, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born May 1, 1932, in Cook County, Ill., she was the daughter of Irene A. Flock of Naperville, Fla., and the late Bernard J. Flock.
She received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Baltimore.
She retired in 1996 from the Maryland Correctional Institution near Hagerstown, where was a counselor.
She attended St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Williamsport.
She was an accomplished equestrian.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Karen Jude Hamilton Bodine of Williamsport, and Joselyn Marie Hamilton Marquis of Baltimore; three sons, Cyril "Chris" Steven Hamilton of Hagerstown, Mark Joseph Hamilton of Wilton, Conn., and Timothy Damien Hamilton of Baltimore; one sister, Mary MacDonald of Yellow Springs, Ohio; two brothers, Donald Flock of Naples, Fla., and Richard Flock of Schallstadt, Germany; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Frank Joseph Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Bernard J. Flock Jr.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Alfred E. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.

Quentin A. Naugle
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Quentin A. Naugle, 50, of 50 Eisenhower Drive, Chambersburg, died Tuesday June 3, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born July 31, 1946, he was the son of Janet Mills Naugle of Chambersburg and the late Lloyd H. Naugle.
He was a graduate of Chambersburg High School, class of 1964.
He was a special project manager at Sprint/United Telephone Co. in Carlisle, Pa., where he worked for 29 years.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Marion United Methodist Church, Marion, Pa.
He was a Chambersburg Borough Council member representing the third ward from 1983 to 1991. He was a member of George Washington Lodge 143 F&AM, Chambersburg; Harrisburg Consistory of Harrisburg, Pa.; past president of Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club and a member of its Timberline Sporting Clays. He also was a member of Greencastle Sportsman Club; a life member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Chambersburg; post member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, Chambersburg; and the National Rifle Association.
He had been a hunting safety instructor.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sandra Fratscher Naugle, whom he married Oct. 17, 1976; four daughters, Shari L. Seilhamer of St. Thomas, Pa., Beth A. Cuff of Fort Loudon, Pa., Lisa M. Martz of Philadelphia and Michelle L. Naugle of Chambersburg; one son, Jeffrey A. Naugle of Gettysburg, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Marion United Methodist Church, Colorado Street, Marion, Pa. The Rev. John A. Ile Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 pm. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m., at the church.

Wilhelm E. Braun
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Wilhelm E. Braun, 92, of Windbrier Retirement Home and formerly of 423 Oley St. and 1026 Franklin St., Reading, Pa., died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born May 14, 1905, in Reutingen, Germany, he was the son of the late Heinrich and Mary Kitteberger Braun.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katharina Ibel Braun, on March 16, 1991.
He had been a cutter in the textile industry in the Reading area, and had been a resident of the Waynesboro area for the past two years.
He was a member of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church in Reading, Pa.
He is survived by one son, Kurt E. Braun of Washington Township; one brother, Erwin Braun of Reutingen, Germany; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church in Reading. Burial will be in Gethesemane Cemetery, Laureldale, Pa.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 8 to 9 a.m. at the John P. Feeney Funeral Home, 625 N. Fourth St., Reading, Pa.

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Ernest Lawrence Rudy, 89, formerly of 3113 Old National Pike, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Frederick Healthcare Center.
Born Dec. 3, 1907, in Middletown, he was the son of the late Lawrence F. and Emma Remsburg Rudy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Wiles Rudy, in 1985.
He had been a farmer in the Middletown area. He retired in 1971 from Farmers Cooperative Association after 25 years. He and his wife operated Rudy's Motel west of Middletown from 1952 to 1964.
He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn F. Stine of Frederick, Md.; one son, Fred W. Rudy of Middletown; one sister, Frances Slifer of Middletown; one brother, Robert Rudy of Mapleville, Md.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ernestine Carey; one granddaughter, Lois Moore; and three brothers, Glen Rudy, Ralph Rudy and Richard Rudy.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Alessio Cerri, 78, of 143 Mt. Union Road, Fayetteville, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa..
Born Sept. 27, 1918, in Milan, Italy, he was the son of the late Battista and Domenica Pozzoli Cerri.
He had been employed for 13 years with Valley Baking Co. He retired in 1981 from Giant Foods.
He served with the military during World War II. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg. He was a member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Rickrode Cerri; one son, Anthony J. Cerri of Newport News, Va.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Richard R. Rosel, 28, of 172 Colonial Drive, in Chambersburg, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born July 31, 1968, in New York City, he was the son of Dr. Romeo C. and Remedios Razon Rosel of Chambersburg.
He was a graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and was attending the University of Pittsburgh, in Johnstown, Pa.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg.
He was a member of Acacia Fraternity at the University of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Rachael Rosel and Rowena Rosel both of Kutztown, Pa.; and one brother, Ronald R. Rosel of Chambersburg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. Monsignor Thomas R. Brenner will be celebrant. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery, Chambersburg.

Gerald Conrad "Jerry" Staley Jr., 48, of 15 Emmert Road, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at his home.
Born June 29, 1948, in Harrisburg, Pa., he was the son of Jean Austin Staley Fletcher of Hagerstown and the late Gerald C. Staley.
He was employed at Electromet of Hagerstown.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Benedict Staley of Hagerstown; one daughter, Brenda Staley, at home; two sons, Gerald S. Staley III of Hagerstown and Mark Staley of Boonsboro; and two granddaughters.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Hilda Brown Saville, 72, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at her home.
Born Sept. 25, 1924, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late James Childers and Jennie Eshleman Childers Morgret.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph William Brown, and her second husband, Boyd Herman Saville.
She retired from Perfection Garment Co. after 27 years of service.
She is survived by one son, Larry W. Brown of Billings, Mont.; one daughter, Doris B. Avey of Martinsburg; two sisters, Waneda Jerischeid of Sayerville, N.J., and Margaret Smith of Hagerstown; two brothers, Raymond Childers and Henry Childers, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elma L. Brown; one son, Hartley E. Brown; six sisters, Helen Burton, Minnie Cowgill, Gertrude Cable, Mary Weir, Hazel Childers and Genevieve Peck; four brothers, Gilbert Childers, Frank Childers, Ernest Childers and Harry Childers.

Born May 19, 1926, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Sylvia Irene Bowers Ardinger.
She retired from Maryland Ribbon Co. in 1988 after 22 years.
She was a member of Grace Brethren Church.
She was a member of National Audubon Society and Conococheague Naturalists.
She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Green Sr.; one daughter, Anna Gay Green Miner of Boonsboro; one son, Robert B. Green Jr. of Hagerstown; one sister, Ruth M. Mills of Williamsport; one brother, John E. Ardinger of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Louise Green and Beverly Lou Green; two sisters, Helen Reed and Mary Louise Ardinger; and two brothers, Ralph Ardinger and Kermit Ardinger.

LA MESA, Calif. - Clarence T. Daub Sr., 86, of 5353 Baltimore Drive, La Mesa, died Friday, May 30, 1997, at his home.
Born Sept. 2, 1910, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Clarence E. and Bessie R. Steiger Daub.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Myers Daub, on Sept. 16, 1994.
He was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy, in Mercersburg, Pa., and Princeton University in Princeton, N.J. He had been employed as a psychologist at a state hospital in Nebraska.
He is survived by two sons, Clarence T. "Ted" Daub Jr., of San Diego, Calif., and John Daub of Temecula, Calif.; one brother Lee Daub of Washington, D.C.; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, at 11:30 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. The Rev. Michael K. Miller will officiate.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - George William Aikens, 85, of Charles Town, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.
Born March 18, 1912, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late John N. and Martha Tederick Aikens.
His wife, Lottie Lee Whittington Aikens, died in 1989.
He retired from W.D. Byron Tannery in Williamsport, where he was a guard.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by four daughters, Phyllis Kelley and Beverly Donaldson, both of Hedgesville, W.Va., Nancy Duke of Charles Town, W.Va., and Janet Emery of Arizona; one son, John M. Aikens of Hedgesville; five sisters, Catherine Noll and Ella Knighten, both of Martinsburg, W.Va., Louise Albert of Pennsylvania, Annabel Smith of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and Tiny Temple of Louisiana; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Goodloe
SHARPTOWN, Md. - Dorothy Goodloe of Sharptown, died Saturday, May 31, 1997, at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton, Md.
Born in Sharptown, she was the daughter of the late William and Vicie Brown.
Her husband, Carey Goodloe, died in 1969. Her second husband, the Rev. L.E. Dorsey, died in 1961.
She retired from Washington County Board of Education in Hagerstown, where she taught school for 32 years.
She then taught in the New York Public School System until she retired, after which she substituted for years.
She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Sharptown, later transferring her membership to Bethel United Methodist Church in Hagerstown; and Broadway United Methodist Church in New York City. She served the New Market Charge, Buckeystown Charge and Knoxville Charge of the United Methodist Church.
She was a member of Maryland Teachers Association, National Education Association, Washington County Teachers Association, Maryland Retired Teachers Association, and New York Retired Teachers Association. She also was a former member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority in Maryland and New York.
She is survived by one sister, Omega Watkins of Indianapolis; one brother, Clifton Brown of Annapolis; two grandsons, Carl Goodloe and Carey Goodloe, both of New York City; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Lionel Goodloe.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church in Sharptown. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Joe W. Ausherman
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Joe W. Ausherman, 70, of 7811 Lyons Farm Road, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born Dec. 20, 1926, in Fayetteville, Pa., he was the son of the late Thomas L. and Ruth W. Wilkinson Ausherman.
He graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1945. He attended Chambersburg Business College and real estate schools.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed in Italy with the 88th Infantry Division.
He was a former member of Chambersburg Presbyterian Church, where he held church offices. He was a member of Waynesboro Presbyterian Church.
He owned Ausherman Brothers Real Estate, Waynesboro, from 1948 to 1995. He was Chairman of the Franklin County Board of Commissioners from 1960 to 1968, and was a Franklin County Commissioner from 1983 to 1992.
He was on the board of directors of Citizens National Bank and Trust Co., Waynesboro.
He was a member of the Franklin County Board of Realtors, the Pennsylvania Realtors Association, and the National Association of Realtors. He was a licensed Pennsylvania and Maryland real estate broker. He was a consultant designate of the American Association of Certified Appraisers, and was senior certified valuer of the International Institute of Valuers.
He was a member of Waynesboro Hospital board of managers, and was board president for six years. He was a member of Waynesboro Lions Club, and was two-term chairman for Zone 14-C. He was a director of Waynesboro Red Cross for a number of years, and was president for two years. He was president of the Community Chest Board, now the United Way, for one year. He was United Way campaign chairman for one year.
He was a member of Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce, and was president and board member. He was on the advisory board of the Small Business Administration. In 1982, he was director of Shared Mobile Systems of the Waynesboro, Chambersburg, Gettysburg and Hanover Hospitals. He helped start the Waynesboro Industrial Development Corp., serving many years as director and vice president. He was chairman of the Franklin County Bicentennial Board and served on advisory boards throughout Franklin County.
He also was a member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695; BPO Elks 731; Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15; Acacia Lodge 586, F&AM, all of Waynesboro; Waynesboro Shrine Club; George Washington Royal Arch Chapter 176; Continental Commandery 56; Knights Templar; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg; Zembo Temple AAONMS, Harrisburg; 88th Infantry Division Association; National Rifle Assocation; Narrows Gunning & Game Protective Association, McConnellsburg; and Waynesboro Fish and Game Association.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn A. Aughinbaugh Ausherman, whom he married July 31, 1948; one daughter, Carol R. Henicle of Waynesboro; one son, Paul W. Ausherman of East Petersburg, Pa.; one sister, Jean Auginbaugh of Denver, Pa.; one grandson; one stepgranddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Ocker; and one brother, Tom W. Ausherman.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Charles B. Jessen will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

Richard Nelson Churchey, 73, of 116 Devonshire Road, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 16, 1924, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Luther I. and Irene Lewis Churchey.
He was employed by Baker's Driveaway for 48 years.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II with the 29th Division, Company B.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of the 29th Division Association Post 8, and Company B Club, 29th Division, 115th Infantry; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 212 and was junior governor, Hagerstown; Red Men Conococheague Tribe 84; Teamsters Union Local 992; and member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2462 of Williamsport.
He is survived by his wife, Ida May "Betty" Churchey; two daughters, Rose Moats of Keedysville, and Theresa Flook of Hagerstown; two sons, Edward Nelson "Oscar" Churchey of Hagerstown and Robert Eugene "Bob" Churchey of Hancock; two sisters, Kathleen Benedict and Shirley Myers, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, Charles "Jack" Churchey and John "Buck" Churchey, both of Hagerstown; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Paul "Pee Wee" Churchey; one sister, Irene Sutten; three brothers, Robert Churchey, Donald Churchey and John Zepp Jr.; and one grandson.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Bryan R. Bailey, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by American Legion Morris Frock Post 42.

Mary Margaret Craig, 81, of Avalon Manor, 14014 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born March 10, 1916, in Bellefonte, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Jane Kane McCulley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Russell Craig.
She was a retired employee of Bellefonte Public School System.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jane Keating Pappas of Hagerstown; and two granddaughters, Lori Beth Warner of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Jennifer Mary Jane Pappas of Williamsport.

Born May 4, 1923, in Harrisburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Chester M. and Florence R. Urich Wilt.
He had been employed at Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, W.Va., and formerly was an engineer with Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.

He was a volunteer at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va., a member of RSVP and a member of Senior Citizen Center in Ranson.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Ruth Broyles Wilt; one daughter, Ruth Ann Shireman of Middletown, Pa.; one son, Gary M. Wilt of Santa Rosa, Calif; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Lee Wilt.
Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Grace E. Steele
Grace Elizabeth Steele, 84, of 3632 N.W. 25th Ave., Okeechobee, Fla., and formerly of Hagerstown, died Friday, June 6, 1997, at Columbia Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee.
Born April 19, 1913, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry P. Willey Sr.
She was prceded in death by her husband, Dwight L. Steele, who died in 1967.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Okeechobee, where she directed and sang in the choir for many years. She also was active in the church and served on many committees.
She is survived by a foster daughter, Genevieve K. Geney Martin of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Dwight W. Steele and Robert E. Steele; and one brother, Harry P. Willey Jr.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., in Hagerstown. The Rev. George A. Limmer will officiate.
There will be no viewing.

Frieda K. Thornburg
HIGH POINT, N.C. - Frieda Kiracofe Thornburg, 89, a resident of Wellspring Retirement Community in Greensboro, N.C., and formerly of Archdale, N.C., died Thursday, June 5, 1997, at her residence.
Born Jan. 8, 1908, in Washington County, she was the daugher of the late Elmer and Mayalda Fox Kiracofe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Carson Thornburg, who died in 1978.
She was a graduate of John Hopkins School of Nursing in Baltimore and was head nurse of the Pediatric Center of Johns Hopkins Hospital.
She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in High Point, where she also served on the Altar Guild.
She is survived by one daughter, Kristin Galloway of Breckenridge, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Lisa Kristin Galloway and Ryan Carson Galloway.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in High Point. The Rev. Glenn E. Busch will officiate. Burial will be in Science Hill Friends Meeting Cemetery in Randolph County.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.
