Birtie Harper Martin

Birtie Harper Martin, age 87 of Hampstead, MD formerly of Lineboro, MD died Wednesday October 1, 2014 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD with her family by her side. Born June 12, 1927 in Onego, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Lannie G. and Carrie Smith Harper. She was the wife of the late Henry Luther Martin who died August 24, 2014.
A 1945 graduate of Manchester High School, she was a devoted mother, homemaker, retired seamstress from Joseph A. Bank and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester, MD.
She is survived by her children Brenda Myers and husband Donald of Westminster, MD, Bryan Martin and wife Sharon of Hagerstown, MD and Wayne Martin and wife Bridget of Westminster, MD, grandchildren Christopher Myers of Arlington, VA and Kyle Martin of Sykesville, MD, brothers Roy Harper of Millers, MD and Richard Harper of Denton, MD and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by siblings Rosalie Fowler, Mable Harper, Katherine Warehime, Betty Moyer, Mary Alice Hare, Paul Harper, Grover Harper and Blair Harper.
Services and interment will be private at a later date.

Arthur Preston Cooper
(August 27, 1926 - September 25, 2014)
Arthur Preston Cooper, 88, of Hampstead passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born august 27, 1926 in Hampstead, he was the son of the late Charles H. Cooper and Reba Schultz Cooper. He was the husband of Theresa Clara Czawlytko Cooper, his wife of 68 years.
Years ago, he was a farmer and was a machine operator for Black and Decker. He and his wife were the former care takers of the Hampstead cemetery for 35 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children Robert Preston Cooper of Manchester and Carol Anne Cooper Davis of Florida; his grandchildren Robert Allen Cooper, Jennifer Werner, Laura Yarbrough, and Brian Davis; his 5 great-grandchildren; and his siblings Elwood Cooper of Westminster and Elsie Armacost of Upperco.
He was predeceased by his siblings Elmer Cooper, Lawrence Cooper, and Helen Bailey.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester where a Catholic Prayer will be held 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Fr. Michael Roach.
Interment will be Hampstead Cemetery, Hampstead.

Douglas Howard Marriott, Jr.
(June 22, 1955 - August 22, 2012)
Douglas Howard Marriott, Jr., 57, of Hampstead formerly of Owings Mills died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Season Hospice at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown.
Born June 22, 1955 in Baltimore City, he was the son of the late Douglas Howard Marriott, Sr. and Mildred Lee Carter Marriott.
He was a plumber by trade and worked for Smith Mechanical. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was member of the Seabees.
He was a member of the Owings Mills VFW, and graduate of the Pikesville High School, class of 1974.
In his spare time he enjoyed riding motocross.
Surviving are his siblings Milton Edward “Eddie” Marriott and Sharon Lee Spencer both of Hampstead; and his nieces Kimberly Spencer and Harley Bechtel.
A private cremation will be held at All Faiths Crematory and Chapel in Manchester.
A graveside service will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills, please arrive at the cemetery by 11:15 a.m.

Ellen Swann
(January 29, 1929 - August 19, 2012)
Katherine Ellen Swann, 83, of Hanover, Pa., formerly of Baltimore and Hampstead, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover.
Born Jan. 29, 1929, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William G. and Katherine Haver Wrightson. She was the wife of Donald V. Swann, her husband of 56 years.
She had worked as a stenographer and secretary for Fidelity and Deposit Company, and as a secretary for the Baltimore School of the Bible. In addition, she was a counselor for the Billy Graham Telephone Counseling Ministry, a teacher for Child Evangelism of Baltimore and volunteered at Sandy Cove Bible Conference in Northeast.
She was a member of Grace Bible Church in Manchester. In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitch, camping and traveling in the Western United States to visit family and friends.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son Timothy G. Swann and wife Lisa Shore, of Pasadena; grandsons Daniel and Jonathan Swann; and sisters Evelyn Gauss, of Colorado, and Jean Butler, of Iowa.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with her pastor, the Rev. Paul Wenzel, officiating. Interment will be in Loudon Park Cemetery.

Carolyn W. Ferkler
(May 2, 1927 - August 17, 2012)
Ferkler, Carolyn W. On August 17, 2012 Carolyn W. Ferkler, 85 years old of Owings Mills was gently passed to the hands of The Lord.
Preceded in death by her husband’s Brad Savage and Charles Ferkler, she is survived by her step-children, niece and family and by her ever present friends and neighbors.
Carolyn was a lifetime member of the Verizon Pioneer Club.
A Celebration of Carolyn’s Life will be held Thursday, August 23rd 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Lt. Peter G. Zouck VFW Post 521, 214 Tollgate Rd. Owings Mills, MD.

Theresa Marie Rosenberg

Theresa Marie Rosenberg, 85, of Reisterstown died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Seasons Hospice at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown.
Born August 2, 1927 in Tonawanda, NY, she was the daughter of the late Wilbrod Alfred Veillette and Regina Cloutier Veillette. She was the wife of the late Hillard Rosenberg.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and worked for 15 years at the Merry-Go-Round.
Surviving are her children H. Rick Rosenberg and significant other Marsha D. Brooks, Michelle Y. Burgesen and husband Frederick J., Denise R. Zito and husband Salvatore, and Randall S. Rosenberg; a brother Wilfred Lucien “Sonny” Veillette and wife Charlotte; and a sister-in-law of Rosalie Veillette; and 5 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her siblings Robert Veillette and Ceceil Turpin.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mill where catholic prayer will be held 11 am Wednesday.
Interment will be in Druid Ridge Cemetery.
Marie S. Kelley
(June 13, 1920 - August 18, 2012)
Marie S. Kelley, 92 years old of Westminster, formally of Reisterstown, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Carroll Lutheran Village.
Born June 13, 1920 in Dundalk, she was the daughter of the late Frank Savage and Edna V. Lusby Savage.
She was the wife of the late Charles J. Kelly who died in 1977.
She was a homemaker, a long time member of the Glyndon Woman’s Club and a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. She volunteered at Springfield State Hospital and was past President of the Council of Mental Health of Auxillary for Maryland.
She is survived by two sisters: Ethel Hamp of Lecanto, FL., Marian Barfield of Abilene, TX., nieces and nephews: Linda Eckert, Edna Core, William Hamp III, Steven Hamp, 6 great nieces and 4 great nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister Lillian Corroum.
Friends may call on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at All Saints Episcopal Church, 203 E. Chatsworth Ave. Reisterstown, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00AM
A Private cremation will follow. No flowers please.
