John Yudd
Ambrose John "Jack" Yudd, 82, a retired aeronautical engineer with NASA, died of congestive heart failure July 5, 2002 at his home in Heritage Harbour.
Born Aug. 17, 1919, in Lackawanna County, Pa., Mr. Yudd received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Newark College of Engineering in New Jersey in 1942 and did graduate study at the City College of New York.
He served in the Navy during World War II, and was awarded the European and American Theater ribbons and the Good Conduct and Victory medals.
He was an engineer for Western Electric Co. from 1946 to 1951 and then with the Rural Electrification Administration until 1954. He worked as a civilian communications engineer for the Marine Corps from 1954 to 1958 and as an electronics engineer with the Army Signal Intelligence Agency from 1958 to 1961.
He then joined the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, where he was an aerospace engineer from 1961 to 1977. He was the ground station manager for the Application Technology Satellite projects. He also was project engineer on the Echo A-12 balloon project.
His interests included fishing and gardening.
On Oct. 18, 1952, he was married
to Elizabeth A. Yudd. They lived in Bethesda for 25 years before moving to Heritage Harbour 15 years ago.
Also surviving are three sons, Ronald A. Yudd of Damascus, Brian T. Yudd of Annapolis and Charles A. Yudd of South Riding, Va.; one daughter, Dr. Regina M. Yudd of Germantown; two sisters; and five grandchildren.
Services are private. Inurnment will be in the Arlington National cemetery Columbarium on July 24 at 11 a.m. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater.

Steven Rauseo
A memorial service for Steven Nicholas Rauseo, 44, of West Chicago, Ill., and formerly of Annapolis, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway, near Cape St. Claire.
Mr. Rauseo, an associate professor of physics at Wheaton College in Illinois, died June 11, 2002 in Chicago after a long illness.
Harry Brown
Harry C. Brown, 63, died of respiratory failure July 15, 2002 at his home in Pasadena after a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 29, 1938, in Port Chester, N.Y., Mr. Brown graduated in 1960 from New York University's College of Engineering, with a bachelor of science degree.
He and his wife, Jane F. Brown, lived in the Sun Valley area of Glen Burnie before their move to Pasadena. Mrs. Brown died in January 2002. They had been married
for 41 years.
Mr. Brown was employed as an electrical engineer with the former Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Linthicum for more than 35 years. He retired in 1996.
A pilot, he was a member of the Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association. In addition to his love of flying, he enjoyed trains, boating, water skiing and music, especially playing the accordion.
Surviving are two daughters, Kimberly J. Sunday of Centreville and Noreen A. Dalisera of Millersville; one sister, Kathleen B. Sullivan of Alpharetta, Ga.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church, 8325 Ventnor Road, Pasadena, followed by burial at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church Cemetery, 1070 Cecil Ave., Millersville.

Christie Handy
Christie Christensen Handy, 87, a resident of Heritage Harbour for 15 years and formerly of Washington, D.C., died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease July 17, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a two-year illness.
Mrs. Handy was born June 12, 1915, in Annapolis, and graduated in 1933 from Annapolis High School. She worked as an auditor of foreign currency for the Agency for International Development in the U.S. State Department.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Her interests included gardening.
On May 7, 1938, she was married
to William A. Handy Jr., who died April 23, 2002 of this year.
She was the mother of the late Dorothy Handy and the sister of the late Chance and Rialto Christensen, Anna Hawkins and Lottie Jordan.
Surviving are one son, William A. Handy III of Davidsonville; one daughter, Christie Donald of Annapolis; two brothers, Wheetley Christensen of Annapolis and Robert Christensen of Beeville, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Louise Kirk
Graveside services for Louise Towshend Kirk, 97, a native and lifelong resident of Davidsonville, were held this morning at All Hallows Chapel cemetery in Davidsonville.
Mrs. Kirk was born April 17, 1905, and received a nursing degree from the former Church Home and Hospital in Baltimore. She retired as a public health nurse in the county.
She was a member of All Hallows Episcopal Chapel.
Her husband, Lowell M. Kirk, died in 1962. She was the sister of the late William W. Towshend Jr.
Surviving are one son, William E. Kirk of West River; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Melvin Parker
Melvin Alonzo Parker, 52, a lifelong resident of Edgewater, died of heart failure July 15, 2002 at his home after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Parker had worked as an equipment operator for Anne Arundel County until his disability.
Born Jan. 28, 1951, in Anne Arundel County, he graduated from Southern High School. He attended area churches.
Surviving are one son, Byron Alonzo Parker of Galesville; two daughters, Allandra M. and O'Mara A. Parker of Annapolis; his father, Melvin P. Parker of Lothian; his stepfather, Charles Wilson Sr. of Edgewater; his stepmother, Mary C. Parker of Edgewater; three brothers, Charles Wilson Jr. and Dale and Terrence Wilson, all of Edgewater; three sisters, Regina Riggs of Prince Frederick, Francina Smith of Dunkirk and Cynthia Neal of Edgewater; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Miracle Temple Church, 5501 Sand Road, Lothian, followed by the funeral. Burial will be in Moses cemetery in Drury. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.
Martin Perkins Jr.
Martin Edward Perkins Jr., 81, of Baltimore and formerly of Crofton from 1970 to 1999, died July 16, 2002 at the health care center at Oak Crest Village retirement community in Parkville after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's disease.
Born in Frederick and raised in Parkville, Mr. Perkins served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for more than 40 years in the elevator industry in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., areas and was a respected teacher in his profession.
In his earlier years he enjoyed sports and coached baseball, basketball and girls' softball. He also was active in the Crofton Swim and Tennis Club.
Surviving are his wife, Julia Lee Seward Perkins, whom he married
in 1942; two daughters, Julie P. Duley of Belair and Nancy P. Brockmeyer of Pasadena; one son, Martin E. Perkins III of Silver Spring; one sister, Oscarene Zimmerer of Parkville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Ritchie Highway and Cypress Creek Road, Severna Park. Burial will be private.
