Bryon Wilson Houpt, 41 years old of Owings Mills, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown.
Born November 30, 1970 in Westminster, he was the son of Harry Wilson Houpt, Jr. and the late Nancy Lee Corbin Houpt. He was the step-son of Dorothy “Dot” Houpt.
In addition to his father and step-mother, he is survived by his grandmother Marion Corbin, an aunt Janet Corbin, 3 half sisters, Christine and Donna Diaz, Rebecca Mohammod, and nieces and nephews
Friends may call on Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. 11605 Reisterstown Rd. Owings Mills where services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM. Rev. William Louis Piel officiating.
Interment is private.
Mary Theresa "Peachy" Bivona
(February 21, 1936 - January 15, 2012)
Mary Theresa "Peachy" Bivona, 75, of Perry Hall formerly of Reisterstown died Sunday, January 15, 2012 at her residence.
Born February 21, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Charles Hagan and Anna Knoll Hagan.
Surviving are her children and spouses Noreen Bivona of Parkville, Joe Bivona and his wife Lisa of Baltimore, Karen Gray of Perry Hall, Louis Bivona and his wife Kathy of Finksburg, and Tara Bivona of Hunt Valley; her 10 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrate 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glyndon, 65 Sacred Heart Lane with the Rev. Fr. Jay McKee as celebrant.
Interment will be in Druid Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Stafford G. Taylor, Jr.
(November 11, 1930 - January 17, 2012)
Stafford G. Taylor, Jr. 81 years old of Owings Mills, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.
Born November 11, 1930 in New York City, he was the Son of the late Stafford G. Sr. and Gwendolyn Thomas Taylor.
He was predeceased by two wives, Dolores Brown Taylor in 1982 and Catherine Stones Taylor in 2005.
He moved to Baltimore in 1937. He attended Baltimore City Schools and graduated from Douglass High School in 1948. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1949 and served aboard the USS Leyte CV32 and the USS Waldron DD699 until his discharge in 1952. He then worked as a street car operator with the Baltimore Transit Company and later as an operator with the Baltimore Metro where he retired in 1992.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Darrell and Angela Taylor of Westminster as well as many other relatives and friends.
Friends may call on Saturday from 3 – 6 PM at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. 11605 Reisterstown Rd. Owings Mills where services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM.
Interment in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.

Clifton Wright Hedges
(May 1, 1917 - January 18, 2012)
Clifton Wright Hedges passed away peacefully in Westminster, Maryland on January 18, 2012 at the age of 94
Born May 1, 1917 in Clifton, Virginia, he was the son of the late Charles E. Hedges and Lillian Hedges. He was the husband of Vina B. Hedges of Westminster. They were married
in April 1938, his wife of 74 years;
Cliff worked for the federal government for 34 years retiring in 1972. His government career began in the 1940’s at the Washington D.C., Navy Yard working in the optical shop making lenses and other optics used on WWII aircraft bombsights. He retired from the accounting and payroll department at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Carderock, Maryland.
After retirement he and his wife moved to Millsboro, Delaware where he enjoyed hobbies of furniture refinishing, gardening and the art of winemaking. He was active in the Lions Club receiving the Melvin Jones award, which is the highest level of recognition for service to the lions clubs and the community. They moved to Westminster Maryland in 1995 to be closer to their son and grandchildren.
Surviving are his son Charles R. Hedges of Westminster, Maryland; two grandchildren Garrett C. Hedges of Loveland, Ohio, Kara Hedges Sasse of Washington D. C., and three great grandchildren, Abbygael, Gabrielle and Everett Hedges.
A private cremation was held at All Faiths Crematory and Chapel in Manchester.

Ernest Franklin Standiford
(November 15, 1915 - January 23, 2012)
Ernest Franklin Standiford, 91, of Cocoa, Fla., formerly of Arcadia, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at home.
Born Nov. 15, 1915, in Rutledge, he was the son of the late George W. and Hattie L. Famous Standiford. He was the husband of Arline Clawson Hodges Standiford, his wife of 71 years, who died May 19, 2011.
He was a retired tool marker with more than 40 years of service with Black and Decker. He was a longtime member with the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Department, a member of Piney Branch Country Club and an avid golfer. He has been a resident of Florida since 1994.
Surviving are a niece, Shirley Mackley, of Gettysburg, Pa.; a nephew, Kenny Gore, of Felton, Pa.; and numerous cousins and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service, 1 p.m. Saturday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, with the Rev. Bryan K. Wintersteen officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Church cemetery in Arcadia.
William Penfield Hume
(June 2, 1942 - January 29, 2012)
William Penfield Hume, 69, of Millers died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born June 2, 1942 in Sea Island, GA, he was the son of the late Dr. John C. Hume and Amelia Brown Hume. He was the husband of Karen Marie Summerfelt-Hume, his wife of 20 years.
He was an electrical engineer for the MVA.
A private cremation was held at All Faiths Crematory and Chapel in Manchester.

On Monday, January 30, 2012, MARLENE BEATRICE GRANDBERRY, (nee Carey), 78, of Owings Mills.
She was the wife of David C. Grandberry, her husband of 35 years; mother of Darlene Anderson Williams, Linda D. Gibson, Milton Albert Crawford, Jr., Karen Aquanetta Crawford, Ricky Anthony Crawford, Brenda Crawford Soule, Kim Maria Crawford James, and Anthony Kennedy Crawford; cousin of Elaine Brown; grandmother of 13; great grandmother of 13; and great great grandmother of 2.
The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Thursday at ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills with a private cremation will be held at All Faiths Crematory and Chapel in Manchester.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 901 Academy Avenue, Owings Mills. Interment Private.
Gilbert Silas "Si" Benson
(August 11, 1921 - February 12, 2012)
Gilbert Silas “Si” Benson, 90, of Reisterstown, died February 12, 2012 at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster.
Born August 11, 1921, in Boring, he was the son of the late Wilbur Markland Benson and Marie King Benson. He was the husband of Jane Sanders Benson, his wife of 64 years.
In addition to his wife, his four children, and his five grandchildren: Sande Dyott and her husband Bill of Annapolis and their son Jeff Somers of Arnold; Steve Benson, his wife Celia, and their son Luke Benson of Baltimore; Tom Benson, his wife Michelle Marozik, and their son Otto Benson of Brooklyn, NY; and Bryan Benson, his wife Sue and their daughters Emily and Grace Benson of Glyndon. He is also survived by his sister, Bernardine Walker. He was pre-deceased by his infant son, Michael and his sister Mary Ellen.
Si worked for Baltimore County for over 37 years, retiring in 1985 as Chief of the Bureau of Public Services, which he helped create, and Chair of the County’s Review Group Subdivision Planning Committee. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Reisterstown all his life, and was a devoted congregant, serving on the property and cemetery committees. An avid train collector and hobbyist, Si was one of four men who developed the Christmas train garden at Kennilworth Mall. Si’s particular specialty was designing and building animations. He was a member of the Train Collectors Association and the Kiwanis of Reisterstown.
He graduated from Franklin High School in 1940 and attended North Carolina State University, becoming a professional civil engineer and landscape architect. In 1942, working in the chemistry lab at Rustless Iron and Steel Corporation, he helped the company win the Army-Navy E Award for “Production of Materiel Vital to the Successful Conduct of the War.”
The family will receive friends from on Thursday, February 16th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Rd., Owings Mills, MD, 21117, and on Friday, February 17th at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pleasant Grove is located at 15300 Dover Rd., Reisterstown, MD, 21136.
Interment will be at Pleasant Grove.
