Michael R. Romberger, 54, of Westminster
Michael Randolph Romberger, 54, of Westminster, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at home.
Born Feb. 27, 1955, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Howard M. Romberger and Burline Nash Mihm.
He worked in heating, plumbing and air conditioning at Chasney & Co. Inc. He had formerly worked at State Mechanical for 25 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Littlestown Eagles and the Littlestown Eagle Riders.
Surviving are his companion Janet I. Ensey, of Westminster; children Brittany L. Romberger, of Westminster, and Bethany L. and Michaela L. Romberger, both of New Oxford, Pa.; siblings Daniel Romberger, of Westminster, Dennis Romberger, of New Jersey, and Tomi Lynn Stepp and Michelle Hughes, both of Glen Burnie.
He was predeceased by a son, Justin M. Romberger.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart Jr. officiating. Interment will be private.

Gloria M. Wharton, 91, of Gambrills
Gloria May Wharton, 91, of Gambrills, formerly of Baltimore and Molokai, Hawaii, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Deer Park United Methodist Church, 6107 Deer Park Road, Reisterstown, with the Rev. David Gass officiating. Interment will be in Deer Park UMC Cemetery.
Stephanie R. White, 67, of Westminster
Stephanie Rice White, 67, of Westminster, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore after a brief illness.
Born July 15, 1941, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late G. Herbert Jr. and Margaret Douglas Wolfe Rice.
She was a 1959 graduate of Westminster High School and a 1961 graduate of Virginia Intermont College, where she earned a degree as a registered nurse. She had been a nurse in Michigan.
She enjoyed animals, and worked in animal rescue, at kennels and with farm animals. She had been a clerk at Meadow Farms in Westminster. She served on the board of directors of the Carroll County Humane Society and volunteered with the American Red Cross disaster relief, Planned Parenthood and Pets on Wheels.
She held a first-degree black belt in the International Hap Kido Federation and was an avid gardener.
Surviving are a sister, Margot McKereghan, of Concord, Calif.; nieces Sarah McKereghan and Mary Niederreiter, both of California; a nephew, Kevin McKereghan, of California; cousins Craig Rice and wife Lynn Ann, of Westminster, and Brian Rice and Cindy, of Gettysburg; and a second cousin, Connor Rice, of Westminster.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Ascension Episcopal Church, 23 N. Court St., Westminster, with the Rev. Ronald Fisher, church pastor, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Carroll County Humane Society, 2517 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, MD 21158.

Frances M. Gore, 75, of Upperco
Frances Marie Gore, 75, of Upperco, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at Manor Care Towson.
Born Nov. 15, 1933, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Margaret Traband Howard. Twice married, she was the wife of Howard Z. Gore and the late Donald S. Rudick.
She was a housewife and a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Reisterstown.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Karie L. Ermatinger, of Toana, Va.; granddaughters Lauren and Sami Ermatinger, of Toana; and sisters Della Mink, of Easton and Milly Ferguson, of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was predeceased by a son, Donald S. Rudick Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead, with the Rev. Mindy Coats officiating. Interment will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Adam Handschuh, 77, of Hampstead
Adam Handschuh, 77, of Hampstead, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.
Born July 22, 1931, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Adam and Naomi Wilson Handschuh. He was the husband of Ruth Cecelia Smith Handschuh, his wife of 51 years.
He was a member of the Marine Corps and reserves for 28 years. He had been active in the Marine Corps League.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a sister, Dolores Appling; and eight nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Yvonne Brown and Joan and Evelyn Handschuh.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Kimberly R. Hopwood, 33, of Sykesville
Kimberly Rose Hopwood, 33, of Sykesville, died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Born Aug. 5, 1975, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Peggy Kirkley, of Woodlawn, and the late David Fannin. She was the wife of David Hopwood.
She had been a bartender for many years. She had worked at Tom’s Sports Tavern in Randallstown. She enjoyed spending time with her children.
Surviving, in addition to her mother and husband are children Destiny Rose Delara, Colton Harley Hopwood and Justice Allen-Lee Hopwood, all of Sykesville; a brother, David Fannin, of Elmira, N.Y.; a grandmother, Olive Christian Showers, of Elizabethtown, Ky.; a step-father, Gary Kirkley, of Woodlawn; a mother-in-law, Cathy S. Granger, of Sykesville; and a father-in-law, Howard Lee Hopwood, of Randallstown.
A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Kenneth M. Knox, 55, of Taneytown
Kenneth Michael Knox, 55, of Taneytown, died Thursday morning, Jan. 1, 2009, after a battle with myotonic dystrophy.
Born March 21, 1953, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of Florence E. Sanders Knox of Littlestown, Pa., and George F. Knox, who died in 1975. He was the husband of Rosemarie Staub Knox, his wife of 34 years.
He attended St. Joseph grade school and graduated from Francis Scott Key High School in 1972. He worked on the family farm, and established his own farm in 1975, where he raised beef cattle, was a grain farmer and did custom work on area farms. He retired in 1999 and worked for Home Run Trucking for five months. He also worked at Lippy Brothers in Hampstead as a truck driver from 1999 until 2004.
He enjoyed farming and in 1986 was honored with the Outstanding Young Farmer Award. He was a member of Tom’s Creek United Methodist Church in Emmitsburg, where he served as a trustee for several years and helped to clear the “Promised Land” at the church.
Surviving in addition to his mother and wife, are children Jeremiah Knox, of York, Pa., Alicia Knox, of Emmitsburg, and Jordan Knox and fiancée Holly Wilson, of Bonneville, Pa.; siblings Mary Frances Baron and husband Raymond, Ann Hansen and husband Jesse, Florence M. Knox and fiancé Jim Small, and Joyce Knox, all of Littlestown, George Knox and wife Eileen, of Longwood, Fla., Jane Hubbard, of Emmitsburg, Donald Knox and wife Dawn, Barb Keilholtz and husband Robert, and Joseph Knox and wife Jackie, all of Taneytown, Joan Taylor, of North Beach, Janet Knox and husband Dennis Nicholson, of Leonardtown, Steve Knox, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Teresa Morrissey and husband Dan, of Woodsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings Jim and Glenn Knox.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tom’s Creek United Methodist Church, 16252 Tom’s Creek Church Road, Emmitsburg, with the Revs. Judy Kelly and William Warehime co-officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic cemetery in Taneytown.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service, Tuesday, at the church.
