William Glaser
William "Bill" Jack Glaser, 68, a longtime resident of Annapolis, died June 20, 2002 at his home of complications from a stroke in February.
Mr. Glaser was born May 29, 1934, in Loveland, Colo.
He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1955 to 1958. He received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1963 from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, and he also received a certificate of achievement from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
He worked in various computer engineering and systems engineering positions. Most recently he worked for the U.S. Postal Service Research Division as a senior software engineer.
He was a member of St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. While at CSU he was a member or Pi Tau Sigma, Cappa Mu Epsilon, Omicron Delta Kappa and Sima Tau.
His hobbies included genealogy, studying European history, growing roses and solving complex mathematical problems.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar and Raymond Glaser and two sisters, Adeline and Francis Glaser.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janet Irene Glaser of Annapolis; one daughter, Katherine Hardman of Taneytown; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martin's Evangelical Church, 1120 Spa Road, Annapolis. Burial will be private.
Olivia Heddleson
Olivia V. Heddleson, 87, a lifetime resident of Eastport, died of cancer after a lengthy illness June 21, 2002 at Kris-Leigh Assisted Living in Davidsonville.
Mrs. Heddleson was born June 24, 1914, in Eastport. She graduated from Annapolis High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Woolworths and then worked as a clerk in the Income Tax Division of the State of Maryland before retiring in 1976 after 20 years of service.
She was a member of Eastport United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, reading and being outdoors.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul S. Heddleson, who died in February of 2000; four brothers, Leonard, Willard, Buzz and Louis Christianson; two sisters, Elsie Winegardner and Lillian Behlke.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 1911 Forest Drive, Annapolis.
Albert Lang
Albert "Al" Kenneth Lang, 89, of Annapolis, and previously of Arlington, Va., died of natural causes June 21, 2002 at his home in Ginger Cove.
Mr. Lang was born Nov. 1, 1912, in Philadelphia, Pa. He graduated from Hazelton High School in Hazelton, Pa., and attended Carnegie Tech University in Pittsburgh, Pa.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He then went on to manage various retail establishments in the Washington D.C. area.
He was a former commander of the American Legion Post 139 in Arlington, Va.
His wife, Frankie Riordan Lang, who he married
in 1939, died in 1991.
Surviving are one son, Andrew L. Lang of White Salmon, Wash.; one daughter, Barbara L. Poetzman of Townsend, Ga.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services are private. Arrangements are by George P. Kalas Funeral Home, Edgewater.
Gladys Dougherty
Gladys May Dougherty, 91, a long time resident of Shady Side and Capitol Heights, died June 1, 2002, at Millennium Health and Rehabilitation Center at South River, of natural causes.
Mrs. Dougherty was born Oct. 18, 1910 in Schenectady, N.Y.
She worked as a waitress at Tucker's Restaurant in Marlboro Pike for 20 years.
A member of the Annapolis Senior Center, she won an art award there. Her hobbies included ceramics.
She is predeceased by a daughter, Jean Mary Dougherty, and her husband John J. Dougherty who died in 1970.
Surviving are two sons, William Thomas Dougherty of Shady Side and John William Dougherty of Martinez, Ga.; two grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be tomorrow from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hardesty Funeral Home, 905 Galesville Road, Galesville, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill cemetery in Suitland.

Emily Pickens
Emily Michelle Pickens, 27, of Cary, N.C., died May 29, 2002 at the Brain Tumor Center of Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C., after a three-year battle with cancer.
Born in Spokane, Wash., Miss Pickens grew up in Severna Park where she graduated from Severna Park High School and was a member of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church.
After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1998, she was the marketing diector for the Greensboro Opera Co. until her illness.
Surviving are her mother, Janet Pickens of Cary; her father and stepmother, Robert Pickens and Deborah Mugno of Cary; one sister, Amy Pickens of Morrisville, N.C.; her grandparents, Robert and Jean Cole of Ravenswood, W.Va.; a stepbrother, Matt Mugno of Lutherville; and two stepsisters, Beth Mugno of Morrisville and Allison Mugno of Lutherville.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park.

Robert Reeves Jr.
The Rev. Robert B. Reeves Jr., 91, of Warren, Conn., and formerly of Severna Park, who was pastor of Severna Park Presbyterian Church, died of pneumonia May 29, 2002 at the Severna Park Center, Genesis ElderCare Network.
Rev. Reeves was born Aug. 29, 1910, in Troy, N.Y., and raised in New York and Pennsylvania. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Williams College in Massachusetts in 1932 and a bachelor of divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in 1935. He was ordained by the Presbytery of New York in 1935. A year later he received a master's of secular theology from the seminary.
From 1937 to 1944 he was pastor of the Severna Park church and then was named to First Presbyterian Church of Forest Hills, N.Y., where he served for 10 years. From 1954 to 1974 he was chaplain of the Presbyterian Hospital of New York City.
Rev. Reeves was president of the Anne Arundel County Council of Churches and chaplain of the Severn School while in this area.
He was a critical associate in the program for psychiatry and religion at Union from 1956 to 1974.
That year he presented a lecture series on death and dying on CBS. He wrote and was published extensively in medical and religious journals.
A resident of Warren for 23 years, he retired there and was active in Warren Congregational Church, the fire company, the library, the Good Neighbor Fund, the Democratic Town Committee, Sons of the Revolution and the Wichita Grange. He also served as chairman of the Warren Board of Assessors and was an EMT with Warren Ambulance from 1976 to 1984.
Rev. Reeves enjoyed photography, woodworking, painting, stamp collecting, architecure and home building. He and his wife, Marion Reeves, who died in 1999, retired to a home in Warren that he had designed and along with family built over a 27-year period.
Surviving are his son, Robert T. Reeves of Annapolis; two daughters, Barbara R. Worthington of Baltimore and Carolyn R. Dunn of Ligonier, Pa.; one brother, John D. Reeves of Brookhaven, N.Y.; one sister, Virginia Cathcart of Port Charlotte, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and burial will be at a later date in Warren. Local arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
