RETHA J. SELBY
Retha Jean Selby, 81, Friendsville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Kamp’s Personal Care Home, Markleysburg, Pa.
Born May 23, 1926, in Friendsville, she was a daughter of the late Orval G. and Ocie (Ryan) Rush. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Selby, on July 19, 1991; an infant sister, Theresa Mildred Rush, in 1925; and a sister, Vera Helen Shaffer.
After graduating from Friendsville High School and Catherman’s Business School, Mrs. Selby was employed by the chief dispatcher’s office of the B&O Railroad in Cumberland, for five years. Thereafter, she was employed by the clerk of the Garrett County Circuit Court’s Office for 10 years and as court stenographer for the Garrett County Circuit Court for 20 years. She retired in 1989 after 30 years of service.
She was a lifelong active member of the Rush Baptist Church, Friendsville. She was pianist in the church for over 50 years. She also served in various other positions in her church over the years. She was a charter member of the Rush Baptist Missionary Union.
Surviving are one son, Victor Ross Selby and wife Kathy, Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; a granddaughter, Rebecca Jean Metheny, Morgantown, W.Va.; a grandson, Michael Glenn Selby and wife Christine, Friendsville; six great-grandchildren, Sierra Selby, Ashley Longwell, Orion Metheny, Zanon Sines, Jayden Sines, and Skylan Sines; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville.
A service was conducted at the Rush Baptist Church on Sunday, July 1, with the Rev. Ray Perkins officiating.
Interment was held in the Blooming Rose Cemetery.

ORVILLE N. FRIEND
Orville Norris Friend, 82, Smithsburg, formerly of Friendsville, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007.
Born May 31, 1925, in Friendsville, he was the son of the late Orville Norris Sr. and Elma (Fike) Friend VanSickle.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A graveside service was conducted at the Steele Cemetery, Friendsville, on Sunday, July 1, with Pastor Marshall Bittinger officiating.
MARY E. HARVEY
Mary Elizabeth Harvey, 80, Oakland, died Friday, June 29, 2007, at the Oakland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Oakland.
Born Oct. 29, 1926, in Oakmont, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Freda (Sherwood) Paugh.
She worked for the C&P Telephone Co. and was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons Elvis Harvey, Elk Garden, W.Va., and Franklin Harvey, Ocean City; two daughters, Jill Ravenscroft, Oakland, and Linda Kimble, Ripley, W.Va.; three sisters, Jeanette Daulan, Calif., Jennette Edwards, Burlington, W.Va., and Janet Asbury, Baltimore; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, where a service was held on Monday, July 2, with the Rev. William McCallister officiating.
Interment followed in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden.
BESSIE E. STEMPLE
Bessie E. Stemple, 74, Friendsville, died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born on Jan. 20, 1933, in Aurora, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Guy H. and Ices M. (Moats) Moats. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence W. Stemple, in 2004; by five brothers, Dayton Moats, Kenny Moats, Lee Moats, Ralph Moats, and Elwood Moats; and by a sister, Mary Moats.
She was a former employee of the Hanover Wire Cloth Co., Hanover, Pa.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Sweitzer, Beverly Groom, and Dorothy N. Sweitzer, all of Friendsville; two sons, Charles Stemple and Larry Stemple, both of Friendsville; one sister, Beulah; two brothers, June Moats, W.Va., and Herbert Moats, Oakland; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grand-children.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted on Monday, July 2, with Rev. Larry Wallbrown officiating.
Interment was in the Aurora Cemetery, Aurora.
RALPH W. HINEBAUGH
Ralph W. Hinebaugh, 72, Friendsville, died Saturday, June 30, 2007, at his home.
Born on July 5, 1934, in Friendsville, he was a son of the late Wilbur Sr. and Leona Friend Hinebaugh.
He was a member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge 45 and a self-employed timberman. One of his biggest joys was being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed feeding his deer and turkeys
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Staub Hinebaugh; a son, Tommy Hinebaugh, Friendsville; a daughter, Linda Thomas and husband Gerald, Friendsville; a granddaughter, Stephanie Bell and husband Steve, Cross Junction, Va.; a grandson, Aaron Thomas, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two great-grand-children, Jacob and Nicholas Bell; three brothers, Claude V. Hinebaugh, Norwich, Conn., and Robert W. Hinebaugh and Wilbur Hinebaugh Jr., both of Friendsville; two sisters, Anna Catherine Fike, Friendsville, and Ruth Umbel, McHenry; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends were received at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Bruceton Mills, W.Va., where a service was conducted on Tuesday, July 2, with Rev. Donald Matthews officiating.
Burial followed in the Blooming Rose Cemetery, Friendsville.
DONALD G. ARONHALT SR.
Donald Gordon Aronhalt Sr., 53, Oakland, died Friday, June 29, 2007, in Somerset County, Pa., as the result of an automobile accident.
Born Aug. 17, 1953, in Oakland, he was a son of Raymond Aronhalt, Loch Lynn, and the late Elsie Otto Aronhalt.
Mr. Aronhalt owned and operated an auto body repair shop and was an Army Veteran, serving from 1970 to 1973.
In addition to his father, he is survived by three sons, Donald G. Aronhalt Jr., St. Mary‘s County, and Eric Aronhalt and Carl Aronhalt, both of Gastonia, N.C.; one daughter, Saretha Stallard, Baltimore; one brother, Ronald Aronhalt, Loch Lynn; one sister, Debbie Brown, Bayard, W.Va.; and 15 grandchildren.
Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was held on Wednesday, July 4, with the Rev. David R. Martin officiating.
Interment followed in Bayard Cemetery with military honors.
GLADYS L. NEWHOUSE
Gladys Louise New-house, 74, Elk Garden, W.Va., died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at her residence.
Born June 13, 1933, in Elk Garden, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Eva (Cornell) Michaels. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Newhouse.
Surviving is one son, James Newhouse, Elk Garden; three grandchildren; and one brother, Dewey Michaels, Elk Garden.
Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller.
A service was held on Sunday, July 1, at the Elk Garden Church of God, with the Rev. Byron Mayberry officiating.
Interment followed in Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden.
ROBERT N. SANDERS
Robert Nelson Sanders, 72, King of Prussia, Pa., died Saturday, June 30, 2007, in Mercy Suburban Hospital, East Norristown, Pa., with his wife and children at his bedside.
Mr. Sanders was the loving husband of Charlaine R. "Charly" (Rohr) Sanders.
Born on March 23, 1935, in Terra Alta, W.Va., he was a son of Gwendolyn (Hauger) and the late Lawrence Nelson Sanders. He was also preceded in death by one son, Steven Nelson Sanders.
Bob was a graduate of Southern High School, class of 1953.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by one daughter, Carole Ann Booz and husband Kevin; one son, David Moskosky; four grandchildren; three brothers, Dennis and wife Linda, Donald and wife Kathy, and Frederick and wife Lois, all of Oakland; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob loved his family, travel, reading, and bowling. He worked until the time of his recent illness, which began in September 2006.
Friends were received at the Boyd-Harrox Funeral Home, Norristown, today, Thursday, July 5, where a service was conducted.

MARCEL R. BAKER
Marcel R. "Becky" Baker, 80, Deep Creek Lake, formerly of Keyser, W.Va., died Monday, July 2, 2007, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born on Aug. 25, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Victor Garfield and Myrtle Effie (Alt) Yokum. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Yokum.
She was a homemaker and formerly employed by the G.C. Murphy Store, Keyser.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Olan L. "Dubie" Baker; one son, David Maurice Baker, Parkersburg, W.Va.; one daughter, Sandra Kay Baker, Keyser; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, today, Thursday, July 5, and will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., where a service will be held Friday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Donald Leatherman, Rev. John Leatherman, and Mr. Bill Rogers officiating.
Interment will be held in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
