Edwin Grayson
Edwin Warren "Hank" Grayson, 20, of Davidsonville, died at the scene of an automobile accident April 28, 2002 on Aris T. Allen Boulevard near Riva Road.
Mr. Grayson was born April 8, 1982, in Cheverly. For three years he attended Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia where he served as a cadet lieutenant. He graduated from South River High School in 2001 and was a freshman at Anne Arundel Community College.
He was planning on joining the Marines. He enjoyed fishing, dirt biking, motorcycling and children.
Surviving are his parents, Edwin C. Grayson Jr. and Nancy Masano Grayson of Davidsonville and Carol Jordon Grayson of Glen Burnie; his brother, Brandon Grayson of Glen Burnie; and his grandparents, Martha and Warren Halle of Potomac, Patricia Dunigan of Laurel and George P. Mallonee Sr. of Catonsville.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Highway, Bowie. Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annapolis Road in Bowie. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Dorothy Hubbard
Dorothy Ewell "Jinx" Hubbard, 74, of Easton and formerly of Annapolis, died of an apparent heart attack April 29, 2002 at her home.
Born June 20, 1928, in New York, Mrs. Hubbard was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Grace Dolan Ewell. She attended school in New York, Florida, Ohio and Maryland, graduating from Seton High School in Baltimore in 1947.
While married
to William F. Hubbard Jr, of Cambridge, she lived in Chevy Chase.
She was a successful real estate agent in Annapolis prior to moving to Easton, where she was an active member of her church as a lector and Eucharistic minister. She also volunteered with the Talbot Hospice Association and delivered bread for the poor at Bethany Church in Easton.
Surviving are her mother, Mary S. Ewell of Cambridge; her children, William F. Hubbard III of North Wales, Pa., Jefferson Ewell Hubbard of Cambridge and Lisa A. Hubbard of Bowie; and four grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mary Elizabeth Ewell "Nikki" Taylor.
A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 215 Goldsborough St., Easton. Arrangements are by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home in Easton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 501 Dutchmans Lane, Easton, MD 21601.
Douglas Mast
Douglas Moody Mast, 58, of Severna Park and previously of Annapolis, died of heart failure April 24, 2002 while fishing alone on the Chesapeake Bay aboard the boat Free Lunch.
Mr. Mast was born in New York, N.Y., on April 7, 1944, and raised in Morristown, N.J. He graduated from St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School in Fitchburg, Mass., and received a bachelor's degree in restaurant management from the University of Denver in Colorado. He served in the Marine Corps.
Mr. Mast was the former owner of several restaurants in the Virgin Islands. He participated in the 1972 Summer Olympics as a member of a shooting team representing the Virgin Islands.
He worked in automotive sales and was last employed by BMW of Towson.
He held a professional captain's license and enjoyed fishing and boating. He also had a pilot's license and owned his own plane.
Mr. Mast loved to cook and read and was the owner of three dogs.
Surviving are his wife, Donna J. Mast, whom he married
July 4, 1999; his son, George Douglas Mast of Indianapolis, Ind.; his stepdaughter, Jennifer D. Buch of Lancaster, Calif.; his brother, Dr. Richard Mast of Michigan; his sister, Margaret Mast of Ocean City; and five grandchildren. He was the father of the late Ryan Mast.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 207 Giddings Ave., Severna Park, from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.

Mary Ida Turner
The date of death was incorrect in the obituary for Mary Ida Turner, 87, of Deale, on April 29, 2002.
Mrs. Turner died April 27 of complications of heart failure at Millennium Health and Rehabilitation Center at South River in Edgewater.
Genive Smith
Genive Smith, 79, of Prince Frederick, died of kidney failure April 28, 2002 at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick.
Mrs. Smith was born on July 17, 1922, in Prince Frederick. She was a homemaker and part-time domestic worker.
She was a member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church in Sunderland. She enjoyed spending time with her family and listening to gospel music.
The widow of Edward Smith, she is survived by four sons, Joseph Smith of Annapolis and Edward, Spike and Chester Smith of Prince Frederick; six daughters, Gladys Black of Washington, D.C., Algea Gray and Diane Smith of Baltimore, Roberta and Christine Smith of Annapolis and Bertha Fields of Prince Frederick. She was predeceased by another daughter, Dorothy Woodlawn.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Sewell Funeral Home, 1451 Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Hope United Methodist Church on Dalrymple Road in Sunderland. Services will follow and burial will be in the church cemetery.
John Wallace
Service arrangements for retired Navy Capt. John George Wallace, 83, a longtime resident of Annapolis, have been announced.
Capt. Wallace, who was awarded the Navy Cross for valor during World War II, died April 23, 2002 at the Meese-Dunedin Hospital in Dunedin, Fla., where he had recently moved.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Chapel at the Naval Academy.
Additional services will be at 10:45 a.m. May 21 at the Memorial Chapel at Fort Myers, Va., followed by burial in Arlington National Cemetery.
Mary Battaglia
Mary Louise Battaglia, 87, died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease May 1, 2002 at the Chesapeake Hospice House in Linthicum.
Mrs. Battaglia, a 10-year resident of the Arnold and Severna Park areas, had been ill for one year.
Born Sept. 23, 1914, in Pittsburgh, Pa., where she graduated from Peabody High School, she won the senior class award for an outstanding sewing project. She lived in Pittsburgh and Oakmont, Pa., until her move to this area.
She married
Robert E. Battaglia on June 23, 1936, and worked in the billing department at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School until shortly after his death in 1979.
Mrs. Battaglia was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church.
She was a member of the Auxiliary of the Pittsburgh Ballet Company, and enjoyed bowling, bridge, cooking, baking, sewing, concerts, band music and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Wheatley of Arnold and Mary Lynn Battaglia of New York, N.Y.; two brothers, Ruben Cicone of Beaver, Pa., and Vincent Cicone of Ocala, Fla.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at noon Saturday at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway. Burial will be private.
