Eugene Slocum
Eugene Slocum, 74, a resident of Annapolis for 52 years and previously of Newark, N.J., died March 25, 2002 at Future Care Chesapeake in Arnold.
Mr. Slocum was born in Newark, N.J. and served in the Navy as a petty officer 3rd class, retiring in 1961.
He then was employed as a civilian by the Naval Academy.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Alice Slocum; his son, Eugene R. Slocum of Annapolis; four daughters, Yvonne R. Slocum-Spencer, Carolyn D. Hall, Elizabeth H. Slocum and Antoinette Slocum, all of Annapolis; his brother, Kenneth Slocum of Santa Fe, Calif.; his sister, Janette Hill of East Orange, N.J.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, with the Christian wake from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Reese and Sons Mortuary, 821 West St. in Annapolis. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at the Maryland Veterans cemetery in Crownsville.
Carol Adams
Carol S. Adams, 67, of Crofton and formerly of Gambrills, died of heart failure March 28, 2002 at North Arundel Hospital.
Mrs. Adams was born Nov. 19, 1934, in Quinby, Va., and was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and knitting.
Her husband, Melvin D. Adams, died in 1990.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon A. Groves and Kim Adams of Crofton; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, where services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Lakemont cemetery in Davidsonville.
Daniel Hollywood
Daniel M. Hollywood, 45, a native and lifelong resident of Annapolis, died of cancer March 28, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born Sept. 11, 1956, Mr. Hollywood owned his own contracting company for more than 24 years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and coached girls' lacrosse with the Annapolis Department of Recreation and Parks. He loved boating and was a crew member of the Chesterpeake, a boat operated by the National Brewing Co.
Surviving are one daughter, Elizabeth Ashley Hollywood of Annapolis; two brothers, Michael Alan Hollywood of Annapolis and Timothy Denis Hollywood of Chino Hills, Calif.; three sisters, Maryland Hollywood Wilson of Annapolis, Brigid Hollywood Poole of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Amy Maria Hollywood of Hanover, N.H.; and his fiancee, Sevaste Phillips of Edgewater.
He was the brother of the late Joseph Frances Hollywood.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Sadie Hoyle
Sadie Madeline Hoyle, 84, a resident of Mayo for 50 years, died March 28, 2002 at the Crofton Convalescent Center after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Hoyle was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Eastport, and attended Eastport Elementary School. She worked at the former Naval Experimental Station during World War II and then became a homemaker.
She was a member of the ladies auxiliaries of American Legion Post 226 in Mayo and Annapolis Elks Lodge 622. She enjoyed bowling and playing bingo.
In November 1949 she married
Milton C. Hoyle Sr. who died Feb. 1, 1982.
Surviving are one son, Milton Hoyle Jr. of Davidsonville; one daughter, Margaret Bell-Ocfemia of Ridge in St. Mary's County; one brother, George R. Rawlings of Norwalk, Calif.; one sister, Ethel Poirer of Edgewater; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Stanley Kohls
Stanley Fred "Stan" Kohls, 82, of Stevensville, died March 28, 2002 at The Pines, Genesis ElderCare Network, in Easton after a brief illness.
Mr. Kohls was born in Grimes, Iowa, on Dec. 20, 1919, and educated in Iowa. During World War II he served in the Army and then the Air Force before his discharge in 1950.
He was a vending machine mechanic for G.B. Macke in Washington, D.C., before retiring.
A former resident of District Heights, he moved to York, Pa., and then to Stevensville with his wife, Nellie Mae Kohls, to live with a son, Joseph Warner.
Also surviving is another son, Robert Kohls of Springfield, Va.; two daughters, Darlene Bell of Zion, Ill., and Joanne Murphy of Golden Beach; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Road, Stevensville. Services will follow at 10 a.m. at the chapel at the Maryland Veterans cemetery in Crownsville followed by burial.
Mary Shinnamon
Mary Jane Shinnamon, 76, formerly of Kent Island, died of stroke-related causes March 28, 2002 at Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville.
The daughter of the late Edgar "Jeff" F. and Rosa Bailey Voelcker, Mrs. Shinnamon was born in Baltimore on June 7, 1925, and raised in Catonsville. She graduated from Catonsville High School in 1942 and then from Bard Avon Secretarial School in Baltimore.
She worked at Spring Grove Hospital for seven years, and was secretary to the late Dr. Isadore Tuerk for part of that time.
On Feb. 1, 1947, she married
Francis "Pete" Shinnamon of Catonsville where they lived until 1960. They then resided in Columbia until 1987 when they moved to Kent Island. In January the couple moved to Charlestown.
Mrs. Shinnamon was a member of Kent Island United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of Kent Island Yacht Club. She also was an avid duplicate bridge player and duckpin bowler.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Peter Shinnamon of Ashland, Va.; two daughters, Judith Masterson of Baltimore and Susan Lear of Mountain Lake Park; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. April 6 at Kent Island United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home in Chester.

Virginia Venette
Virginia Wimer "Ginny" Venette, 87, of Gambrills, died March 29, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. The cause of death is not available.
The daughter of the late George and Ada Wimer, Mrs. Venette was born June 28, 1914, in Rochester, N.Y., and was a resident of Gambrills for seven years.
She was a homemaker and member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Her interests included reading.
Her husband, Leo Joseph Venette, died in 1980.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Gasch of Gambrills, and one granddaughter.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville. Burial will be in White Haven cemetery in Pittsford, N.Y., at a later date.
