Leslie L. Wright
PRESTON - Leslie Liemore Wright, 97, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton.
He was born Oct. 31, 1906 in Preston, the son of the late Fred and Lula Wright.
He retired in 1965 from Hanks Seafood and had done the mail route for Prettyman's.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Louise Plutschak Wright, whom he married on June 10, 1938, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wright was preceded in death by three brothers, Carlton Wright, Earl Wright, and Ellsworth Wright.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg, with the Rev. Joan Wolff officiating. Burial will follow in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday.
Kathleen S. Mowbray
CAMBRIDGE - Kathleen S. Mowbray, 89, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born on Taylors Island on Jan. 27, 1915 and was the daughter of the late Milton J. Shenton Sr. and Lavenia Burton Shenton.
Mrs. Mowbray graduated from Cambridge High School in 1932. In 1946, she married the late Charles W. Mowbray.
For many years, she and her husband owned and operated the Cambridge Cleaners on High Street. In later years, she worked as a saleslady at Richardson's Style Shop on Race Street for Frances Waldron, a dear friend for many years.
She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Cambridge for many years. She was very active in the United Methodist Women and the Ruth Stewart Circle of the church. Mrs. Mowbray served on the Administrative Board and as a Circle Leader.
She was an active member of Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by a brother, Jerome Shenton and his wife Madeline of Cambridge; two sisters-in-law, Peggy B. Shenton of Cambridge and Anna Belle Mowbray of Cambridge; four nieces, Darlene Spangler of Charleston W.Va., Margaret Ann Leonard of Trappe, Lucille M. Willey of Cambridge, Ellen M. Hill of Mt. Dora, Fla.; two nephews, Barry R. Shenton of Richmond, Va. and Charles H. Kulp of Naples, Fla.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Milton M. Shenton, who passed away in July of 2000.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Kevin E. English officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.

Anthony L. Thompson
CAMBRIDGE - Anthony Lamont "Gus" Thompson, 48, passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at Dorchester General Hospital.
He was born Sept. 12, 1956 in Cambridge, the son of James and Mattie Thompson Sr. He attended the public schools of Dorchester County and was a graduate of Cambridge High School, Class of 1974.
Gus, as he was called, was employed at Airpax Corp. for 29 years and held many positions, such as machinist and mold maker. He was also employed at WB Machining, Inc., Eastern Shore Paving, J. Neal Transport, Pritchett's Transportation, Club Platinum and was self-employed at GT Car Care detailing cars and lawn care. He was also co-founder of Mr. Groove and Company.
Mr. Thompson had many hobbies. He also loved sports, race cars, yard work and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline of Cambridge; daughters, Jakia Saunders, whom he raised as his own and Ashley Wongus of Easton; his parents of Cordtown; mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Audrey Jews George of Hurlock; sisters, Regina Wheatley (Carroll) of Glen Burnie, Diana Thompson of Hanover, Pa. and Gloria Jews of Baltimore; brothers, Wayne Thompson Sr. of Cambridge, James Thompson Jr. (Wendy) of Hurlock, J. Kennard Thompson (Brenda) of St. Michaels, Otis Cornish (Gwen) of Glen Burnie, Melvin Jews, Esq. of Cambridge and Mark Jews of Salisbury. Mr. Thompson is also survived by aunts and uncles, Lillie Mae Sampson, Louis Sampson (Ruth), Leonard Sampson (Marvel), Willie Sampson (Barbara), Frederick Sampson (Bernice), Delores Henry (Daniel), all of East New Market, Jacob Sampson (Doris) of Thompsontown, Mildred Symonette (Robert) of Vienna, Audrey Thompson and Romey Elliott, both of Cambridge and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethel AME Church in Cambridge. Burial will follow in Cordtown Cemetery.
There will be a viewing one-half an hour prior to the services, only.

Ilene V. Edwards
PRESTON - Ilene Viola Edwards, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 at the Peninsula Regional Hospital in Salisbury.
She was born May 8, 1929 in Dorchester County, daughter of the late Alonza and Willie Mae Crumble Fletcher.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Carl James Edwards on May 5, 1951.
Mrs. Edwards attended school in Dorchester County. Her early Christian life began at Johns M.E. Church, which later became Mt. Calvary.
She worked until her health began to fail. Her last place of employment was at Sea Watch in Easton.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Roland) Jones; one stepson, Frederick Hubbard Jr.; three grandchildren, Wynette (John) Warren of Immokalee, Fla., Ronald and Lutitia Fletcher of Hurlock; 10 great-grandchildren; two aunts, Audrey Hooper and Melva Hill; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Fletcher and Dorothy Fletcher; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ernestine Jenkins; four brothers, James, Irvin, Leroy and Alonza Jr.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Calvary UM Church in Preston. Burial will be in John's Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Mt. Calvary UM Church and two hours prior to the service on Saturday.
Arrangements are being handled by the Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Hurlock.
Janet D. Crevensten
EASTON - Janet D. Crevensten, 88, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton.
She was born July 24, 1916 in Baltimore, the daughter of the late William H. and Helen Wilson DeWolff.
Mrs. Crevensten graduated from Forest Park High School in Baltimore. On July 24, 1945 she married James Olin Crevensten who passed away on July 9, 1981.
Mrs. Crevensten moved to Cambridge in 1948 and was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing golf and was an avid bridge player. She was a member of the AARP.
Mrs. Crevensten is survived by a daughter, Jane C. Phillips and her husband, Thomas of Fishing Creek and several cousins.
A committal service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery near Hurlock with the Rev. Denzil T. Cheek officiating.

Daisy L. Donovan
FEDERALSBURG - Daisy Lily Donovan, 96, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 at Ruxton Health of Denton.
She was born Aug. 19, 1908 near Federalsburg, the daughter of the late Woodrow and May Bradley Handy. Her first husband, Elwood J. Donovan Sr. preceded her in death in 1982.
She was a homemaker. Mrs. Donovan was a founding member of the New Liberty Wesleyan Church near Federalsburg, and for many years she served as treasurer and secretary and had taught Sunday School.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Donovan; five children, Gladys D. Auld of Seaford, Melvin W. "Bud" Donovan of Federalsburg, Jane Joseph of Bridgeville, Del., Robert L. "Bobby" Donovan of Bridgeville, and Darlene Beauchamp of Federalsburg; 29 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; two stepsons, James Donovan of Federalsburg and Wayne Donovan of Kansas City, Kan.; a stepdaughter, Jean Gray of Federalsburg; 11 step-grandchildren, 37 stepgreat-grandchildren, several stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Three children, Elwood J. Donovan Jr., Katherine May Burklew and Sewell Edwin Donovan, and three grandchildren, Melvin "Chip" Donovan Jr., Joseph Donovan, and Judy Darlene Sammons, all preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the New Liberty Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Tim Wilson and the Rev. Mark Donovan officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the church on Saturday one-hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Liberty Wesleyan Church, 28418 Bridgeville Road, Federalsburg, MD 21632.

Ruth H. Phillips
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ruth Henrietta Phillips, 86, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at the Westminster Thurber Retirement Community in Columbus.
She was born July 24, 1918 in Baltimore, a daughter of the late Harry and Edna W. Phillips.
Miss Phillips was a graduate of the Maryland State Teachers' College at Towson, Johns Hopkins University and also Columbia University.
Miss Phillips served as a librarian for more than 30 years in several states as well as in Japan. She was director of the Bexley, Ohio Public Library from January of 1974 until she retired in August of 1981.
Miss Phillips' retirement volunteer activities included docent, Columbus Museum of Art; reader, Central Ohio Radio Reading Service; various assignments at Mt. Carmel Medical Center and Westminster Thurber Retirement Community.
She was a member of the King Avenue United Methodist in Columbus.
Miss Phillips is survived by two cousins, Robert C. Phillips of Eastville, Va. and Donald L. Phillips of Dover, Del.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the East New Market Cemetery with the Rev. Greyson Atha officiating.
