Raymond Colbert
Raymond Thomas "Joe" Colbert, 65, died June 17, 2002 at his home in Annapolis after a brief illness.
Mr. Colbert was born in Anne Arundel County on Sept. 4, 1936, and attended county public schools.
He was self-employed at R and M Radiator Service.
He enjoyed listening to oldies and gospel music, watching baseball and football games and taking his mother on errands.
In 1955, he was married
to Mary Colbert Hawkins. The couple was divorced in 1987.
Also surviving are three sons, Raymond Colbert, Alonzo Richardson and David Fuller; his daughter, Darlene Colbert Richardson; his mother, Henrietta Green; his brother, Perry Hayes Jr., all of Annapolis; three sisters, Mary White of Reno, Nev., Geraldine Livramento and Viola Gross of Annapolis; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Raymond Colbert and the father of the late Kelvin and Clayton Colbert.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday with a Christian wake from 11 to 11:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at First Christian Community Church, 1800 Hall Brown Road. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.
Bessie Contee
Bessie Hayes Hicks Contee, 86, a resident of Edgewater for 33 years, died of heart failure June 19, 2002 at her home.
Mrs. Contee was born in Calvert County on April 20, 1916, and was educated in the Calvert County public schools.
She was a domestic worker in Anne Arundel County.
She was a communion steward and member of Hope Memorial-St. Mark United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and its Choir. Because of her active church work, she received a Governor's Citation.
Mrs. Contee enjoyed cooking, sewing and was active in a senior citizen organization.
She was married
on Sept. 10, 1944, to Robert Goldberg Contee, who died July 19, 1981.
Surviving are five sons, Robert Contee Jr. and Albert Contee of Annapolis, Purnell Contee Sr. of Edgewater, Mathew Contee Sr. of Shady Side and Roger Contee of Glen Burnie; four daughters, Lettie Contee of Edgewater and Roberta Sellman, Mary Louise Contee and Gloria Contee, all of Annapolis; a brother, Joseph Hicks Sr. of Annapolis; three sisters, Virgie Jones, Dorothy Galloway and Marion Howard, all of Annapolis; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday with a Christian wake from 11 to 11:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at Hope Memorial-St. Mark United Methodist Church, 3672 Muddy Creek Road in Edgewater. Burial will follow at Chews Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery, 492 Owensville Road in Harwood. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.
Lorraine Engleman
A Mass of Christian burial for Lorraine Maxwell Engleman, 74, of Glenmont, N.Y., was offered June 17, 2002 at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Delmar, N.Y.
Mrs. Engleman died June 12 at the home of her daughter in Severna Park after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Troy, N.Y., she was the only daughter of the late Agnes R. Potts and Edward Maxwell. She attended St. Joseph's School and graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1945. She worked for the Troy Insurance Agency until she was married
on Aug. 16, 1952, to James T. Engleman. Mr. Engleman died on March 13.
She was a member of the Delmar Progress Club, the Normanside Country Club and the Ladies of Charity. She served on the board of governors of the country club and Chadwick Square, a retirement community where she lived. She was an enthusiastic golfer and bridge player.
Surviving are twin daughters, Donna Platner of Severna Park and Diane Medford of Clifton Park, N.Y.; three sons, James T. Engleman Jr. of Crofton, Edward J. Engleman of Chatham, N.J., and Robert M. Engleman of Richmond, Va.; and nine grandchildren.
Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery in Troy. Arrangements were by Applebee Funeral Home in Delmar.

Robert Gompers
Robert Matthew Gompers, 34, of Maui, Hawaii, died June 7, 2002 from injuries received in an automobile accident in Maui.
Born in Cheverly, Mr. Gompers was a 1986 graduate of Eleanor Roosevelt High School. For the past 11 years, he lived in Maui where he was a professional big wave surfer.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Linda and William "Billy" Kennedy of Deale; his father and stepmother, Walter and Roz Gompers of Davidsonville; one brother, Michael Gompers of Baltimore; four sisters, Ricki Gompers of Great Mills in St. Mary's County, Jessica Adams of Shady Side, Kimberly Kennedy of Baltimore and Lisa Borza of Waldorf; and his grandparents, Ray Bowman of Suitland and Mary Kennedy of Annapolis.
Private memorial services will be held tomorrow.
Geraldine Jones
Geraldine "Geri" Jones, 56, of Annapolis, died June 17, 2002 at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore after a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 29, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Jones attended public schools and had a year of college in Dayton. She moved to this area in 1965 and was a nurse's aide for a private family.
She enjoyed reading, watching television and socializing with friends.
In 1963, she married
Avon W. Jones.
Also surviving are one son, William Jones of Vista, Calif.; one daughter, Patricia Brown of Annapolis; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 31 W. Washington St. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.
Lane Moore Jr.
Lane A. Moore Jr., 71, of Livingston, Texas, and formerly of Severna Park and Brevard, N.C., died June 18, 2002 in Sierra Vista, Ariz., after a six month illness with cancer and pneumonia.
Born Jan. 21, 1931, in East Lansing, Mich., Mr. Moore graduated from McKinley Tech High School in Washington, D.C., and attended the University of Maryland.
He served in the Army in counter intelligence. He also was a special agent with the Department of Defense at Fort George G. Meade from 1957 to 1986. Subsequently until 1990, he was a department head at Transylvania Community Hospital in Brevard.
In 1963, he received a Civilian Meritorious Service Award for his notable contribution to national security.
He was a founding board member of the Transylvania Dispute Settlement Center in Brevard. He enjoyed traveling in his recreational vehicle and visiting with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Diana Moore, whom he married
in 1983; two sons, Lane Bradley Moore of Denton and Stephen Frederick Moore of Yankeetown, Fla.; one daughter, Christine Mary Boehm of Wooster, Ohio; two stepsons, Gale Dale Bruno Jr. of Severna Park and David Anthony Bruno of High Point, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Cheryl Anne Bruno of Lincolntown, N.C.; two sisters, Dorothy Moore of New Calverton and Kathrine Gough of Lincoln, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
Arrangements for a July memorial service in Brevard are incomplete and are being handled by Mountain Shadow Mortuary in Tucson, Ariz.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Anne Arundel County Unit, 1041 Route 3 North, Gambrills, MD 21054.
Peter Aisquith
Peter "Sox" P. Aisquith, Jr., 89, a lifetime resident of Riva, died June 21, 2002 at Future Care Chesapeake in Arnold of natural causes.
Mr. Aisquith was born April 21, 1913 in Edgewater.
A first marriage to Doris B. Aisquith ended in divorce.
He worked as a rigger at Trumpy's Boat Yard in Eastport for many years. He loved the outdoors, hunting and music.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Louise Notey Aisquith, and a daughter, Doris Rozell Aisquith.
Survivors include two sons, Harry Asquith of Annapolis and Melvin Asquith of Riva; one brother, Joseph R. Aisquith of Edgewater; one sister, Dorothy Hagan of Gambrills; and one grandson.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at All Hallows Episcopal Church, 3604 Solomons Island Road, Birdsville. Burial in the church cemetery will immediately follow the service.
