Katherine Hoffman
Katherine Mathis Wood Hoffman, 65, formerly of Roaring River, N.C., died of natural causes June 18, 2002 at her home in Annapolis.
The widow of William Hoffman, Mrs. Hoffman was born Feb. 8, 1937, in Wilkes County, N.C., to Marcus Eugene and Alberta Anderson Mathis.
She was retired from Holly Farms Poultry, now part of Tyson Foods, and a member of Brian Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, Barness Glenn Oakley of Catonsville; three daughters, Loretta Banner of Walnut Cove, N.C., Sheila Roten of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Sandra Sheets of Thomasville, N.C.; two brothers, Rona Mathis of North Wilkesboro, N.C., and Marcus D. Mathis of Killeen, Texas; three sisters, Naomi M. Tulbert of North Wilkesboro, Alzonia Bell of Vista, Calif., and Lona Payne of Roaring River; and four grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Service, 180 Sparta Road, North Wilkesboro, where services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Briar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Thomas Jones
Baby Thomas William Jones was stillborn June 13, 2002 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.
Thomas is survived by his parents, Julie Ann Stansell Jones and Thomas Michael Jones, and his twin sister, Alexandra Elena Jones, all of Severna Park; and his grandparents, Maureen and Don Stansell of Arnold and Maureen and Tom Jones of Millersville.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway, Cape St. Claire. A private burial will follow at St. John the Apostle cemetery in Leesburg, Va. Arrangements are by the Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.

Raymond Kuhns
Retired Army Master Sgt. Raymond R. Kuhns, 62, of Watertown, N.Y., and formerly of Mago Vista in Arnold, died of a heart attack June 12, 2002 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.
Sgt. Kuhns served in the Army for 26 years, from 1957 to 1983, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. After leaving active service, he was a civilian staff officer for the Army in Korea and later at Fort Drum, N.Y., retiring again earlier this year.
He was wounded in action twice. Among his decorations were the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Good Conduct Medal with Silver Clasp-two loops, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross twice and a Merit Commendation. He also held the Army Parachute Badge.
Born Jan. 28, 1940, in Clinton, N.J., he was the son of the late Leroy and Marguerite Desantis Kuhns. He graduated from high school in Atlantic City, N.J., and worked for the Penn Central Railroad prior to entering the service.
A marriage to Zina Singer of Woodbine, N.J., ended in di-vorce. While serving in Korea he married
Jin Re Kim in 1984. The couple moved to Watertown in 1993 when he was transferred to Fort Drum.
He was a Mason and enjoyed yardwork, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Aaron Kuhns of Arnold; one daughter, Beth Kuhns of Baltimore; a stepdaughter, Mi Galvan of New York; two brothers, Marty Kuhns of New Jersey and Bernard Kuhns of Missouri; and a sister, Louise Kuhns of Puerto Rico.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. July 10 at Arlington National Cemetery. Participants should arrive early for directions. Arrangements are by Hart and Bruce Funeral Home in Watertown.
Harry Oettle Jr.
Harry Bernard Oettle Jr., 75, of Chester and formerly of Holmes, Pa., died June 19, 2002 at Memorial Hospital in Easton.
Mr. Oettle was born July 11, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pa., and was the son of the late Harry B. Oettle Sr. and Florence Yocum Oettle. He was the husband of Dorothy E. Butler Oettle for six years, and the widower of Margaret Houser Oettle, to whom he was married
for 41 years.
During World War II he served in the Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for Boeing in Ridley Park, Pa., retiring as a flight supervisor in 1988 following 38 years of service.
He was a member of the Kent Island United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Stephen Ministry. He was a former member of Holmes Presbyterian Church. He volunteered at Kent Island Elementary School's Media Center and was a volunteer tour guide at the Horsehead Wetlands Center in Grasonville. He also was a model boat hobbyist.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Harry Barton Oettle of Rosehill, Kansas; two daughters, Susan Oettle Cox of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Pamela Oettle Wynne of Downingtown, Pa.; three stepsons, Dr. Henry G. Butler Sr., Dennis W. Butler and Troy G. Butler, and six stepdaughters, Patricia E. Allen, Gail Lynn Schulz, Hollis G. Hypes, Karen S. Howard and Brenda J. Young, all of Maryland, and Dorothy DeVore of Alaska; 34 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Kent Island United Methodist Church in Chester, where family and friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Broomall, Pa. Arrangements are by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home in Chester.

Lyndsay Valentine
Lyndsay Marie Valentine, 20-month-old daughter of Michael Valentine and Christina Gibbons of Baltimore, died June 17, 2002 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore after a lengthy illness.
Lyndsay was born Oct. 12, 2000, in Baltimore.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Charles and Deborah Junior Valentine of Baltimore and Robert and Ruth Gibbons of Annapolis, and her great-grandmothers, Mary P.K. Jones of Annapolis and Mary Eleanor Gibbons of Henderson.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7:30 to 9 tonight at the Eastport United Methodist Church, 926 Bay Ridge Ave., where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home.

Harriett Dull
Harriett Virginia Dull, 82, of Annapolis, died June 20, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Miss Dull retired in 1991 after working as an account manager for various companies including Joseph D. Lazenby Co. for more than 20 years, Hopkins Furniture, Graf and Marshall CPAs for more than 20 years and Joan Leanos CPA.
Born April 28, 1920, in Galesville, she attended county public schools, graduated in 1938 from Annapolis High School and attended the Baltimore College of Commerce.
She was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Arnold and served as volunteer secretary there for many years.
Surviving are a brother, Franklin H. Dull of Arnold, and sister, Doris L. Dull of Annapolis.

William Fockler
George William "Bill" Fockler, 66, a 25-year resident of Annapolis and formerly of Baltimore, died of cancer June 21, 2002 at the Spa Creek Center, Genesis ElderCare Network, after a yearlong illness.
Mr. Fockler was born April 16, 1936, in Baltimore, graduated from Kenwood High School there and attended the University of Maryland. In the 1950s he served in the Maryland Air National Guard.
For many years he worked in the food service industry, operated food services for Maryland General and Suburban hospitals and owned and operated a bed and breakfast in New Hampshire.
He was a member of Annapolis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 304 and enjoyed fishing.
Surviving are one stepson, Bobby Forsyth, and three sisters, Vera Davis, Rosemary Ledesma and Ann Perkins, all of Baltimore.
Services are private. Arrangements are by Hardesty Funeral Home.
